5.30 Diligent Student
Without even thinking, Yves rushed forward to place himself in between Joshua and the madwoman. He held onto the woman's wrists, confused and angry at the same time, especially when she tried to bite him like a rabid dog! Left with no choice, Yves could only twist her arms behind her back and forced her to kneel down. Despite that, the woman still didn't stop struggling. "You're dressed so well. What are you acting like this for? Can't you just talk peacefully instead of resorting to violence?!" 2
"I—I have no idea either!" Joshua, who was hiding behind Yves' back, said in a trembling voice. It evoked Yves' protective nature even more. Goddamnit, if she was a man, he would punch her on the face already! How dare she cause his dream guide to look so afraid and jittery?! "She suddenly started attacking me out of nowhere and—"
"Kill her, Yves."
Yves glanced at Lu Yizhou from the corner of his eyes, perplexed. "But, Sir…"
"What you're holding is no longer a human. She's a parasite, a stage 3 parasite who has completely taken over their vessel."
It was through years of training that Yves didn't immediately throw the woman away. "F—Final stage?!" What was this parasite doing chasing after Joshua?! He hadn't even seen— well, scrap that he had already known that the President was another parasite from the live stream. But still, seeing one in real flesh was still enough to rattle him! "What is it doing here?!"
Now that Yves knew the person he was handling wasn't even human anymore, he didn't hesitate to break both of the woman's limbs in one sharp movement. A mournful, high pitched scream erupted out of her throat, the intensity was enough to make Lu Yizhou wince as he fumbled around to search for earplugs. Damn it, he had forgotten to bring his earplugs with him!
His discomfort was evident in his frown and the tight line around his lips. It was only for a split second but enough to make Terra see red. He stepped away from Lu Yizhou's back and decided to take the matter into his own hand. In the next second, the woman's head exploded into pieces and greenish brain matter splattered all over Yves and Joshua. Both of them were equally dumbfounded and Joshua's pale face directly turned sickly blue. Because of Yves in front of him — who was unfortunately drenched from head to toe — the stain only got to his pants but that was enough to evoke some unpleasant memories Joshua had been trying to forget.
"No…no…!" He muttered quietly, again and again.
Yves cursed out loud and retreated a few meters away, taking Joshua with him. His eyes were wild as they landed on Terra. "You… are you the one who killed her?"
Terra deemed it below himself to answer such an obvious question. He merely stepped to the side so that his whole frame was returned to being hidden behind Lu Yizhou's broad back. Thus, Yves' eyes automatically shifted to Lu Yizhou, full of questions and urgency. Lu Yizhou strived not to show the discomfort on his face. Ugh, the smell — it was obvious how shocked Yves was, judging from how he didn't even react a bit. He stated coldly. "You'd better wash the substance off your body and also…" He gestured toward Joshua.
It was then that Yves realized something was wrong with Joshua. Despite shaking his shoulders and calling his name, the guide seemed to have immersed himself into a particularly terrifying nightmare. His slender body was quivering and his green eyes turned dull and empty, lips muttering something incoherent.
Terra peeked at the two through Lu Yizhou's shoulders and frowned at Joshua. Something was weird with that guide, but he couldn't seem to put a finger on it. Guides were able to sense each other but to Terra, this person… he exuded a certain element that only guides possessed but there was also something mixed within. Something foul and unsavory. Terra's scalp was tingling and his instinct kept warning him to get away as far as possible. He hadn't had this kind of reaction toward another guide before. His eyes drifted to the brutal corpse of the woman and something clicked in his mind.
A quiet gasp escaped his lips and his eyes subconsciously sought his sentinel only to realize that the man's attention had been solely fixed on Terra since the beginning. His ears heated up slightly but Terra willed himself to ignore it. He clutched on Lu Yizhou's sleeve and bit his lips. How… How should Terra tell him that the guide over there was also a parasite—
Lu Yizhou shook his head quietly as if to answer Terra's questions.
Ah, he had forgotten that Kai could read his mind, Terra relaxed visibly but still cautious enough to act if anything unexpected happened. If the sentinel had known the guide's identity and still didn't call him out, it meant that he had another reason to do so. Terra trusted him, thus he decided to play along and pretended to know nothing.
Nevertheless, the next look he threw Yves was one of pity. Gone was the inexplicable animosity earlier. That poor sentinel, what was he getting so chummy with a parasite for? Could he perhaps have no idea about it? Terra clicked his tongue in sympathy. How could he be so stupid not to notice such an obvious thing?
Unaware of the silent conversation playing behind him, Yves gently guided Joshua into his room and straight to the bathroom. The water started running soon after, followed by Yves' hushed voice, gently coaxing Joshua to clean himself.
