Her Loss Is Bigger
"Dad!"
He Jian was confused and turned his head to look at Mo Roulan.
Instead of looking at him, Mo Roulan held his hand and removed it from his wrist.
She had called Chi Rong early morning and had asked him to take her away.
"Lanlan!"
He Jian was shocked and tried to hold her hand again.
"You are not going anywhere!"
He said firmly as he held her hand forcefully and tried to take her with him but Chi Rong blocked his way and looked at him sharply
"Don't you dare force my daughter again! I forgave you before because I saw that she loves you and she was becoming normal from that emotionless person after she married you. But there is no use of such love which can't keep her happy. If you truly love her then you should have first go and ensure that you don't have people who are just waiting to harm my daughter. She will leave if she wants to leave and she will stay if she wants to."
Saying this, Chi Rong snatched the bag of medicines from He Jian's hand and looked at Mo Roulan.
"I will come in a few moments, Dad."
Mo Roulan said to Chi Rong in a hoarse voice.
Chi Rong patted her head and walked to his car.
Now only she and He Jian were standing in front of each other.
He Jian couldn't say a single word to Chi Rong but to Mo Roulan, he had so many things to say.
He pulled her in his arms immediately and hugged her tightly.
"Lanlan, don't leave. Both of us have lost our child. The loss belongs to both of us equally. How can you leave me? We are supposed to heal each other."
Mo Roulan who had a blank face and emotionless eyes smiled coldly when she heard these words.
"You are wrong. My loss is bigger than yours."
After all, she lost her child twice…once in the past life and once in this life.
The difference was that in the past life, it was Shen Yiling who killed her child but in this life, her fears killed her child.
"How can you say that!"
He Jian asked in a voice that was full of disbelief.
"I was also waiting for this child. I was his father. I loved him as much as you did."
How could she claim that her loss was bigger?
Mo Roulan laughed as tears slid down her eyes.
"I envy you, He Jian. I envy you…because you don't know what I know. I wished you also knew everything and it will stay like this now.
I would never be able to get comfort from you because it will only remind me that you have suffered this loss once while I …twice. It will make this relationship toxic. So…I better leave."
"No!"
He Jian said fiercely as he held her hand.
"You can't leave me every time…we love each other."
Mo Roulan's smile was filled with pain when she heard his words.
"We do…but love is not enough. I will never stay happy with you. In that life, I chose you…but in this, I will choose only my happiness."
Saying this she pushed away his hands and then walked towards the car leaving behind confused He Jian.
.
.
.
Mo Roulan left He Jian.
And He Jian never understood what she meant to say that day.
He didn't even go behind her or tried to meet her.
Everyone in He family was confused.
Ji Zhen had been out of Chian during the whole incident. When she returned and came to know of everything she was shocked.
She didn't even know about He Mingzhu yet so when she saw He Mingzhu and heard what He Juan and He Zhing had done to her, she was very furious.
After talking to He Mingzhu for some time, she went to find He Jian and was shocked when she saw him.
Half a month has passed since Mo Roulan left He Jian.
He Jian didn't sleep at all since that day.
His eyes were bloodshot but he still sat on the chair and worked in his laptop non-stop.
Chu Feng left the office when he saw Ji Zhen but he did look at her before leaving with pleading eyes.
Ji Zhen nodded her head in return.
After Chu Feng closed the door, she walked to the chair that was placed in front of He Jian and looked at him silently.
He Jian looked as if he would collapse any moment.
No wonder her son called her.
She knew that two years ago when Mo Roulan left her grandson, He Jian had been in a similar situation but this time, it looks worse.
At that time, He Zhuang was able to take him back home and the doctor made him sleep forcefully under hypnotism.
Even the hypnotism had worked with great difficulty.
But this time, He Jian didn't listen to He Zhuang. He Zhuang even brought the doctor to the office.
But the hypnotism didn't work at all.
Ji Zhen remembered He Zhuang telling her that in Mo Roulan's presence, He Jian could sleep peacefully.
Ji Zhen was surprised as well as touched.
This must be some sort of connection between the two, right?
Mo Roulan was like a medicine to her grandson …a medicine which kept him sane. 2
If she was away from He Jian then he would lose his sanity.
"Jian…"
Ji Zhen called out softly and He Jian finally stopped typing. He raised his head to look at his grandmother and Ji Zhen saw carefully how pale his face was.
"Jian…why don't you go and rest for some time?"
Ji Zhen had always been like a mother figure to He Jian but those moments were rare where He Jian showed his vulnerability to someone.
So even though his heart was hurting, he was in a lot of pain, he still said coldly
"I am fine, Grandma."
Ji Zhen sighed.
She was silent for a few moments before she said
"Jian…why don't you go and see Roulan once? It is normal for her to feel…"
Ji Zhen almost flinched when He Jian shut down his laptop loudly.
"I won't."
His eyes were cold but even Ji Zhen could see the pain hidden behind that coldness.
He Jian was furious and heart.
How could Mo Roulan claim that her loss was bigger! It was his child as well. He was eager to see a cute version that would have his and her traits.
He was eager to see his wife as a mother to his children.
He had spent nights talking to that child when she was asleep.
He had thought of how he would parent her so that he would not turn out cold and emotionless as he and his father did.
So he was also filled with despair when they lost the child.
The thing that made him feel most furious was that she left him so easily.
Every time they face some difficulty, she chooses to leave.
Was it so easy for her?
Why was he so weak then?
Why did he feel as if he couldn't function properly without her?
He had allowed her too much inside his system that now he couldn't even take it out.
Every moment without her made him feel that he was dying slowly and slowly.
That was not how he had wanted himself to be.
He Jian stood up from the chair suddenly.
"Jian!"
Ji Zhen called out but without looking back, he left the room.
Using his private elevator, he exited the office building. A car was already there with the driver waiting for him but He Jian took the keys from him and drove away.
He drove the car for a long time.
The road was empty and it was dark now.
The lack of sleep gave him a headache but he continued to drive.
In the end, his body was exhausted after not getting sleep for so many days.
Hence, He Jian suddenly started to lose his consciousness. His hands holding the steering wheels went weak and his car soon got out of control.
There was a loud sound of a crash and then everything went silent.
Inside the car He Jian was unconscious.
Blood flowed out.
It was never going to be the same for He Jian.
All his confusion will be cleared now.
He will be able to understand what Mo Roulan meant to say when she left him.
But would he be able to bear the pain that will come along with it?
It was something that only time could decide.
