5.47 Off-Limits

Lu Yizhou had prepared for Terra to blow his top but to his surprise, the guide was taking everything in much better than he had expected. Terra showed no other reaction other than a thoughtful hum and Lu Yizhou couldn't sense anything from their bond. He trailed the line of the scar on Terra's belly with his fingertips, waiting until Terra finished digesting whatever was in his complex, beautiful mind.0

Lu Yizhou couldn't help but wonder, how would Terra react if he knew that the world he had been living in was conjured up by a series of complicated codes? That he was the villain who was fated to doom every single time?

"Come to think of it, I remembered something else when I was still a demonic cultivator." Terra suddenly said. "It was almost a decade after you…left."

Lu Yizhou subconsciously tightened his hold on Terra, sighing. He knew it, something was off with the simulator. 666 had repeatedly told him that the world would restart by itself as soon as he left. But what did he just hear? He had left his lover, alone. In a world without him for ten years. Anger, sorrow and pain flooded his chest, rendering him breathless. Damn it! He wouldn't… even if they had to tear his soul apart, Lu Yizhou wouldn't leave without him again!

Terra continued with a faraway gaze, his mind wandering. "I sought for the Kunlun Mirror and it brought me to you. I had a glimpse of… the truth of the universe. It's unlike any other place I have seen before. Rows of numbers made up the sky, and the space was limitless with thousands of glowing orbs. There are countless lives, countless different civilizations…"

[666: N—No way, he passed through the information kernel of the main server?! Oh my Admin God, how is this possible?! 666 must be dreaming! And what the heck is this Kunlun Mirror he was talking about?! How could there be such a huge bug in the previous simulation?!!]

Terra's gaze instantly turned sharp. "Who are you? What simulation are you talking about?"

[666: *choke* A—Are you talking to 666?!]

"What is this?" Terra looked at Lu Yizhou, bewildered. "Why do I sense another presence in you?"

"It's okay, calm down." Lu Yizhou hushed softly as he kneaded Terra's shoulders, massaging the tension out of his body. So Terra could really hear 666, Lu Yizhou filed the information to the back of his mind. He poured all of his attention on soothing his confused lover, pressing kisses all over his face. "This will be a bit…overwhelming to hear but please, hear me out first." Slowly, Lu Yizhou proceeded to tell Terra about his mission to save the villain, how he always had the system, the original plot as well as the system store planted inside his mind.

Terra was visibly shaken after Lu Yizhou confessed the truth. "So that's why… you have always appeared at the right time to rescue me, and then you have always guessed everyone's motive clearly and thought ten steps ahead. That's also the reason you knew my name when we first met, right…?" Lu Yizhou startled when Terra abruptly grabbed his arm so tight that his nails almost drew blood, his eyes searching for Lu Yizhou's. The water sloshed between them due to the sudden movement and Lu Yizhou had to hold Terra's waist tightly so he wouldn't slip. "You— You haven't told me everything." He demanded. "You told me about your… your mission to save me and a fucking bizarre machine that talks in your head but you never told me how you landed in this situation in the first place. Are you a willing party? Did you choose to do this yourself? What do you get from all of this?"

His lover was really too brilliant for his own good, Lu Yizhou sighed inwardly. He had deliberately skimmed past the point he didn't want to talk about the most but still, Terra managed to point it out in an instant.

"I—" Lu Yizhou took in Terra's distraught expression and paused. What should he say in this kind of situation? For Lu Yizhou, the time when he committed suicide had seemed so, so far away. With his lover's presence by his side, he had learned not to delve too deep into the past and focused on the present instead. His nightmares had also diminished greatly. At least, Lu Yizhou would be able to get a decent sleep nine out of ten times whilst having his lover in his arms. He had lived his life peacefully, but it couldn't deny the fact that his presence here meant that something was still wrong with him. His willmeter didn't even reach 50% and Lu Yizhou was certain that more than half of it was attributed to his lover. Without him, Lu Yizhou had no reason to stay.

"Lu Yizhou…?"

"Terra, I…" Lu Yizhou inhaled deeply and decided to be honest, fuck it all. Yes, he was broken, twisted, certainly not the kind of perfect guy his lover thought he was and yes, he had sinned atrociously for taking his own life. Terra deserved to know what kind of person he was, wholly. He deserved to know how many cracks and scars Lu Yizhou had in his body and soul. Lu Yizhou owed him that. "Before, I used to—" Lu Yizhou's pupils abruptly dilated as he choked on his words.