Subsequently, Lu Yizhou also tugged Terra into the room and twisted the lock behind them. As soon as he did, he crowded Terra against the door, arms resting on either side of the guide as he bent down and claimed his lips hungrily. Terra gasped, his eyes flew wide in shock before they gradually fluttered shut as he immersed himself into the kiss. At some point, his hands found their way into Lu Yizhou's shirt, gripping tightly until his knuckles turned white.
The kiss had gone wild as soon as their lips touched; open-mouthed, tongues intimately hooking and tangling with each other. Like dry firewood that caught on the flame, the sparks rapidly spread to their whole body, uncontrollable yet none of them intended to control it either as they chose to be burned, engulfed into the flame of their passion. Lu Yizhou wrapped his arms around Terra's waist, pulling the guide closer and Terra's arms snaked around his neck, the blunt end of his nails digging into the soft flesh under Lu Yizhou's scalp. Terra tugged on the hair roughly when Lu Yizhou scraped his teeth on his bottom lip. The sudden pinprick of pain elicited a groan from Lu Yizhou's lips; a sweet pain he would gracefully enjoy every single time.
Terra was a very diligent student, indeed. He could already apply every technique Lu Yizhou taught him, almost driving the man crazy with need. He couldn't get the image of Terra — golden eyes icy and merciless as he stood over the corpse, long ponytail swaying with his every move — out of his mind. And then there was also this version of Terra, whose eyes were glossy and lips slick with spit, so soft, fragrant and pliant, so passionate and eager in their kiss. Lu Yizhou had long felt himself swell inside his pants when his nose — bless his smell-sense just for this — caught a whiff of arousal from his lover. The hands resting on Terra's waist squeezed lightly and he received a quiet gasp in response.
"Sweetheart." Lu Yizhou whispered against his lips when they broke apart for air, the temperature around them was warm, overly warm from their interlacing breaths. "That was marvelous. You have done very well."
Terra preened under the praise, uncertain whether the sentence was directed toward the kiss or the kill. It didn't matter either way. He went on tiptoe, yanked Lu Yizhou down by his collar and latched on his lips again, resting all of his weight on the man. It wasn't only Lu Yizhou who had been waiting, who had been consumed with this all encompassing desire to be as close as possible. Terra had had a rough night. He had lay on his bed, watching the live stream and stroking his sentinel's face through the screen, longing threatening to overwhelm him in a way that he hadn't felt for the last 23 years. Then everything went haywire and Terra had to brew on his own anxiety, the vivid fear that he could lose the man, again. It was the longest hour Terra had ever had. He regretted letting Lu Yizhou go, regretted that he didn't insist on going along, regretted that he didn't give him a kiss before he left. Then he had to watch as Lu Yizhou was pushed into the emergency room, blood trickling out of his ears…
Terra pressed closer into the man as if wanting to hide Lu Yizhou inside his own body. Terra would protect him and wouldn't let him get injured anymore. Venting all of his frustration, fear and greed, Terra couldn't resist biting on the sentinel's lips, hard enough to draw blood. If there was someone allowed to hurt Lu Yizhou, then it would be Terra and Terra alone!
Lu Yizhou hissed but still chuckled, elated by his lover's eagerness. "I'm sorry. I must have made you worry, huh?"
Terra pulled away slightly to tug on Lu Yizhou's earlobe. His fingers were cold and the ticklish sensation caused goosebumps to flare along Lu Yizhou's arms. "I'm okay." He rasped in answer to Terra's worried gesture. It was completely innocent, Lu Yizhou told himself, he didn't mean anything by that! Alas, he couldn't help his bodily reaction that responded to the light and teasing touches. That was dangerous. They weren't the only ones here.
He inhaled deeply the scent of his lover in time to hear the water stopped running in the bathroom. Lu Yizhou stepped away reluctantly and judging from the scowl on Terra's face, they seemed to share the same sentiment. Lu Yizhou smiled and tucked Terra's hair behind his ear, unable to hold back the burst of fondness and affection within.
When Yves and Joshua came out of the bathroom, clean and half-drenched, Terra and Lu Yizhou had already seated themselves on the couch, hips and arms pressed side by side. Yves changed into a spare clean clothes whereas Joshua looked visibly uncomfortable, his eyes kept darting to Terra in apprehension. If they noticed the cut in Lu Yizhou's lips, then they didn't say anything. In the end, Joshua chose to sit on the bed, the only place furthest from them.
"General Kai." Yves' voice was somber when he spoke. "What was that earlier…? This— I mean, your guide… did he really kill the final stage parasite? With his… mental power alone?" Yves shuddered as he was reminded of the memory.
Lu Yizhou narrowed his eyes. "Do you have a problem with that?"
