6.16 You Have No Idea

2Jillian hummed. The battlefield was often messy and grisly, everyone was trying their hardest to stay alive. Despite being the General, Jillian cared only for strategy and battle formation and left the troops management part to Marquis Ouin. There was no way he could keep note of everyone.  0

But now that he took a closer look, he seemed to have a few impressions of this guy being stationed close to him in a few instances. Not that Jillian ever paid close attention anyway.

"What are you doing in this area?" He inquired with a casual tone. He knew for sure nobody would have come here if not for patrolling and today, there wasn't any schedule of the sorts. That left only one possibility then. "Here to visit the seer?"

"Ah, that…" Hayden scratched the back of his head sheepishly. How could he tell the General that he was here after finding out the assassination attempt that had happened today? The rumors of Jillian being bewitched by a malicious spirit had spread among the soldiers and everyone just couldn't stop talking about it, especially the doll. Exactly where did the creepy doll come from? Did the spirit had something to do with the assassination attempt? Would it cause the General harm? Who would be the best person to ask advice from other than the notorious seer?

He knew that he was sticking his nose in other's business but… when he thought of how the General had acted strangely ever since the doll appeared by his side, Hayden was willing to take any risk and hence, here he was.

He should have known that it was a peculiar doll. Even now, its beady silver eyes were staring straight at Hayden, sharp and piercing and totally unlike how a normal doll should be. Hayden resisted the urge to squirm under the heavy gaze.

[666: Host, Host, you're right. Something is indeed lacking from the plot! Let 666 guesses. First, without Cyrus and Luan's intervention, Jillian would have gone to the seer and found out that Regius was a God and hence, he started praying everyday. And then, Hayden had also gone to seek the seer and… and the seer must have said something to convince him that Regius was the Evil God! Is 666 right or is 666 right?]

[You're right.] It was shocking, 666 wasn't a slow-witted idiot for once.

[666: … Host, you do realize that 666 can hear your thoughts, right? QAQ]

Indeed, that would be the right course of action that drove Hayden to confront Jillian, causing him to be kicked out of the manor. Only then would Hayden be desperate enough to seek the King's audience. If Lu Yizhou's gut feelings were right, Jillian and Hayden must have come to the same seer!

Lu Yizhou narrowed his eyes in contemplation. If that was the case, then Hayden and the seer couldn't be allowed to meet. What should he do to prevent the meeting? Or would it be better to just get rid of the seer once and for all?

[666: Host, 666 has to remind you that you're not an Evil God yet at this point, okay? The more people you kill, the more corrupted you will be!]

[I have already killed two people anyway. What's the difference with one more?]

[666: Why can't you listen to 666 for once?! Hmph, 666 doesn't want to talk to you for the next fifteen minutes!]

[Only fifteen?]

[666: *gasp* it's still not long enough?!]

[You said you don't want to talk to me. Why did you reply?] Lu Yizhou pointed out mercilessly.

[666: Host, 666 hates you so much!!! QAQ]

Hayden blew out a breath and answered in a helpless tone. "Yes, there's something that has been bothering me these past few days. I just want to get every advice that I can."

Jillian nodded nonchalantly, no longer interested in staying there and prolonged the meaningless conversation. "Well, good luck then. I still have matters to tend to so I will excuse myself first."

Hayden bent down to his waist and exclaimed. "I apologize for holding you back, General! Feel free to go on your way. Have a safe journey!"

No, Lu Yizhou furrowed his brows. If Jillian left, Hayden would definitely meet the seer. As much as he was unwilling to have the two within the radius of one kilometre — recalling how Hayden was the one who had led the siege and dealt the last blow on Jillian — it would be more of a pain in the ass if they let Hayden go right now. What should he do? Lu Yizhou's brain was kicking up a gear. He had to either convince Jillian to take Hayden away or he had to cause disturbance enough to pull Hayden away from this place so he could return later to dispose of the seer. Both options required him to act which was awfully implausible with the state he was in now.

Lu Yizhou was ready to buy a bomb from the system store when the corner of his eyes caught a glimpse of movement. There was— no, there were two people on the rooftop, eavesdropping on the conversation! Who could they be…? Lu Yizhou detached himself from the doll and flew up, ready to teach whoever it was a painful lesson and then, he froze when he saw two very familiar figures.

Cyrus and Luan.

The two's amber eyes instantly zeroed on him and Cyrus gave his trademark cryptic smile. "Good day, esteemed God of Darkness. Do you need our help with something?"

Lu Yizhou narrowed his eyes as he felt something click inside his mind. To test the water, he replied. "I need to get rid of the seer Hayden was going to visit."

"Consider it done." Cyrus nodded genially without asking for the reason. He agreed so quickly it was as if he had known what Lu Yizhou was going to say beforehand. For a while, both of them stared at each other, engaging in the silent conversation.

