8.105 We Meet Again*
The suspicion had been rooted in Lu Yizhou's mind ever since Liu Shi's death yesterday. It was just that he was uncertain whether the one who killed the man was a werewolf or an ordinary guest. There was also another reason why Lu Yizhou did not want to draw a conclusion yet.0
—Liu Shi's time of death.
From the previous quest, Lu Yizhou had confirmed that every player would enter the quest at the same time in order to maintain the fairness. From the time when Lu Yizhou woke up until Liu Shi's death, it had not even been fifteen minutes yet. Even a veteran assassin like Lu Yizhou did not dare to claim that he could lock in on a target so quickly. Not to mention that the murder attempt literally happened in the open swimming pool where tons of people were around.
No matter who it was, Liu Shi's killer ought to be the most dangerous and hidden person in the werewolf camp. They were decisive, ruthless and callous. The most terrifying enemy was not only those who were hidden in the dark, but also those who dared to risk their own life to achieve their goals.
That's right. The hidden person in werewolf camp must have understood the rules and found the loopholes even quicker than Lu Yizhou. Therefore, they did not hesitate to choose one guest to test their hypothesis. And in the end… they won the gamble.
Lu Yizhou heaved out a sigh. Fortunately, they were in the same camp, otherwise this matter would be very messy.
[666: *shudder* Is there really such a person? Oh my Admin God, why do they sound more terrifying than Host?!]
The system was bored because its vision was blocked by mosaic again and therefore, it could come out and make a joke. Black lines appeared on Lu Yizhou's forehead. What kind of person did 666 think he was? 666 made it sound as if he was the most terrible human in the world. Utterly ridiculous.
[666: …that's true though *whisper*]
[What did you say?]
[666: Huh? *whistle* Did 666 say anything? No, Host must have heard wrong hehehe…]
Sister Chen climbed out from under the table and the first thing she sought was her model. Her eyes widened in shock when she found Ellen wrapped tightly in Lu Yizhou's arms. She forgot all of her wounds and almost crawled to them, her voice shook lightly. "Is… Is there something wrong with Ellen? Is he injured?!"
Lu Yizhou offered her a sideways glance. That panicky and anxious face did not seem like a lie… otherwise she could just enter the entertainment industry herself and become a top actress. Lu Yizhou temporarily moved Sister Chen from 'suspect' to 'not likely' inside his mind. "Nothing's wrong," he said.
Sister Chen did not relent. "If he's fine then why—"
All of a sudden, Ellen, who had been meekly laying on Lu Yizhou's arms like a fragile porcelain he was, swiveled his head around to glare at his manager. "If he said nothing is wrong, then nothing is wrong. I never knew you're such a worrywart, Sister Chen."
Sister Chen's mouth gaped open in shock, unable to form any words. Now that she looked closer, Ellen seemed unharmed— no, he was practically untouched even by the dust around! His condition looked a hundred times better than Sister Chen herself!
These two people… How could they find the time to flirt even at a time like this?! Indignation surged in Sister Chen's heart but she firmly swallowed it back down. She felt like she had suffered quite a lot of internal injuries due to dealing with these two people for less than half a day.
However, this man had protected Ellen so well… He was even better than her. Sister Chen sighed inwardly and in the end, decided to offer her sincerest gratitude. "Thank you…" she told Lu Yizhou earnestly. "Thank you for protecting Ellen. You've been a great help." Then she feared that Lu Yizhou would take a mile when given an inch and hastily changed her words. "But don't think that I will approve of this relationship so soon! You still have to give me your identification, work resume and dating record as soon as we disembark the ship, do you hear me?!"
Lu Yizhou: "..."
"Pfft." Ellen covered his laugh into a cough. He followed up with the question with a serious look. "Why don't you answer eh? Do you hear her or not? Don't tell me…" Ellen widened his beautiful eyes and squeezed out a layer of crocodile tears, looking so pitiful like a wilted flower. "You don't intend to get serious with me? Am I only a plaything to you…?"
Sister Chen was enraged. "You—! Surname Lu, don't think that I can't sue you after this!"
