3.13 Help!
"What happened to him?!" Rosemane exclaimed in shock. Cathy had pinged her communicator out of nowhere and asked her to come into an empty classroom to see an 'interesting' show otherwise she was going to regret it. Rosemane thought it was weird judging from how secretive her tone was. She curbed the intention of finding Altair on her own and turned her heels toward the designated classroom.0
Only to find his half-brother laying on the floor, writhing and groaning in the mixture of pain and pleasure. Shock wasn't even adequate to describe what Rosemane was feeling right now. She recoiled from the strong scent of pheromones in the room and Cathy handed her a mask which she hastily wore. It wasn't only Alphas' pheromones that could incite Omegas into heat but they could also be affected by fellow Omegas.
Cathy laughed. "Do you remember the new perfume I told you about? The one that will be used for research purposes to regulate an Omega's irregular heat? I stole the sample from my father's room."
Rosemane's jaws hung open. "And you...used it on Oliver?"
Her disbelieving tone caused Cathy to frown. "Why are you so surprised? I am helping you ah! Didn't you say that this shitty Omega steals your mate from you?"
Rosemane looked at Cathy as if this was the first time she had seen this best friend of hers. Well, she had indeed complained a little bit—exaggeratedly, maybe—about how she and Oliver wanted the same Alpha and how Oliver presumptuously claimed ownership of him. She even cried because this time she was serious, she indeed fell in love with Altair at first sight. He hadn't even marked Oliver yet so what was wrong with a fair competition? Why did Oliver have to be so petty? Who knew who would emerge as the winner in the end, right? However, never in her wildest dream did Rosemane expect that Cathy would resort to such a...such a heinous act!
"Cathy, this is a crime! If something wrong happens to him, you will be held accountable!" She said anxiously.
"Don't worry." Cathy patted her hand in comfort. "Once he has been marked by another Alpha, he won't be able to do anything. I will make sure of it."
Rosemane showed a conflicted look. Indeed, Oliver was her brother but she dared to admit that she had never cared about him. There wasn't even a hint of sibling affection between them. Moreover, if Oliver was out of the picture...then Altair would be hers. She gulped and started to feel tempted. Noticing it, Cathy's eyes took on a sly glint and she tapped on her communicator. "If you're done looking at him, let's go. A few minutes later, an Alpha will enter and they will mate. Or...do you want to stay and ensure the bond is created successfully?"
Goosebumps erupted along Rosemane's whole body and she shuddered. The anticipation she felt was quickly replaced by dread over Cathy's malicious words. She took in a few shaky breaths and shook her head. "L—Let's go. I don't want to stay here any longer…"
However, she hadn't taken a few steps yet when Oliver suddenly stirred and propped his elbow up with much difficulty, wobbling and slipping before he did. Blood trickled down his jaw from having bitten his tongue to keep his consciousness awake. He fixed a death stare at them with desperation similar to a savage beast. His chest heaved raggedly and eyes bloodshot in fury. "I...won't forgive you! I definitely won't…!" He spat out through gritted teeth stained with crimson blood.
Rosemane stiffened as their eyes locked midair and the feeling of guilt rose up in her gut before it was promptly suppressed. She tried to convince herself. No, it wasn't her. This was Cathy's idea and she had no choice but to play along. After this, she would definitely be kinder to Oliver, she would even put in some kind words to Father Emperor for him. All he had to do was to yield Altair to her. As simple as that. He could definitely do that...right?
"Stop looking at us with that kind of look, you bastard!" Cathy kicked Oliver on the stomach and the latter rolled over with a muffled groan, his body spasming. "I have even chosen a good Alpha for you. You should be a bit grateful, got it? Otherwise, who would want an Omega like you?!"
Tears brimmed on Oliver's eyes as he was slowly consumed with despair. A broken sob escaped his lips. Through his blurry eyes, he saw Rosemane and Cathy's back getting further and further. He tried desperately to hold himself up yet he couldn't even muster a bit of strength. This was unlike the heat he experienced a few days ago. It was more intense, awful and...terrifying. Pain racked his body—not only from the place where Cathy kicked him earlier but every single inch of his skin. "Don't...go…" He mumbled inaudibly. Something was bubbling in his throat and he abruptly spewed out a mouthful of blood. His eyes rolled back and he screamed from the excruciating pain on his chest.
The two Omega who heard the ruckus glanced back and were shocked to find Oliver's body convulsing terribly. Rosemane staggered and held onto the wall, her voice trembling. "W—What's happening to him?!" Cathy wasn't any better either. Panic flashed through her face as she scrambled for her communicator.
Oliver was unable to hold on anymore. He breathed weakly and the last word that slipped through his inaudible gaps and cries was the name of the man he loved. "Altair…"

He woke up to a crushing heaviness on his chest. It was like a brick was resting heavily atop of him. He took a deep breath almost instinctively and cold air rushed into his lungs tinged with the scent of disinfectant. His mind was disoriented—numbed by his aching bones and throbbing head—and he couldn't even remember his own name for a while. It was like he had gone through Hell and back.
Right, Oliver… his name was Oliver. Where was he and what happened before? His consciousness started to kick in and his brain repeated the previous event. The dread, desperation and fury that took over his mind. His eyes flew open abruptly and he shot up sitting only to lay down again in the next second, pain wrecked every single inch of his body. Colors drained from his face and sweat formed on his forehead. What happened after that…? He remembered nothing except for the agony and tormenting pain. After that was darkness. Boundless, suffocating darkness. He had no idea how he came to. Maybe he heard someone calling his name or maybe…he was just too unreconciled to surrender just like that.
With every strength he could muster, he lifted his heavy arm to probe his nape and almost broke out crying when he found the intact skin and gland patch. There was no bite mark; he hadn't formed a bond with anyone. The rims of Oliver's eyes reddened with tears pooling and he spent a few minutes reveling in the immense relief.
He was still an unbonded Omega. Nothing happened to him. He was still qualified to meet Altair…
Right, Altair! Oliver struggled to sit up again and pulled the oxygen mask off his face. He looked around to find no one in the room. White tiles, white ceiling and creamy walls. The heartbeat monitor connected to him and the IV drips hanging on his wrist. Oliver assumed he was in the hospital now. He badly wanted to know where Altair was and what happened after Oliver didn't come out to meet him. Did Altair search for him? Had he found Oliver in time and rescued him from the disaster that almost befell him? Where was he right now? Why didn't he stay by Oliver's side…?
Oliver probed around his bedside for an emergency button. He hadn't found it yet when the door to his room suddenly swung open and a nurse barged in with an anxious look. Oliver wasn't exaggerating when he said that the nurse almost looked like she would prostrate under his feet upon seeing him awake. "Mr. Oliver! Oh my God!"
There was no 'I'm so glad to see you awake!' or 'How are you feeling?' instead the nurse cried out in desperation. "Help…! Your Alpha is going to kill someone!"
