3.39 What You're Getting

Lu Yizhou's appearance gradually returned to normal; his canines receded and the black veins around his eyes calmed down. His whole body was still tense, holding Oliver up by his hips. If the situation wasn't so serious now Oliver thought he must have laughed. Here they were, discussing the bruise on Oliver's shoulder still with their erections pressing against each other. A low, frustrated whine escaped from his throat. "You didn't." He stressed. "I said it. You wouldn't hurt me, Altair. Ever."  0

Lu Yizhou wasn't looking at him. He raked his eyes over the large patch of blue-purple bruise that colored the skin on Oliver's shoulder down to his arm. It looked hideous, a fatal blemish to his soft milky skin. It wasn't supposed to happen. Oliver wasn't supposed to get hurt. Lu Yizhou was supposed to protect him properly, to shield him from harm, to keep him away from whatever had hurt him. Yet see what happened now? He had been careless. He let Oliver out of his sight for a second and the omega got hurt as a result. 

"Hey, look at me." Oliver called out softly, lifting Lu Yizhou's chin up. Reluctantly, Lu Yizhou dragged his gaze away to meet Oliver's golden slit pupils head-on. "Don't beat yourself up like this. You're making me sad, you know? I told you, this is not your fault. I…" He thumped on his chest and harrumphed proudly. "I have scared the perpetrator off. From now on, she wouldn't dare to act against me anymore."

"Who…" Lu Yizhou gritted his teeth, eyes turning red at the thought of someone harming Oliver. "Who did this to you? Tell me."

Oliver clicked his tongue and said petulantly. "Is that important right now?" He dug his heels into Lu Yizhou's back and pressed the Alpha closer so that he could sense how hard Oliver was right now. "Are you sure you want to talk about another person here? At this time?" Leaning in, he added in a whisper. "Rather than taking me for yourself?"

Lu Yizhou let out a quiet gasp and wrenched his eyes shut. Veins flared along his arms as he strived to keep Oliver in place, fingers digging into the soft flesh of his hips. Wrong movement, because the act pulled a breathless moan from Oliver. One that sounded so lewd that Lu Yizhou could just vividly picture how wet he must have been down there. His fingers twitched; he missed the warmth and tenderness of Oliver's inside. "Oliver…" He breathed raggedly and swallowed hard. It was getting harder and harder to think straight when all the Alpha within him wanted was to pull Oliver's pants down and take him right here against this wall. "You don't know what you're getting yourself into. I…I am not the kind of person you think I am."

Oliver wrapped his arms around Lu Yizhou's neck, fingertips scratching on the soft flesh behind his neck and Lu Yizhou's cock twitched in response. He let out a shuddering sigh. It felt too good he almost melted into a puddle of goo. "What are you talking about? You're you, and I only need to know that. Enough, no need to worry about me. You should worry about yourself instead."

"Me?"

"Uh-huh. Just a moment ago, you can't even talk properly. Are you sure you're okay now?" Oliver glanced down worriedly. Stupid Oliver, he chided himself. Altair's condition should be his main priority but look at him, he almost lost his mind out of lust! 

Lu Yizhou smiled. "But you understand me."

Oliver almost rolled his eyes at that. His cheeks heated up when he retorted. "If it's not me, then who will?" He grew even more embarrassed when the Alpha's smile turned more prominent. "Enough about me. We should be talking about you! You're bleeding all over. What actually happened?" 

All these while, Oliver had shoved the thought to the back of his mind. He wasn't willing to think about Altair and Rosemane being alone all together. One was in heat while the other's rut was arriving. By logic, one should be able to easily deduce what was going to happen. Beastmen were animals by instinct and faced with such a situation, less were able to actually give a fight. Most succumbed to their inner beast and let them take control of their bodies. But Altair was different. Even when he was seduced by Oliver in heat, he never took advantage of it and now, trapped with Rosemane in an enclosed space, he actually managed to go berserk and free himself. The more Oliver thought about it, the more admiration he felt. Altair was different from any other Alpha in ways Oliver couldn't quite describe and he adored this man so much. So much that he didn't know what to do.

"Ah, that woman…" Lu Yizhou's eyes went cold and he showed a disgusted face. "Tried to make me bond with her."

Oliver knew it but hearing it from the man himself still sent him into jeopardy. Sensing his panic, Lu Yizhou turned his attention back to him and ran his thumb in circular motion on his hips. "Sshh…" He hushed softly. "Nothing happened. You saw it. If the teacher didn't come in time to stop me, I might have already killed her." He paused and then said tentatively, not meeting Oliver's eyes. "Were you afraid of me back then?" 

Seriously? Altair was getting insecure now? Oliver snorted. "The sun will have to stop rising before I can be afraid of you." He might have exaggerated it but that's how Oliver honestly felt. Since the day he met Lu Yizhou, the Alpha had given him nothing but a sense of safety and peace. Never before had he done something solely for himself. Everything he did, he thought of Oliver the most. He looked colder than most people yet his heart was the warmest. It was that gentle trait of his that made Oliver fall head over heels and he couldn't have imagined what would be his life now if Lu Yizhou didn't carry him out of the storage room back then. 

It seemed like his awkward consolation was working because Lu Yizhou's body gradually relaxed. He brought Oliver closer and said, "Hang on tight." Without giving him any time to react, Lu Yizhou moved from the wall and Oliver yelped in surprise from the sudden lack of surface behind him. The Alpha's wide palm was splayed across his back, holding him securely as he carried them over to the bed and gently lowered Oliver down. Sensing the omega's eyes on the gashes on his chest, he gave an explanation. "It's just some shallow wounds. I did it to myself." He put his forefinger on Oliver's lips, shutting off his protest. "I needed to do that. The pheromones…it's messing with my mind. It's almost healed already. See?"

He grabbed a washcloth and dabbed it with some water from the jar atop of the table then proceeded to clean the half dried bloodstain on his chest. True to his words, the injuries had scabbed over and only a few pink scar lines remained. 

Oliver let out a small distressed sound. He felt heartache for the pain Lu Yizhou had gone through and deep anger at the foolish thing Rosemane had done. She was forcing herself on an unwilling party. If that's not a crime, then what was?! To distract himself from conjuring up 100 ways on how to exact his revenge on the gravely injured Rosemane, Oliver approached him and grabbed the washcloth from Lu Yizhou's hand, gesturing. "Let me." 

Gently, he dabbed away the blood and grime that's left behind from the match on Lu Yizhou's skin. Then he moved to clean the bloody wrists and the dried blood that was stuck beneath his nails. He could feel the Alpha's intent stare on top of his head and without even looking, Oliver could imagine how intense it was. Heat was radiating off the Alpha's skin and every inch Oliver's fingers landed seemed to quiver slightly. And damn, now he was reminded that Altair was supposed to go into rut. His eyes trailed lower into the bulge that had been there for a while now. Oliver gulped, the sound was awfully clear in the tranquil room. All of a sudden, the tension in the room escalated, so thick that he could slice it open with a knife. Oliver's breathing grew shallow and judging from the little hitches on the Alpha's throat, he didn't fare any better either.
