5.29 Dangerous Feline

The screams and chaos was getting louder. The parasites must have reached the floor right below them. For a while, Lu Yizhou and Doctor Wyatt stared at each other, none intending to back down. It wasn't until one of the nurses screeched, "Doctor Wyatt, they are here!" that Lu Yizhou averted his gaze away with a sigh. He could feel the tension on Terra's body through their linking hand, clearly worried for the doctor yet still insisted on coming with Lu Yizhou.  2

"Don't die so quickly." Lu Yizhou finally said. 

Doctor Wyatt rolled his eyes, irked. "Don't worry, I will live longer than you, General." His eyes fell upon Terra next, and their eyes did the talking that only guides could understand. The tight line on Doctor Wyatt's lips softened and he said to Lu Yizhou as he turned his back. "I will leave Terra's safety in your hands."

Lu Yizhou nodded and started walking away. "I will come back soon."

They finally parted right before the parasites reached them and behind him, Lu Yizhou could hear Doctor Wyatt bellowing angrily. "Running and making a ruckus in the hospital is forbidden, dumbasses!"  Lu Yizhou almost smiled if not for their current situation. 

"Let's go." Lu Yizhou squeezed Terra's hand. Passing through the window, he saw more and more parasites climbing in through the wall. The police had been alerted and sirens rang out in the distance. He also heard the rumble of the helicopter's rotor blade. With his jaws clenched tight, he navigated his way through the chaotic hospital, weaving through the crowd of panicked patients, doctors and nurses, with 666 leading the route. Monroe was flying in front of them, opening the way and acting as Lu Yizhou's right eye.

Their destination: Yves' room.

There was no place safer than with the person whom the universe adored. With Yves, there would be no real life-threatening danger. But to do that, they had to make a detour around the hospital to the opposite wing. They ran up the stairs and Lu Yizhou was too distracted by the noises around and inside his mind that he didn't notice the silent parasite who was sneaking in on him from behind right within his blind spot, eyes focusing on the crate in Lu Yizhou's pocket. He was startled when Terra suddenly let go of his hand and turned in time to see the guide holding an arm out toward a middle aged salaryman whose expression was twisted oddly, eyes flashing green.

Damn it! 

Lu Yizhou reached out and promptly froze when he saw the scene unfolding in front of his eyes.

Terra didn't even touch the man and the distance between them was still a few meters away. Yet as if tripped by an invisible rope, the salaryman crashed flat to the ground, face first, his head promptly exploded to pieces like a cracked green watermelon. Terra's expression was flat, almost unbothered and cold, as he killed the parasite without batting an eyelid. Then as if nothing happened, he turned to Lu Yizhou and raised a brow, challenging him to say something. Perching on top of his head was Blackie who was licking its paw with a satisfied expression like it had just eaten a whole fish.

His impressive air was shattered as soon as he registered the foul scent that the corpse emitted. Terra immediately recoiled and hid behind Lu Yizhou's back, his nose scrunching up adorably.

Lu Yizhou swallowed as a rush of heat washed through his entire body. He had been so used to protecting his lover behind his back, after having done it in a few lifetimes, that he had forgotten that he wasn't weak; had never been weak to begin with. Surely, he was an adorable kitten but he could also be the world's most dangerous feline. It was the sexiest sight Lu Yizhou had ever seen. 

He let out a brief chuckle. Turning to face the guide, he didn't even try to hide the fervent desire in his eyes. "Terra, you have just saved my life."

The tip of Terra's ears reddened and he looked even more pleased with himself without changing his expression. That was an admirable feat. Lu Yizhou filed everything he wanted to do to Terra behind the closed door to the back of his mind and gestured ahead. "Come on. We have little time left."

Along the way, they met three more parasites and Terra crushed them all with terrifying precision and bloodthirstiness, not even giving Lu Yizhou any time to blink. They arrived in the opposite wing without a hitch and from afar, Lu Yizhou caught sight of Yves who was pacing back and forth in front of his room with an anxious look. As they approached, Yves lifted his head and his eyes brightened in an instant. "General, sir!" He scanned Lu Yizhou up and down worriedly. "Are you okay?! The telephone line is down and I can't get through to your doctor!" The relief was palpable on his face and a smile tugged on his lips. "I was waiting here in hope that you will try to reach me sooner or later. Fortunately—"

Yves hadn't finished his sentence yet when a figure suddenly appeared in his line of sight and stood in front of Lu Yizhou, baring his teeth angrily. Stunned, he couldn't react for a moment. He saw Lu Yizhou's eyes soften like never before as they landed upon the young man and Yves got even more bewildered. "Sir…?" He inquired cautiously. "This is…?"

'Terra, my guide."

"Y—Your guide?!" Yves' eyes almost escaped from its socket. His workaholic, curt and grumpy superior had finally found himself a guide?! What exactly had happened during the time he was in a coma?! He looked at Lu Yizhou and Terra back and forth, astonished. 

He had always imagined that the guide who would be suitable to stand beside the competent General was someone soft-spoken, gentle and kind; someone who could soothe the General's rough edges and complement his violent nature. Who could guess that his type was someone who was equally violent and hot-blooded? Yves had never seen such a ferocious guide before. And why was Terra looking at him as if… as if he was scared that Yves would steal General Kai away? 

The corner of his lips twitched. He already met his dream guide, okay?! He was gentle, courageous, with a heart truer than gold. His features were delicate yet bewitching at the same time and looking into his vibrant green eyes were akin to looking at the source of life itself. A huge, muscular sentinel like General Kai wasn't even his type!

Yves couldn't forget him since then. He was sure that he would be able to spot the guide among the crowd; despite the chaotic and messy the surroundings, the guide possessed a certain charm that seemed to pull Yves in and drive him crazy by each second and it took not even five minutes for Yves to realize that no matter what he did, his eyes would always gravitate toward the guide. Yes, for example, Yves' eyes almost immediately zeroed in on the haggard young man who appeared in the mouth of the hallway, chased by a fierce woman dressed in silk, chiffon gown…

Yves' eyes went as wide as saucers. "J—Joshua?!" Was he still dreaming?! What was the odd of meeting his dream guide in this kind of place?!

By reflex, Lu Yizhou placed himself in front of Terra as he watched the main protagonist Joshua run in their direction, pale and terrified. "H—Help! Please help me!"