Since the day they appeared, Lu Yizhou had had his own suspicions regarding what their roles were in this world. Half of his doubt was confirmed when he discovered that there were five corpses in the manor when Lu Yizhou had only killed two. Now, he could finally put his final skepticism to rest.

The corner of his lips curled upward. Whoever they were, as long as they only had Jillian's safety in mind, Lu Yizhou was willing to cooperate. "Thank you for your help." He inclined his head in acknowledgement and returned to the doll's body, finally rest assured now that he had gained unexpected allies in this whole situation.

Later that night, when Jillian had gone to sleep — not before sending a flurry of kisses on Lu Yizhou's doll body that filled him with warm current all over his body — he finally had the strength to form a half translucent body. In addition, he was the God of Darkness, the night always made him feel more powerful. He floated out of Jillian's room and wandered along the hallway until he got to the balcony where the two dragons had been waiting for him.

"Your honor," Cyrus greeted. "Please rest assured, everything has been taken care of."

Lu Yizhou nodded and cut to the chase. "Then, I assume you know who I actually am."

Cyrus merely offered him an owlish blink whereas Luan barely spared him a glance. Well, that could be counted as a yes, if one asked him so. Lu Yizhou turned to look up at the night sky, the silky pajamas that Jillian had put on him earlier was hugging his body perfectly, highlighting his pale skin, slender neck and legs that reached a mile. Despite being half translucent, he still painted a breathtaking silhouette under the dim moonlight.

"Since when have you been here?" He couldn't resist the curiosity any longer.

Lu Yizhou knew the other two could sense the underlying meaning behind his question. Why now? In the first world, when Ren Zexi was devastated by his death; in the second world, when he was forced to self-destruct, taking Theodore along with him; in the fourth world, when he had no choice but to leave Heimo; in the fifth world… no, they had appeared in the fifth world, hadn't they?

What had made the difference? The answer slipped into his mind, so evident that it was a wonder how he hadn't thought of it before.

In the fourth world, Heimo said that the Kunlun Mirror had helped him to escape the simulator and then, to no one's surprise, unexpected things started to happen in the subsequent world.

"Oh, you have no idea." Cyrus' eyes turned mildly sad as he replied. "We have been here from the very start but… we were bound by the rules, stripped of our own will and helpless to do anything but to act in the roles that have been forced onto us. It was only when he broke free that we were also able to make a run for ourselves. In a way, we have been helping each other without realizing."

From the very start…? Lu Yizhou's brows knitted. It seemed like he had to review everything he had gone through and people he had met since the first world. "Who are you and what's your goal?"

"Our identity isn't important." Cyrus looked at Luan and received a brief nod in response. "Please believe us when we say that we want nothing but to save you and him. Listen," Cyrus' expression turned solemn as he added. "There's something wrong, very very wrong with this… this whole system. At first, it was created with goodwill in mind, to help unfortunate people to get a second chance in life. But lately, we found out that there's… a threat, a bug. It has forced people to remain here forever, unable to wake up ever again."

Lu Yizhou tensed. This… certainly wasn't the kind of answer he had been expecting. "What do you mean by a threat?"

"We still don't know for certain." The silver dragon sighed. "Just that, it's related one way or another to..." He trailed off and gestured to the general direction of Jillian's room.

Lu Yizhou raised a brow. He had suspected that there was something more with his lover than what meets the eye but Lu Yizhou didn't expect him to be caught up in this whole mess. Not to mention there was also the second villain he hadn't met yet.

Was the existence of two villains also attributed to the bug?

In the first place, Lu Yizhou could almost sense that Jillian was quite different from the other villains he had met before. He was more volatile than ever and the slightest provocation would be able to set him off.

If Ren Zexi was the insecure type, Theodore the rebellious type, Oliver the affectionate type, Heimo the selfless type, then Terra was the combination of the four. It was marvelous; discovering the different sides of his lover he didn't know before and Lu Yizhou loved each side of them.

At first, Lu Yizhou had assumed that he would see shadows of the previous worlds' villain on Jillian but he was wrong.

Jillian wasn't insecure, nor was he rebellious or selfless. He was just… perplexing. He hid a huge bomb inside himself and Lu Yizhou had caught a glimpse of how strong the explosion would be from the flash of madness in his eyes when he took his sweet time tearing one scream after another from the assassin, forcing him to the edge of death only to bring him back again and again like a cat playing with a mouse. He was ruthless yet honorable; hardhearted yet righteous at the same time. Jillian was another unique side of his lover, one that hadn't been affected by the others yet. But—

"What does everything have to do with him?" Lu Yizhou asked tensely.

Cyrus shrugged and gave him a look he couldn't quite comprehend. Instead of answering, he asked in return. "Why do you think his consciousness is scattered across many worlds?"

Lu Yizhou: *points at Luan* Why isn't he speaking?

Cyrus: He has a sore throat.

Luan: *nods*

Lu Yizhou: …oh.

666: Host, don't tell 666 you believe that!
