The End

She didn't get out of her room.

But she knew that he was still there outside her room.

She could even feel his presence sometimes just outside the door.

But he never knocked on the door.

The whole morning passed.

It was now two in the afternoon. She needed to do her work otherwise she will miss the deadline and would need to pay the fine.

Money was of course not a problem. She had it enough in her account. So even though she was feeling restless, she didn't go outside the room.

She couldn't even lay down on the bed because now it smelled like him. She regretted putting all the clothes and bed sheets for washing.

Alone inside the room, sitting on a chair she wondered why he remembered everything now!

If only he had remembered everything before…when he thought that she saved his life and wanted to repay her, she was sure that none of this would have happened.

He would not fall in love with her instead he would have despised her and would have never seen her face just like how he did in his past life.

She flinched when she finally heard a knock on the door.

"Eat something. It's alright if you don't want to see me…I will put the meal in front of the door, take it after I leave."

Mo Roulan heard from the other side of the door.

Soon she heard the sound of footsteps indicating that he had left.

She was actually hungry so after pondering for a moment she opened the door and picked up the plate which had food.

Looking at the plate, Mo Roulan was again in thought.

He…he prepared a meal for her?

Why would he do so if he hated her?

Mo Roulan wondered if food was safe to eat but then she shook her head. He Jian would never do such a thing.

Though he hated her very much in the past life, he would not poison her food.

And he had also told her in this life that he knew that she was not at fault regarding the kidnapping incident.

In the end, she couldn't control her hunger and started eating.

The food was actually amazing.

She ate everything.

After an hour of finishing it, she started feeling bored again.

Even her phone was outside.

Another half an hour later, Mo Roulan finally walked to the door. Until when she could stay inside her room like this.

She would go crazy if it continued.

Slowly she opened the door and peeked inside.

A sigh of relief escaped her lips when she saw that there was no one in the living room, hence she stepped out of her room.

With silent steps, Mo Roulan walked towards the table where her laptop was placed but frowned when she didn't it there.

"I took it."

She jumped on her spot when she heard the deep and gentle voice.

She didn't even dare to turn around but her body was completely stiff.

She breathed heavily as she heard the sound of footsteps from her behind….and then a touch on her waist.

And then…she was pulled by him against his chest…in his arms.

"I …hurt you a lot, didn't I?"

Mo Roulan's heart stopped beating for a moment. Her eyes started to fill with fresh tears.

"I …always loved you but I refused to accept it. By the time I accepted, I came to know that you …had already moved on…."

"I didn't!"

Mo Roulan said sharply as she turned around to look at him.

Her eyes were teary and filled with pain as she looked at him.

"I …I loved blindly till the last moment of my life."

He Jian's lips trembled and he swallowed the lump inside his throat as tears slid down his cheek as well.

"I came to know of it later…everything….but it was too late."

Mo Roulan covered her mouth and sobbed in a muffled voice when He Jian suddenly kneeled down in front of her.

"Lanlan…forgive me. You are right…your loss is bigger. You loved me but …due to my insecurities and lack of trust, I could never accept my feelings. I am still selfish…I still want you…I want to rectify my mistakes but …will you allow me?"

Mo Roulan didn't know what to say.

Could she really do that?

Did she have the heart to continue it?

"I don't know."

She said honestly.

He Jian's eyes were filled with pain.

He held her hand and kissed it repeatedly as he said

"Last chance…that's all I ask for. If I disappoint you in any way and if you don't find happiness with me…I will never bother you again. I promise you."

It was not easy.

"I don't know if I would be able to hold myself together if it didn't work out again."

Mo Roulan said honestly.

"I am scared."

He Jian felt guilty to see her so vulnerable.  1

"It's….my fault."

"No…"

Mo Roulan whispered in a trembling voice.

"I know your insecurities now. It was also my fault. I should have been honest with you since the start…regarding the kidnapping incident but I didn't know what you went through during it."

Mo Roulan was sure that something had happened during that kidnapping accident because He Jian would always look strange whenever someone brought it up.

To him, she was a memory of that incident.

And later on…she also became a reason for that incident.

"You were just a child."

He Jian whispered.

And Mo Roulan didn't have anything to say.

"I don't know…"

Saying these words, she went back to the room.

It was difficult…most difficult to trust her fate.

.

.

.

Around three hours later, the door of the room was knocked again.

"Dinner is ready."

Mo Roulan didn't give any response but ten minutes later, she came out of the room.

She walked to the dining table where He Jian was seated and saw that he had not even started.

When he saw her, his eyes were actually filled with hope which made Mo Roulan look away.

She took the chair and He Jian hurriedly picked a plate and filled it for her.

Mo Roulan took the plate from him silently but never looked at him.

However, He Jian's eyes never moved away from her.

Five minutes later, Mo Roulan finally raised her head and said with annoyance-filled eyes.

"You should also eat instead of looking at me."

He Jian immediately looked away and filled a plate for himself.

A very small smile lingered on his lips. Though he knew that she said it because of annoyance as he had been looking at her continuously, he wanted to assume that it was because she cared for him.

But when he thought that he would have to leave soon …he felt as if he was unable to breathe.

He Jian came out of his thoughts when he suddenly heard Mo Roulan's voice.

"One last chance…"

He stilled completely and raised his head to look at her.

Mo Roulan swallowed the lump inside her throat.

She closed her eyes to stop the tears from flowing out. She has cried enough. She didn't want to cry any longer.

"I have given so much to this relationship, to this love ….I think that it deserves at least one last chance."

That was all it took He Jian to leave his chair and walk towards her.

He pulled her towards himself and kissed her senselessly.

He would not disappoint her.

Not anymore.

Fate had played enough.

Now they will write their destiny on their own…together!
