7.37 Don't Come Closer

Two things happened all at once.  0

First, a small bundle of pink crashed into Regius from behind, followed by a childish, enraged shout. "Bad bug, I am going to squash you like a mosquito!" 

Cheryl was already nine years old. For the past few months, she had eaten three luxurious meals a day followed by two sessions of snacks, and after each snack she would take a short nap for an hour. She had gained at least 5 kilograms, her cheeks and tummy all round and chubby. Wiith such a weight barrelled in on him from behind, Regius stumbled and lost his balance with a surprised cry. His momentum faltered and the thing he gripped in his hand actually flew out!

Second, Lu Yizhou had seen the strange glint on Regius' eyes and all of a sudden, his my-lover-is-in-danger radar started tingling. The hair on the back of his neck stood on its end and before his brain could process, he had dragged Moshe behind his back and put himself in front. 

It took him a fraction of second to realize what was currently flying in midair. It was the same glass vial as in the one in Zion's possession! The potent, liquid drug that could turn humans into animals. Just one whiff was enough to make one intoxicated. Lu Yizhou sucked in a surprised breath as the scene in front of him turned into a slow motion. He heard Moshe's exclamation, Regius whose face met the ground followed by the two bodyguards who angrily lunged forward to apprehend him again, the bewildered faces of the people around and lastly… the flash of horror in Cheryl's little face as she screamed, "Brother!"

Lu Yizhou's pupils contracted. If this vial shattered, then the smell would possibly spread around this area. The kind of effect it would cast on Moshe and Cheryl… no, he couldn't let it happen! 

In that critical second, he pushed Moshe out of the way as he leaned backward, trying to catch the vial on his other hand. It bumped against his fingertips and bounced back further. Lu Yizhou did a flip midair to seize the vial right before it crashed to the ground. Alas, there was one thing he had miscalculated. Either his grip was too strong, or the vial was made to be fragile, it actually shattered as Lu Yizhou rolled on the ground to halt his momentum!

"Stop!" He bellowed toward Moshe who was rushing to him, hastily putting a distance between himself and everyone else. "Don't come closer!"

Moshe looked a little ill. "Aiden! W—What…"

"This is an illegal sex drug." Lu Yizhou tried not to breath. But he had taken a sharp intake of air when he landed. The sweet smell quickly clouding his mind. He tried to convey the seriousness of the situation through his eyes. "It will stripped you of your will and consciousness with only one sniff…" The glass fragments dug into Lu Yizhou's palm and blood began to drip out. At least, the pain was helping to sober him up. "Don't come closer until you put on a mask, Moshe!"

"You—" For a split second, Lu Yizhou worried that Moshe was going to charge ahead and disregarding everything but in the end, he turned to Orion and shouted angrily. "You hear him! Go get a mask as soon as possible or I will have your head!"

Lu Yizhou was trying to contain the drug within his closed palm and as a result, it seeped into his open wound, entering his system directly. The effect was immediate. His breathing quickened and every cell in his body was boiling. His vision swam like the world had just tilted on its axis. He stumbled and held onto the wall nearest to him. 

"Aiden!"

"Don't," Lu Yizhou bit out, glaring at the general direction of Moshe's voice. 

[System notification: Warning! An unknown virus has invaded Host's mind! System's protection shield has been erected to ensure Host's safety.]

[666: Host, don't worry! This virus is nothing, 666 will protect you so you won't bzzz…bzzz….bzzz… lose your mind! How dare you intrude on 666's territory. Take this—haiyaaa!]

Lu Yizhou was taking one step backward after another with the wall as a support. On the other hand, Moshe was also taking measured steps forward, maintaining the fixed distance between them. A growl was rising on Lu Yizhou's throat. "I told you not to come closer! You will be affected by the drug like Zion did, Moshe!"

"You're just a pet." There was a noticeable tremble on Moshe's voice. "You don't get to order your master, silly."

Lu Yizhou's breathing was ragged, his consciousness was getting blurry by each second. At some point, he tripped on his feet and stumbled to the ground. Almost immediately, Moshe dashed to his side, gripping his bleeding hand. "Let go, Aiden." Moshe's fuzzy voice sounded close and far at the same time. "You're just hurting yourself like this."

Don't get close… Don't come near me. Lu Yizhou wanted to say but his tongue felt swollen in his mouth and speaking proved to be an impossible thing to do. He shook his head to shake the dizziness to no avail. He could only yank his hand away from Moshe and put it behind his back, keeping it away as he physically could.

"Aiden!" Moshe said angrily. "You—"

"I'm sorry…" Lu Yizhou rasped before he grabbed Moshe by his collar and hurled him across the hallway with all the strength he could muster. After that, he struggled to his feet and ran away. 

He seemed to have run straight into the backdoor because all of a sudden, the night's chilly wind rushed to his lungs. Lu Yizhou coughed as he staggered to the side, grabbing onto the nearest tree trunk for support. Fortunately, he sensed nobody around. Hence he let his body slide down to the ground, sweat rolling down his back like a waterfall as he wheezed weakly. 

Damn it… was this retribution for what he had done to the protagonists? His entire body was scorching and he seemed to breathe lava, yet for some reason his teeth were chattering. His heart was hammering so fast that his whole body trembled along with it, making him light-headed.

The last thing he saw before everything turned dark was a few masked people rushing to him, on the forefront of it was Moshe.

Too many colors… too many sounds… His ears were ringing and he felt as if his head was being split open. The feeling of hands probing his skin was excruciating, so did the cold metal around his body. He wanted…

"Have you gotten in touch with those bastards?!"

"B–B–Boss! Right now, they're focusing on treating their leader. His condition is—"

"I don't want to know! You'd better bring the antidote to me before I lose my patience and charge straight into their basecamp!"

Lu Yizhou tried to move and the chains clanked noisily. 

"Boss, he's awake!" The sound right beside his ear seemed to shoot straight into his eardrums and Lu Yizhou flinched. 

A familiar presence materialized by his side in the next second, hissing in a low voice, "If you speak any louder, I will cut your throat! How is he?!"

Kaede clamped his mouth shut, aggrieved. As of now, he was the only one Moshe could rely on so why did the treatment he receive become worse instead?! Alas, with his boss looking as if he would pull his gun out and massacred the whole room in the next second, Kaede didn't dare to say anything untoward. He lowered his voice into a whisper. "I haven't seen anything like this before, Boss. Whoever created it must be so twisted to have created such a potent and lethal drug. It's designed to stimulate your vital organs and push them into overdrive and in the end, you will die of multiple organs failure."

Moshe's expression sank and his voice was extremely hoarse when he asked, "So, he will die…?"