"Lu Yizhou?!" Terra immediately straightened up and took hold of Lu Yizhou's ghastly face. Veins flared along the sentinel's neck and he looked like he had difficulty breathing, jaws clenching tight to rein in the pain. Horror gripped Terra's heart as he cried out again. "Lu Yizhou, what's wrong with you?!"

"I—" Lu Yizhou wheezed and breathed in as deeply as he could, coughing. "I'm fine…" He said with a hoarse voice and judging from Terra's stricken look, it seemed like he didn't sound reassuring at all. Lu Yizhou chuckled wryly and cursed under his breath. So talking about the system and his mission was allowed, but sharing about his own past wasn't? What kind of fucked up rule was that? Lu Yizhou tipped his head back and regulated his breathing. Just now…it felt like an invisible force had just yanked half of his soul out of his body, the pain was so gut-wrenching that his vision was dotted black. "I'm sorry, Terra. I want to tell you but… it's off-limits."

"Do not worry about that!" Terra hastily said. He still had lingering fear from suddenly seeing Lu Yizhou almost pass out in front of him. "If… If it causes you this kind of pain, then I won't ask anymore."

"No." Lu Yizhou's face turned somber as he looked straight into Terra's red rimmed eyes. "One day. One day, I will definitely tell you."

Terra sent him a dubious look and pursed his lips. "...Alright."

The pleasant mood between them had been disrupted by this small accident. After the water cooled down, Lu Yizhou carried Terra out, covered him in a large fluffy towel, dried and combed his hair before he proceeded to bundle him in the blanket like a burrito. Terra made grabby hands at him. "Where are you going?"

"Patience, sweetheart." Lu Yizhou then dressed himself only in a sweatpants and flicked the switch off, plunging the room into a comfortable darkness where the only source of light came from outside the window. He joined Terra in the bed and the guide promptly rolled into his arms, his entire body relaxing with an exhale. Lu Yizhou rubbed his back in a soothing motion, trying to erase the wisp of fear left inside him. Dropping a kiss on his forehead, Lu Yizhou murmured, "Have a sweet dream, Terra."

Nowadays, 666's reputation had soared high among the systems in the forum. But sadly, it wasn't the kind of popularity that 666 wanted! Everyone thought it had gone crazy from the stress or bluntly speaking, 666 must have been delusional! Just look at its posts these past few days, how illogical!

[Help! The villain is one and the same all these times! What to do, 666 has confidently told Host that there was no way the simulator would generate the same character again and again, but 666 is sorely wrong! Ren Zexi, Theodore, Oliver and Heimo, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!!! Aahh, 666 is going crazy!]

[Help! 666 is searching for a mirror! If any of you know a mirror called 'Kunlun' please tell 666 okay?! 666 is going to fight it! It's all because of the mirror that the villain can traverse between the worlds! Aaaaah!]

[Help! The villain can hear 666! Oh my Admin God, this is so terrifying! Where will 666's privacy be if everyone can hear what 666 is talking about?! How will 666 live on like this?!]

[Help! Why did 666 have a feeling that a huge conspiracy is playing behind the scene?!]

[...]

[...Is 666 okay?]

[What the hell are you talking about, 666? Speak system language please.]

[Poor 666. Should we report it to Admin God to check if 666 is corrupted by bugs?]

[Sheesh, pwease no. If it's proven that there are bugs in 666, we are all going to be examined, okay? I have had enough of them prodding and poking my codes!]

[Wait, did anybody notice the little disturbance about two weeks ago? I heard the maintenance department say that the recycle bin is filled to the brim and they didn't even know how it happened!]

[It might be just the usual bug. No biggie.]

[Why does 666's Host sound so interesting? 666, do you want to trade places with me?]

[Kunlun Mirror? I seem to have heard it somewhere. Isn't that the famous mirror in wuxia novels? 666, do you want me to make you a mirror? You can name it 'Kunlun' if you want. Don't worry, it won't take long. I only need to input a few codes here and there.]

666: …QAQ

666: You guys are so useless! 666 hates you!

666: And no, 666 doesn't want to trade places with you! Don't you dare steal 666's Host away, hmph!
