[Bonus chapter] 6.61 Birth Of A New Immortal

Ernoul clutched his bloody stomach, cackling and coughing at the same time. He knew it! There was no way a human could defeat him. He had no idea what kind of cursed sword the General got in his hands, but that was as far as he could go. The thick, swirling clouds around were deterring his vision but Ernoul trusted in the might of his new body. He had landed the attack squarely on Jillian, not even Gods could save his life now!2

"Serves you right!" He spat toward the direction of Jillian's body — or what was left of his body, Ernoul presumed. "Damn you and your entire pompous ancestors! What the hell is up with your sword?" He glanced down at his chest. The hole was still bleeding openly. It was different from the attack he had received from others. Not only was he unable to heal himself, there was also an uncomfortable burn spreading through his chest. It made him feel sluggish, similar to the time when he was still alive. Weak, helpless and pathetic. Ernoul hated it!

"Well, I only have to devour a few more souls." He grinned sharply. "After I have destroyed this country, I will teach the God of Plague a fucking lesson. How dare he reject my sincere plea?! I will have to let him know whom he is going against!" With a harrumph, Ernoul turned to observe the ground. Those humans looked delicious… He licked his lips. He couldn't wait to taste them all. Maybe he should start with that useless daughter of his.

He had just taken a few steps when a voice sounded behind him. "Halt."

Ernoul swiveled around in shock. The sea of clouds gradually thinned to show Jillian — the intact, very uninjured Jillian — who had his sword pointed straight at him. "I've told you," he remarked softly. Wind picked up around him, fluttering his hair and for a split second, his eyes gleamed in a sharp, golden glow that was striking against the dark atmosphere. "I will only give you one chance."

Shivers ran down Ernoul's spine. W—What was this immense pressure he was feeling?! Numbness traveled through his entire body down to his fingertips and his body was trembling ever so slightly. Damn it, damn it, damn it! What the hell was going on?! He couldn't be afraid of this brat, could he? That was utterly ridiculous! "How are you still alive?!" He demanded incredulously.

That was also what Jillian wanted to know. He was sure that he would at least lose one limb and suffered through severe internal injuries. But then, seconds before Ernoul's light beam could touch his body, a blinding glow enveloped him and shielded him protectively from the attack before it gradually faded away.

Jillian could still feel the residual thrum of power around him. It was a powerful, ancient spell…

A wisp of light flew close to his side and morphed into the figure of Cyrus, complete with his magnificent horns and the glimmering scales on his cheekbones. "A dragon's blessing." He explained to clear Jillian's confusion. "It's a deal we have made with the God of Darkness. The dragon's blessing will protect you from one major incident."

Ernoul recoiled in shock. "W—Who are you?!"

"Cyrus, the gatekeeper of Heaven." Cyrus introduced himself with a disgusted grimace in his face. "Even without touching you, I know you will end up in Hell."

Luan showed himself next and stood beside Cyrus in all his glory. They made a striking pair now that they didn't hold their aura back any longer. So powerful, Jillian's hands that were holding the sword quivered ever so slightly. The two of them were so powerful and formidable. It was a level totally out of his league!

Ernoul's face paled — if his crimson face could still show color — and fear reflected in his eyes when he saw Luan. Clearly, he had recognized the dragon who had thrown him into Hell. He looked like he was ready to bolt any second.

"I will need your assistance to catch him, General." Cyrus pleaded. "Will you hold him down whilst Luan opens the gate to Hell?"

Jillian hadn't even had the chance to reply yet when Ernoul suddenly turned tail and ran. He all but threw himself down toward the ground. His intention was clear: take as many hostages as he could and devour some for himself. Now that the tide had turned against him, there was no way Ernoul would be so stupid as to face them head on!

That bastard! Jillian gritted his teeth, enraged. Even when he had already become a demon, he was still as slippery as ever! He totally hadn't changed at all! Jillian had said it before, such a person was irredeemable! Unforgivable!

