8.89 Loophole*

Lu Yizhou awoke to the pitch black room and Ellen's soft breathing against his neck.  0

He had not bothered to turn on the lights earlier hence it was not weird that the room was dark. However, he still knew that a cruise ship was supposed to supply enough lighting outside for guests who preferred to have a late night fun. Night on a luxurious cruise ship could be considered to be the peak of romantic vibes; couples wouldn't possibly pass up on the opportunity to have a dreamy rendezvous. 

But this was too dark, Lu Yizhou noticed in alarm, the unusual kind that made people feel like they had gone blind; it was like a thick layer of shadows had descended into the world and the only thing Lu Yizhou could hear was the soothing crashes of the waves. 

Fortunately, his eyes quickly adjusted to the lack of light.

He intended to check the clock first but as soon as he lifted his head, a strong vertigo overwhelmed him, so much that his stomach churned noisily. Lu Yizhou shut his eyes with a deep frown between his forehead. Oh fuck, he knew this feeling.

He was seasick again. 

Goddamnit it…! Lu Yizhou groaned inwardly. He had forgotten that the world had granted him low stamina. The only reason why he could hold on until now was because of the stock of health potions in his storage. Lu Yizhou drank another one again and regulated his breathing until the nausea subsided. 

As of now, he still had 6 health potions. Let's say that each potion was effective up to eight hours, then his stock was only enough to last him for two more days! After two days, he had to endure the severe symptoms of seasickness; the headache, dizziness, and queasiness…

Just thinking about it was enough to make veins popping out on his forehead.

He hugged Ellen tighter to himself and desperately inhaled the man's alluring scent as a calming agent, forcibly restraining his frustration before it could mess with his mind. There were no side quests which could grant him health potions as rewards. So… either he had to endure everything or he could end this quest before his health potions ran out.

However, judging from the main quest to annihilate 499 guests, the future seemed a little too bleak…

Lu Yizhou heaved out a sigh and slowly propped himself up, careful so as to not rouse his lover awake.

[666: *whisper* Host, are we going to act now?]

Lu Yizhou grunted in affirmation. The quicker he finished the daily quest, the sooner he would be able to return to his lover's arms. Not to mention that he had to carry 666 too… 

Sighing, Lu Yizhou silently padded to the bathroom to dress himself. After that, he walked out of the bedroom toward the window on the living room, peering out at the scenery outside. It was so quiet that he couldn't hear anything other than his own breathing. If Lu Yizhou did not know better, he would have thought that there was only him and Ellen left on this large cruise ship. 

One glance at the clock hanging on the wall told him that it was only 10 pm. Incredulity flashed through Lu Yizhou's silver eyes. Was it logical that everyone was asleep at a time like this? For youngsters, 10 pm could hardly be considered as bedtime and Lu Yizhou was certain that he had spotted quite a lot of them around the ship earlier. Even if they were staying in their respective rooms, it was not possible that they did not make any sound at all.

So why was it so quiet all around?

[666: Host, you don't know? It's a rule in the werewolf game! At night, all guests will fall asleep so werewolves can hunt freely!]

Lu Yizhou knitted his brows. [That will… give a huge advantage to the werewolves camp.] If not for the restriction that they could only kill one guest per day, then werewolves could just barge in on the very first day and annihilate everyone. Not to mention, there was already one guest who died during the daytime…

[666: Yeah, that's the rule! Werewolves reign at night and at daytime, it will be the guests' turn to hold the power!]

Lu Yizhou quickly grasped 666's meaning. [You're talking about the card game.]

666 startled. [Host, you mean…]

[That's right. This quest is not a card game, but we're all humans with our own will.] Lu Yizhou analyzed. 

For example, guests would be able to cast out werewolves during the day. Lu Yizhou still did not understand what it meant by 'cast out' and 'eliminated' but was it possible that the werewolves would obediently let themselves be captured? They could talk their way out, destroy the evidence, or even perform a desperate mass killing to drag a whole lot of people down with them. It was a very likely possibility. 

Otherwise, they could also hide somewhere the guests wouldn't be able to find them. If the guests did not know the identity of the werewolves suspect, how could they vote?

There was already a very big loophole there.

Lu Yizhou had an ominous foreboding. It was the same feeling when he discovered that Ailín had pretended to be a normal human and mingled around them. He had a hunch that this world would not be so simple either…

His gaze could not help but shift toward the tightly closed bedroom door. In this world, what kind of role did his lover have?

Lu Yizhou pursed his lips and shook his head. He would ask about it later after Ellen woke up. He turned around and walked toward the door. [Let's go.] If he was lucky, then aside from fulfilling the daily quest, he would be able to gauge the number of werewolves in this ship too. 

He held the door handle and suddenly stilled.

[666: Host…? Is there something wrong? *shivers* n–no way, there won't be any ghosts on the other side of the door, will there?!]

Lu Yizhou quietly shook his head. He peeked at the peephole and saw nothing suspicious. It was inexplicable, but Lu Yizhou's instinct that had been honed through countless battles told him that something was very, very wrong outside. Deftly, he summoned his silver gun, loaded the ammunition and held it firmly in his hand. 

He opened the door by a crack and pointed his gun outside. 

There was silence. 

Even 666 was holding its breath still, afraid to let out a squeak.

A sharp gleam flashed through Lu Yizhou's eyes as he nimbly shouldered the door open, using it as a cover as he marched out, ready to shoot whatever threat lingered there. However, the sight in front of him instantly stunned him into shock, making him unable to regain his senses even after a while.

[666: T–This… This is…!]

Lu Yizhou let out a quiet laugh. He fucking knew it. There was no way the world would give such a huge advantage to the werewolves camp. Lu Yizhou lowered his gun and looked around cautiously.

Previously, when he came in, Lu Yizhou counted that there were four other rooms in the VVIP area before he arrived at Ellen's room, namely room 301-304. Not only that, following Ellen's room was also a stretch of long corridor for room 306 and 307 before there was a corner leading to the next rooms. 

However, at the moment, all of the other rooms had disappeared. Instead, in front of him was a long, narrow corridor that led to somewhere unknown. 

The cruise ship's interior had completely changed into a labyrinth. 

Lu Yizhou couldn't help but curse. So this was the pit the world had dug for the werewolves camp. Now he knew why all of the skill cards remained active in this world. 

To complete the hunt, they had to enter the labyrinth which held unforeseeable danger.
