Gu Mian stared at the man, who was holding her tightly, in disbelief. She never thought that Tang Zui would risk his life to save her, to the point that he was willing to fall together with her. He could die too as a result.1

'Doesn't he hate me very much? Why did he do this?'

"Let me go. Both of us will die if this continues! You'll be able to climb up without me!" Gu Mian was about to shove him off.

"Shut up! I'll kill all of your family members if you have the guts to die!"

Tang Zui's face slowly turned deathly pale. It was his first time experiencing how it felt like to be powerless. Due to the strain, more and more blood was gushing out of his hand.

"Hug me tightly!" Tang Zui could no longer maintain his grip on Gu Mian.

Gu Mian hesitated for a while but ended up holding on to Tang Zui tight. Large droplets of sweat appeared on Tang Zui's forehead. He glanced at the two men who were looking downwards at them and growled, "Can't you guys come to the third floor!? Why are you standing there and doing nothing!?"

Si Mancheng and Ye Gu came to their senses when they heard that. Both of them turned and ran downstairs. Long Sijue dragged the young woman who was still clutching her bag tightly and went downstairs too.

"Use one hand to grab the edge first, and I'll push you up." Tang Zui knew that he was running out of strength.

Gu Mian did not know what was on Tang Zui's mind and obediently did as she was told. She grabbed onto the edge with one hand.

"Grab it with your other hand, quick!"

Gu Mian immediately grabbed onto the edge with her other hand too. Tang Zui suddenly supported her backside with his hand and forcefully pushed her up.

Gu Mian was finally out of danger. She lay on her belly and breathed a sigh of relief.

However, Si Mancheng suddenly screamed, "Tang Zui!"

She raised her head and saw that Si Mancheng was charging towards them. She was so scared that her heart almost stopped beating. Meanwhile, Ye Gu quickly grabbed one of Si Mancheng's hands.

Tang Zui thought that he was definitely going to die this time. The moment Si Mancheng grabbed him, he started giggling.

Si Mancheng was so mad at Tang Zui that he almost puked blood. "Why are you still giggling at a time like this!?"

By the time Long Sijue arrived at the second floor, everyone was out of danger. He breathed a sigh of relief.

Long Sijue was truly furious. He could not believe that Su Qianxun had almost lost her life just because of a backpack. He really wanted to give her a good beating, but when he saw how scared out of her wits she was, he was reluctant to do so.

"How is it your fault? I would have done the same if I were you." Gu Mian was still in shock. She still could not believe that Tang Zui, who despised her so much, had saved her.

Seeing that everyone was all right, Long Sijue suddenly turned and left. Su Qianxun knew that he was furious. She wanted to call his name, but ended up swallowing her words.

Tang Zui glanced at Gu Mian as he sat on the floor. He then asked Su Qianxun, "Chick, what on earth is in that backpack of yours, to the point that you don't mind risking your life for it?"

Su Qianxun did not answer his question.

"I'm sorry for bringing trouble to all of you." Su Qianxun did not feel like explaining herself. She knew that she was truly at fault this time.

Ye Gu fixed his gaze on her. His hands were trembling slightly, giving away how truly terrified he was. The moment he saw her fall off the edge, he felt that he would have jumped down without hesitation if she were to fall into the corrosive liquid for real.