"Wait." He held Luan back when the obsidian dragon moved to give chase. "Leave him to me. Just focus on summoning the gate of Hell."

During the time he was speaking, Ernoul had almost reached the ground. Screams of terror and fear reverberated through the air at the sight of him. Jillian spun the sword in his hand, sucked in a breath and lifted it above his head. Wind gale rose around him and the tip of his sword burst out in crimson flames before it rapidly morphed into blue.

"Ernoul—!" Jillian's voice echoed all around. "In the name of people who had suffered because of your selfishness, who had died because of your greed, who had shed tears because of your cruelty, I will bestow punishment to you!" He threw his sword down and it flew through the sky in a sharp whistle, carrying with it the might of the resentful souls, the people's hope and prayer, as well as his own anger. "You will burn for eternity in hell fire, fueled by the poor souls' resentments toward you!"

The sword pierced through Ernoul's chest right where the previous wound was and the momentum continued until the blade stabbed deep into the ground, nailing Ernoul in place. A piercing howl erupted from Ernoul's mouth as his body was encased in the blue flame. His skin melted and black blood dripped from the wound. In no time at all, he was left with only skeletons as he cried for the agony to stop.

But as Jillian said, he would continue to burn for eternity.

The atmosphere turned as stagnant as deep water as everyone was too stunned by the sudden development of the event to react. For a long while, the air was only filled with the tormented cry of the demon, the stench of burning flesh and rotten blood.

Jillian was breathing heavily, his body still posed in mid-attack. What… had he just done? Back then, it just felt… right. He had no idea where the words were coming from and before he knew it, it had escaped his mouth. His mind was blank save for the anger to bring justice to people who had suffered due to Ernoul's selfishness and it called forth the dormant power within him. Alas, now he couldn't even recall what he blurted out anymore.

Thud!

Bassil fell on his knees and under Jillian's widening eyes, prostrated until his head was flat to the ground. "Our savior, General Jillian!" His words brought everyone out of their reverie and in a blink of an eye, hundreds… thousands of people were kneeling on the ground. Their immense gratitude struck him with the force of lightning and he reeled backward only to be supported by Luan's strong hold.

Aghast, he hastily landed on the ground to lift Bassil up. "No… There's no need to kneel for me, Bassil. Stand up, please."

Bassil shook his head and stubbornly persisted.

Just as Jillian was overwhelmed by the surge of power from the prayers around him — was this how Lu Yizhou felt last time? — a majestic roar resounded across the sky. Everyone lifted their heads with a gasp when they realized that it was a pair of dragons! The silver and black dragon was dancing around each other among the clouds, dispersing the dark gloom and replacing it with a brand new ray of sunshine.

Their voices — booming, imposing and ceremonious — echoed miles and miles away that everyone in the world would be able to hear it. "Heaven has welcomed the birth of a new immortal! From hereon, he will be the God of Judgement, Jillian!"

"My Lord!" Tears gathered in Bassil's eyes as he straightened his back before bending down again in flourish. "Please accept this humble follower's gratitude!"

"My Lord!"

"Bless the Lord!"

"Thank you for saving us, My Lord!"

Throughout the whole battle, Lu Yizhou and Izher were watching him from the sidelines. It was a fight Jillian had to go through by himself, they realized.

"See?" Izher squeezed his hand in reassurance. "Everything is fine. He has even amassed more followers than you in a short period of time! That audacity!"

Lu Yizhou quietly chuckled, fondness gushing from his crinkling eyes. Jillian was so good and Lu Yizhou was very proud of him. He deserved this, to be acknowledged by the whole world, to be loved and revered. To be cherished. "You're right. Everything will be fine."

At the same time with Cyrus and Luan's announcement, the notification rang inside Lu Yizhou's mind.

[System notification: Congratulations! You have successfully completed your mission in this world!]

Lu Yizhou let out a sigh of relief. Finally.
