7.30 Companion Of The Night
Clothes really did make the man, was the first thing that went through Moshe's mind as soon as he saw Lu Yizhou. And then, came a strange hunch that this was how it was supposed to be; that instead of ratty shirts and sweatpants, this man ought to wear suits, looking all resplendent and glorious as if he could walk into any place on Earth and no one would even blame him for that. 0
Then the line of his thoughts shattered as soon as Lu Yizhou bent down to whisper into his ear. Moshe pulled up the corner of his lips into a genial smile that didn't reach his eyes. This pet was getting disobedient again, wasn't he…?
Provoking his master like that, did he think that Moshe wouldn't dare to do anything in Elias' presence?
"Elias." He said without breaking eye contact with Lu Yizhou. "Leave us alone for fifteen— no, half an hour."
"I will be in my office if you need me." Elias bowed and exited the room, closing the door behind him.
In an instant, Moshe had Lu Yizhou pressed against the nearest wall. "What did I say you should call me when we are in public, pet?" He inquired, his sweet tone hiding sharp daggers beneath.
"Master," Lu Yizhou replied, blatantly going against Moshe's order. Moshe's golden eyes were blazing, more thrilled than upset to find a reason to inflict punishment again. Alas, before he could say anything, Lu Yizhou seamlessly continued. "I haven't seen you since morning, Master. This pet hasn't told you today that I love you more than I did yesterday." He lifted Moshe's hand and dropped a gentlemanly kiss on his knuckle.
It had been a trick Lu Yizhou deployed after realizing that Moshe always avoided it when he breached the topic of feelings. Either he was just unwilling to acknowledge it or…
Whatever it was, Lu Yizhou was going to make Moshe face him head on. He wasn't discouraged each day Moshe brushed him off, persistently repeating the same words every single day. Like always, Moshe yanked his hand away and shoved it inside his pocket with a harrumph. He stepped away, the previous conversation forgotten. "Aren't you too conceited to use that sentence every time to evade punishment?"
Well, as far as he knew, that sentence worked like magic. Lu Yizhou quietly restrained a smile.
What Lu Yizhou didn't know was… Moshe wasn't totally unaffected like how his appearance looked. He might look unruffled, annoyed even but in fact, sparks of delight spread throughout his body, almost making his steps as light as floating. For the first few days, he was bewildered and overwhelmed by Lu Yizhou's words, choosing to ignore it once and for all instead of mulling over it.
Nobody had known how Moshe truly was and still fell in love with him. Everyone either eyed his wealth, position or they were merely curious about his prowess in bed. But this pet… Moshe almost never hid anything from him. He talked about butchering people, plotting his enemies' downfall, giving his men all sorts of dirty work that would make ordinary people crawl away from him in fear…
But every single day he opened his eyes, Lu Yizhou still said the same 'I love you' with the same gentle and affectionate look on his face.
After Moshe had more or less gotten used to it, the novelty still didn't wear off. Instead, the words seemed to always inject him with renewed vigor. It was scary how Moshe started to anticipate it all day.
Of course there was no way he was going to tell anyone though. To disperse the strange atmosphere, Moshe started talking about official matters. "In two weeks, there will be a charity auction organized by the Wind Group. You must have heard about that company. I have something important to attend to there. So I need you to be on your best behavior, understand?"
There was one thing Lu Yizhou couldn't understand. "You could have just left me behind…" In this world, Aiden was nothing more than an orphan. His background as a high school dropout and the gladiator fighter was enough to make those rich people look at him with stinky eyes. He would likely embarrass Moshe, nor was there anything about him that Moshe could boast in front of others if he were to come as his partner.
He was ready to sneak into the auction and oversee everything behind the scene so why…?
Moshe harrumphed. "What's with your tone? You are my pet. Of course you have to entertain me in that boring event. If anyone repulsive comes close, then you're allowed to bare your fangs at them."
Oh, so it was like that. Lu Yizhou smiled and dropped down to one knee, once again taking Moshe's hand to place a kiss there. "I will become anything you want me to. Just say the word and I will do it." He looked up to see Moshe's stunned look. His smile deepened. "As I have said, feel free to use me as you like… Master."
"Ha!" Moshe barked out a laugh, tilted Lu Yizhou's chin up with one finger and planted a sound kiss on his lips. "Mark your words," he smirked.

The charity auction was held in the most luxurious auditorium under Wind Group's property, often hosting foreign opera shows or ballet performances. Bodyguards in black suits and glasses surrounded the place, looking stern and domineering. Only reporters who had received a special pass were allowed in and so did the attendees. The security was so tight that not even a fly could get in.
Luxury cars skidded to a halt one after another and the people who descended were either famous entrepreneurs, government officials or people with prominent backgrounds.
"Nervous?" Moshe asked. They were waiting for their turn to descend. Moshe had worn his trademark burgundy suit, this time more lavish with more gold embellishments on his sleeves and collar. A frameless glasses sat atop of his nose with delicate chains catching on the lights, giving him a scholarly yet mysterious aura. He gave Lu Yizhou a fleeting glance. "You're distracted."
"Perhaps I am." Lu Yizhou was going through the plans in his mind. He wouldn't allow the protagonist to harm Moshe again, no matter what. He played with Moshe's pinky finger and said absentmindedly. "I will be watching your back."
Moshe raised his brow, amused. "You're talking as if we're going to war."
Their car slowly halted in front of the gate and the valet opened the door for them. "Mr. Morelli," he said politely. "Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to attend our event."
Moshe nodded and climbed down elegantly. Instead of going in as he always did, he turned back and offered his hand. Under the flashing camera, another man came out after Moshe, his features sharp and extremely attractive. The dark blue suit complimented his skin tone and further highlighted his striking silver eyes. Everyone held their breath when the pair stood side by side, one in red while the other in blue, one smiling while the other aloof. They made a perfect picture of two gorgeous men with contrasting personalities.
"Mr. Morelli, who is this gentleman with you? Please introduce him to us!" The reporters requested enthusiastically. Why hadn't they seen this strapping young man before?!
Despite his smiling countenance, Moshe had always exuded a cold and unapproachable aura but tonight, he actually looked a bit softer! They were itching to dig out everything about this newcomer to see who would be so formidable to stand beside Moshe and not be intimidated by his aura. Instead, they complimented each other perfectly!
To their delight, Moshe wasn't stingy. He wrapped an arm around the other's torso, his smile widening. "Everyone, meet Aiden. He will be my companion for the night. Please take care of him."

Moshe's driver smoothly maneuvered the car into the parking space underground. He was just ready to turn off the machine when a sudden thump sounded, as if something had crashed into the car. The driver instantly broke out in cold sweat and hastily came out to inspect the car. If there was a scratch, he wouldn't be able to repay the cost even if he worked himself to death!
He went around and around, inspecting every crook and corner but the car was still sleek and spotless. "What was that…?" Confused, he scratched his head and decided to put the matter to the back of his mind.
When the driver was gone, a small head popped up from behind the huge pillar, silver eyes gleaming in mischief.
Cheryl, who had just climbed down from the trunk, patted her pink Princess-y dress — one of the best she could find in the wardrobe and of course bought by mommy— ahem, she meant Brother Moshe. She covered her mouth to stifle the giggle. "Time for me to shine!"
