7.72 Go Haywire

Lu Yizhou gritted his teeth. [Are you fucking done yet?!]0

[666: W–Wait a minute, Host! Every simulator's source code is very complicated and the thing we are talking about is a mini bomb and there's like… a hundred dozens out there! 666 is trying to lock in on the one inside the car!]

But they did not even have a minute! 

The bridge was getting closer and closer, and Ezra desperately steered the wheel toward the guard rail. The engine roared loudly and tires screeched as they avoided oncoming cars in zigzag like a scene straight out of an action movie! With the speed they were going now, the car would definitely break through the rail and plunge straight to the river. Even if they did not die, they would still sustain serious injuries due to the fall!

"Moshe!" Disbelief was painted across Lu Yizhou's face when he turned and saw Moshe still with that calm expression on his face, hands clasped above his thigh. He didn't even bat an eyelid at their imminent peril! Lu Yizhou grabbed his arm, unnerved. "You can complain all you want but I am bringing you out of this fucking car!"

To his surprise, Moshe suddenly grabbed his arm instead and yanked him forward with a burst of strength, catching him off guard. Lu Yizhou tumbled off his seat to sprawl all over the man's lap. His eyes widened in shock. What had just happened?

Moshe's calm and frosty voice sounded above him, "Kaede."

"Just in time." Kaede, who had been hanging onto the grab handle like his life depended on it, suddenly pounced onto Ezra like a cheetah, a furious grin across his face. 

Ezra had never thought that his plan would go haywire at the last minute. Even if it did, he only had to die together with Moshe. As simple as that. Ever since he lost his family under this cold-blooded man's hands, Ezra had lost the will to live. Every single day was spent on planning how to get rid of Moshe once and for all. 

It certainly wasn't easy at all. He had spent years getting close to Moshe, pretended to be his loyal follower, doing the dirty job for him even when all Ezra wanted to do was pull out his gun and shoot him straight on his heart. But Moshe was a very cautious man. Before Aiden appeared, he very seldom showed himself in front of his men, choosing only to delegate Kaede for relaying the mission. 

Years, Ezra thought bitterly. He had lived only for today, and failure wasn't an option!

When Hector first relayed this plan to him, Ezra had had some apprehension. Knowing how strong the bomb was, he couldn't guarantee how many people would get caught in the crossfire and die in the accident. He only agreed when Hector assured him that only Moshe — and maybe a few of his men would die. Deep down, Ezra was unwilling to hurt innocent citizens, he only wanted to take Moshe and his vicious right hand man, Kaede, down! Aiden was already a surprise factor he was guilty about, he didn't want to risk others too! That's why he had the thought of driving the car straight to the river. 

But he certainly didn't expect that he wouldn't even be able to do that!

The composure Moshe and Kaede showed was eerily frightening and dread pooled low in the pit of Ezra's stomach. He had no idea what was running in Moshe's callous mind, hence he definitely had to finish this as soon as possible! When Moshe finally gave his command, Ezra had been prepared for an attack. Thus as soon as he saw Kaede move from the corner of his eyes, he immediately shielded his defenseless opening.

Alas, he didn't expect that Kaede would push the driver's seat back instead! With a surprised cry, Ezra's vision tilted as his seat reclined almost 45 degrees to the back and his hold on the steering wheel slipped out as a result. 

Kaede took control of the wheel with lightning moves, slammed it to the side away from the guard rail, and one of his legs shot out to stomp on the brake. The tires screeched dangerously, black lines forming on the asphalt. Behind them, loud horns and curses sounded one after another. The car lurched to a halt only a scant millimeters away from the guard rail, and black smoke fumed around them. 

Heavy silence descended and the only sounds that could be heard was heavy breathing.

Fuck, Lu Yizhou thought.

The only reason why his body didn't fly out of the window was because Moshe was firmly holding him, protecting his head first and foremost. 

Lu Yizhou's ear was pressed tightly against Moshe's chest and the man's heartbeats echoed through the layer of clothes. Steady, firm and reassuring. Lu Yizhou's jaws clenched, simmering in anger. This psycho! Lu Yizhou knew he had some plans in mind but this was nothing but sheer madness. Moshe's heartbeats didn't even falter a bit after nearly brushing with death! As if it wasn't enough, he even took the leisure to pat Lu Yizhou's hair as if comforting him!

"W–Why…?" Ezra's voice drifted amidst the silence. From Lu Yizhou's position, he could see the man if he only tilted his head. Ezra's body was reclined on the car seat, suspiciously stiff. A hint of panic seeped into his tone. "Why can't I move?! What have you done to me?!"

A solid punch landed on his face, courtesy to the fuming Kaede. "You fucker… you still dare to ask this kind of question! Have you forgotten who I am?!" 

Ezra's expression abruptly changed as realization slammed into him with the force of a train wreck. Majority of The Void's members idolized Moshe for his callousness, quick wit, brilliance and beauty. They had gotten so used to Moshe ordering Kaede around like a secretary, making him do many menial tasks that they had forgotten where Kaede's specialty lay!

Poison Blade. Rumors said that Kaede had twenty different poison hidden on his body, that his blood alone was poisonous enough that the one who fought him had to be careful not to be infected by the toxic. Depriving him of weapons was no use. As long as he still had a drop of blood in his body, he would be able to kill his enemy.

"You…" Ezra gritted out, fat droplets of sweat forming on his hairline. He tried to move his limbs to no avail. His whole body was completely paralyzed! "Did you poison me? When?!"

"Why should I tell you, dimwit?" Kaede smiled coldly.

[666: Host, Host, 666 found it! There are 43 seconds left. 666 will be able to do this!]

Lu Yizhou pushed himself off Moshe, and the latter met his furious silver eyes calmly. He even dared to put on a cheeky smile for the fright he had put Lu Yizhou through! "We will talk about this later," he growled out in a low voice. 

Kicking the door open, Lu Yizhou rolled out of Moshe's arms and got to his feet. He pushed open the trunk to find the time bomb in one of Moshe's shoe box. The timer was quietly ticking, counting down the seconds to the explosion. 

Lu Yizhou scanned it carefully. It was an ordinary time bomb and nothing he couldn't difuse. In case 666 failed — [W–What did you say, Host?! 666 will not fail! Ever!] — he needed to have a backup plan.

Moshe appeared beside him all of a sudden. He clicked his tongue and waved casually. "Just throw it into the river. I will deal with the government later."

Lu Yizhou didn't acknowlegde him. He did not even spare Moshe a glance, treating him like thin air. Lu Yizhou's heart was still hammering inside the ribcage. If he was the only one in such a situation, he wouldn't even bat an eyelid. But if it came to Moshe, Lu Yizhou lost his cool just like a fool, every single time. For what Moshe had put him through, Lu Yizhou thought he deserved to be ignored for a while.

The corner of Moshe's lips twitched. "Not answering your master eh, pet? I told you, just—" Moshe reached out a hand, intending to grab the time bomb and haul it to the bottom of the river. But then, before he could do so, the timer suddenly gave a short beep and stopped at 18 seconds.

His eyes flew wide in astonishment. "What…?" He looked at the bomb and Lu Yizhou back and forth. "Did you just…?"
