8.82 Playing Coy*
Lu Yizhou should have guessed it. His lover was the type of person who wouldn't let himself be bullied and would remember every single grievance to pay them back ten folds. Now that Lu Yizhou had done him such an injustice, how could he be reconciled? Of course he had to retaliate to let the other know how pissed he was!0
Disregarding Ellen's furious demand, low laughter spilled out of Lu Yizhou's lips as he hugged Ellen tighter to himself. Heavens, what should he do with this adorable little guy?
"You still dare to laugh?!" Miffed, Ellen started to struggle and try to push Lu Yizhou away.
His fragile appearance notwithstanding, Ellen's strength should have been great. Lu Yizhou still remembered how he needed those thick unbreakable chains to keep his power in check. But now, the force that landed on Lu Yizhou's chest and shoulders was no different than a kitten's paws. So soft that it made him a little ticklish. No matter how he squirmed about, he just could not free himself from Lu Yizhou's arms.
Even though Lu Yizhou's embrace was strong, he did not actually exert any force. It shouldn't be difficult for Ellen to free himself. Sensing how weak his lover was, Lu Yizhou was suddenly distraught with concern. He pulled away to meet Ellen's angry glare. "Are you okay?" Cupping his face gently, Lu Yizhou inquired. "Did something happen to you back then? Did you get any injuries?"
Ellen seemed stunned by the sincere worry he found in Lu Yizhou's eyes. After a few seconds, he looked away and grumbled under his breath. "What could have happened to me?"
"So why—" Lu Yizhou, this eternally dense and slow-witted man, unexpectedly reached enlightenment for the first time. His pupils shook in realization. Ellen could have pushed him away; hell, he could even kill Lu Yizhou with a crook of his finger if he wanted to. Yet he didn't.
He was just playing coy.
"You—" Words stuck in his throat, Lu Yizhou was rendered speechless by the sheer cuteness of his lover. How could someone, whose appearance was so cold and aloof like a jade statue, be so adorable? His heart was squeezed by a vice grip and a sweet tang permeated his mouth. His heart was so soft for this man that it could directly melt into a puddle of goo. Without him realizing, a wide smile spread across his face and his gaze became so tender and affectionate that it was a bit unbearable to see.
The tip of Ellen's ears turned bright red even though his face remained impassive. He truly deserved his title as the international supermodel seeing how topnotch his acting skill was. Lu Yizhou wouldn't have noticed it had they not been standing so close.
"Let go," he ordered coldly.
Five minutes ago, Lu Yizhou would have complied with his demand for fear of offending him and shattering their barely formed relationship. Now that he knew how dishonest this man's mouth was, how could he let go? Lu Yizhou wound his arm around Ellen's waist and hauled him even closer until their bodies flushed together, not even allowing a sheet of paper to pass through.
Ellen's mouth parted in protest. "You—"
"Between me and Chu Lingshe, who do you prefer?"
Ellen was taken aback by that question which came out of nowhere. But Lu Yizhou did not give him any room to escape. He parted his legs a bit to grant Ellen some space so that they were really standing in each other's personal space. Fortunately, his back was leaning against the sofa so he just let Ellen lean his weight on him. He liked the feeling of it a little bit too much.
Breath intermingled intimately, Lu Yizhou gazed into those golden eyes he loved the most and asked again, "Do you like smiling at her so much?" He rubbed the corner of Ellen's plump, ravishing lips. His voice deepened into a husky murmur. "It's been fifteen minutes since you came in. But you never smile at me even once. Am I that unworthy?"
Ellen blinked twice, seemingly at a loss of words to say.
Lu Yizhou did not relent in his pursuit for truth. "I heard your fans saying how there's a scandal that you're chasing after her?"
Irritation flashed through his soul-hooking eyes. "Those goddamn entertainment paparazzi…" he gritted out.
Those words had given Lu Yizhou the answer he wanted but he still asked anyway. "So, is that true?"
Ellen flicked him a glare. "What do you think?"
"I don't know…" Lu Yizhou drawled out. His gaze turned heavier as he tucked the wayward strand of Ellen's hair to the back of his ear. "Look at you. You're so gorgeous, so brilliant and dazzling. You're born to shine under the spotlight. So many people must have chased after—"
Lu Yizhou's words halted mid-sentence as Ellen suddenly held his shoulders for leverage, went on tiptoe and pressed his lips to Lu Yizhou's lips, shutting him up effectively. It was a kiss so soft and gentle compared to any heated kisses they had had before. Yet the effect on Lu Yizhou couldn't be more disastrous. Shivers ran down his spine and his entire body felt weak as if Ellen had just disassembled him to pieces and left him open and raw.
The kiss lasted no more than two seconds before Ellen pulled away with a cold glare on his face. The redness had crawled to his entire ears and reached his fair neck. "Is that enough for an answer?"
"You're really…" For the lack of words to describe his current emotion, Lu Yizhou merely let out a faint chuckle and shook his head. Gently, he gathered Ellen into his embrace, his heart so full to the point of bursting. Ellen's height was just right for him to put his chin on top of the man's head. He closed his eyes and the confession slipped out of his mouth in the quietest form of whisper. "Sweetheart… you have no idea how long I have been waiting."
It was inexplicably strange. The time he went through in the previous quest was clearly the shortest of all, not to mention that he had met Ella and Ellie. Yet somehow, Lu Yizhou felt as though a lifetime had passed. It was not until now that Lu Yizhou felt whole again.
Ellen's voice was quiet and trembling ever so slightly. "Waiting for… what?"
"For you to be in my arms again."
