5.26 You're A Parasite?!
"Hmm! Hrmphh!" The President shook his head again and again.0
"Speak human language please." Lu Yizhou retorted in a bored tone. He slipped out the folded knife from his boot, opened it and dangled the glinting blade in front of Merrick's eyes. "Or do you wish someone would get hurt today?"
Merrick stilled, staring at the knife with wide, terrified eyes. No, no! He couldn't let the knife graze his skin! Being humiliated and condemned didn't even hold a candle compared to having his real identity exposed to the entire world… Real tears started to rain down his face as he shook his head weakly. He wanted to plead for mercy, hell, he could even grovel under the General's feet. Anything — anything but this!
Lu Yizhou could more or less guess what was running in the President's mind. Wait, did he still have a brain? No, right? The King had definitely devoured Merrick's brain and what was left of this person was neither the wise ruler nor the sentinel he used to be anymore. He was nothing but a parasite. A chuckle escaped Lu Yizhou's lips. He was curious to see what the parasite would do in the face of imminent peril. But judging from how desperate Merrick looked, it seemed like the parasite had no way to escape once they had settled in someone's body?
[666: That's right! Host is very sharp, intelligent and mighty! Indeed, the greatest weakness in parasites which have evolved into the final stage is that they can no longer leave their vessel's body. Moreover, the vessel will also weaken after a long period of time. They can only wait until the vessel dies before searching for another one!]
Lu Yizhou raised a brow. [In the original plot, the main protagonist has succeeded in transferring the King to himself before Merrick died.]
[666: *chuckle nervously* Host, why do you have to seek logic in the main protagonist's golden finger? Who knows what they are doing behind the closed door. It's not important according to the original plot, Host!]
Lu Yizhou knitted his brows, still dubious. Well, he would slowly work out the logic behind it later. Who knows… maybe it would be another hidden plot like in the previous world. Right now, he had more urgent matters to do. "I hate to resort to this kind of method, President." Lu Yizhou sighed and shook his head as if he truly regretted it. "But what should I do? Oh." He paused briefly for the sake of suspense and judging from how Merrick's body shook even more wildly, he had succeeded greatly. "How about confessing everything yourself? Right here and now?"
Merrick nodded rapidly. "Hmm–mmm!!"
"Alright." This time, Lu Yizhou made the show to slowly pull the tape off Merrick's face and in an instant, the King spat out the sock in his mouth, heaving raggedly. He hadn't even gotten one second of relief when a sharp sting landed on his neck. "Oops." Lu Yizhou said blandly, not even trying to act like he hadn't done it on purpose. "My apologies, my hands have been in a bad condition since the bombing accident. President, are you okay—"
For a while, the air went deathly still. Lu Yizhou stood in the position he had calculated before to not show his face but still managed to pull the attention straight to the small slash on Merrick's neck that had just begun to bleed.
Lu Yizhou exclaimed in a flat tone that sounded totally scripted. "You… You are a parasite?!"
Merrick looked down slowly to his own body and saw the greenish liquid that trailed down his collar. His breath was stifled. He had bled. In front of the camera. Seen by thousands of people. He had exposed his identity. His head was buzzing and his heart started to pump irregularly. His breath came out rough and when he looked up in the next moment, everyone could clearly see his peculiar expression. His eyebrows were drawn taut and his eyes indeed echoed the desperation he felt, if not for the lower half of his face that was completely flat as if he was out of control of his own expression.
Lu Yizhou's job was done, he harrumphed in satisfaction. Now time to turn off the live stream and take care of the king of parasites. He took out a small rock from his pocket and rotated it between his fingers, intending to use it to hit the tripod and make the camera fall so as to give the impression that something unexpected had happened.
And like a jinx he was, something indeed happened.
[666: HOST, LOOK OUT!!!]
Lu Yizhou's hearing-sense caught a hitch on the President's breath before 666 finished its sentence. He turned in time to see Merrick's mouth opened and opened and opened… So wide that it seemed to split his face into two. Foreboding arose in his chest and he leapt forward with Merrick's sock in hand when the latter suddenly let out an inhuman shriek and along with it was the soundwave so sharp and piercing that it burst through Lu Yizhou's newly healed eardrums. The glass window in the room rattled wildly and abruptly shattered into pieces, unable to hold on against the ultrasonic sound. The ground beneath their feet shook and the tripod lost its balance, bringing the phone with it to the floor. The parasite was still screaming and screaming—
Lu Yizhou's vision was dotted in black and he staggered, holding onto the wall for support as he gritted his teeth and plugged his ears. His palm came away with blood but that was the least of his concern. Swallowing the blood rising on his throat, he leapt toward Merrick and gave him a solid punch that was enough to shift his jaw askew. The scream still didn't stop so Lu Yizhou directly snapped his neck because his knife had flown somewhere else. Merrick's eyes were wide in muted shock as green blood gurgled out of his lips and he finally stopped his shriek. Still unsatisfied, Lu Yizhou grabbed his collar and punched him a few more times. "You… fucker!"
He let go with a huff, breathing raggedly. His head was still ringing and his ears were basically useless now because all he could hear was random buzz. Glancing at the two other people in the room, he found them unconscious but still alive.
In the span of time he had looked away, Merrick's body had started to melt into a puddle of liquid, just like Edin. [Where…]
Fortunately, 666 located the King in a split second. For that, Lu Yizhou forgave it for not noticing any sooner that the King had a high level final move on his sleeves that almost killed everyone on site.
[666: T—There, Host! It has just escaped from Merrick's mouth and is currently hiding behind his collar!]
Lu Yizhou abruptly lifted the corpse's collar and there it was, a fat caterpillar creature that was trying to burrow his way somewhere else. Lu Yizhou pinched it between his fingers with a cold smile. "A parasite without a vessel is even weaker than a baby bird. Should I feed you to the bird outside so you know how it feels to be consumed bit by bit?"
The parasite wiggled furiously in Lu Yizhou's hold.
[666: Ugh, Host, that is plainly disgusting. Please get rid of it at once.]
Surprisingly, Lu Yizhou shook his head. [No, not that easy.] He squeezed and pinched the King between his fingers just for the sake of playing with it.
This world was originally an A level one, comprising existences which could challenge the simulator itself, just like Immortal Zhao and demon Uncle Luqiu in the previous world. In this world, what kind of existence would it be? Lu Yizhou stared at the King, intrigued. Aside from reuniting with his lover and saving him from the brewing doom, Lu Yizhou had been waiting for the chance to study how the simulator worked and who his lover actually was.
He had never believed, not even one second, that his lover was a character created by the simulator.
But who was he actually?
That was what Lu Yizhou wished to find out the most.
He took out a small crate he had brought with him — fortunately he hadn't brought the glass box or else it would have shattered to pieces now — and threw the King there, firmly placing the lock in place.
[666: H—H—Host, what are you going to do with that disgusting thing?!]
Lu Yizhou shook his head to disperse the blackness on the corner of his eyes. Thinking of ways he could dissect the King, he took the phone on the floor, jumped out of the window and dashed across the roofs before the neighbors started to realize that something was off and came knocking. He could take care of the rest tomorrow. Right now, he ought to return to his lover's embrace.