Lu Yizhou stared at the gleeful little leopard who gloated at his misfortune, speechless. Ellen's acting skill was so good that if Lu Yizhou had not known better, he would think that he was a bastard himself. Well… as long as he was happy. Lu Yizhou put on a helpless look and nodded at Sister Chen. He did not tell her that whether she could make it out of this ship or not was still unknown…
Because Ellen's identity was special, Lu Yizhou was able to bring him out of the hall before anyone else. Ellen did not stand on ceremony and let himself be carried into his room despite being better than 99% of the people inside the hall, his arms wrapped around Lu Yizhou's neck and head leaning against Lu Yizhou's broad shoulder.
Originally, Sister Chen wanted to come in too but she was ruthlessly chased out by Ellen with the excuse that he valued his peace and solitary and he needed to have alone time after the great incident. Sister Chen looked at the 190 cm Lu Yizhou who walked freely inside the room and was so angry that she almost puked out blood. Peace, solitary and alone time my ass! Just say that you wanted some time together!
In the end, she had no choice but to warn Ellen, "Don't go out of line, do you hear me? I will confirm first with Photographer Song if today's session is still on going but you can't have any marks on your body. Hey, listen to me, Ellen…!"
Ellen slammed the door on her face and rolled his eyes hard. "Hmph, what kind of person does she think I am?"
Lu Yizhou beckoned for him from where he was standing in the pantry. Ellen lifted his chin haughtily. His mouth let out a, "what?" but his body was honest as he started to walk.
Lu Yizhou suppressed a smile. When Ellen arrived in front of him, he easily hoisted the man up to the counter, earning him a surprised gasp. Ellen blinked at him, still not coming to his senses even as Lu Yizhou held his wrist and examined his slender fingers.
He had been too hasty earlier when he knocked Ellen down. There was no time to plan and Lu Yizhou's timely reaction was entirely based on instinct as he observed the girl's abnormal behavior. Fortunately, Ellen was not injured but his fingers were a bit chafed from when they knocked on the ground. Lu Yizhou wet a towel with cold water and carefully dabbed on the small wounds.
Ellen abruptly fell silent as he stared at the top of Lu Yizhou's head, a myriad of emotions flashing through his golden eyes.
Then Lu Yizhou heard his quiet voice asking, "Don't you have to go back?"
Lu Yizhou's movement did not stop as he rummaged through the cabinet for the first aid kit and found a medicine spray. "Go back for what?"
"I don't know." Ellen shrugged. He let out a hiss of pain when the cold spray landed on the scratches and subconsciously pulled his hand back only to be held firmly by Lu Yizhou. "...To investigate?" Ellen's face suddenly changed as he was reminded of something. "Wait a minute, what about you? You have covered me with your own body. Are you injured?" He scanned Lu Yizhou up and down anxiously but could not find any wounds except for the dirt smearing on his handsome face.
"I'm fine," Lu Yizhou lied. His back had been throbbing ever since but because it was not bleeding, then it must only be a bruise. Lu Yizhou would check it out later because he did not want to make Ellen worried. He blew on Ellen's hands and peered up at him with a reassuring smile. "What could have happened to me?"
Ellen stared at him for a second before realizing that Lu Yizhou had returned his words back to him! "Lu Yizhou!" He hollered angrily.
A smooth, deep laugh escaped from Lu Yizhou's lips. "I am serious." He soothed the fur of the bristling leopard, smiling. "There's no need for me to go back either. You're right, I do need to investigate but for me, there's nothing more important than you. Everything else can come second."
Ellen was rendered speechless at his words, his ears rapidly turning red.
Lu Yizhou looked at the shy little leopard and could not help laughing again. That appearance of his was just too adorable. Lu Yizhou used to be a taciturn man, he could literally go on without speaking to anyone for days. Even when he had gotten together with his lover, words did not come easily to him and he always had difficulty in expressing himself. It was unknown at which point he started to change but now, he could even make the other person speechless. It could be said that Lu Yizhou was quite proud of himself.
He reached out to rub Ellen's ear. "How adorable…"
"You—!" Before the little leopard could get angry and brandish his small claws, the doorbell suddenly rang. The two of them paused and looked at each other. Ellen's face twisted in displeasure and he clicked his tongue. "I have told Sister Chen to message me if there's something important. Why is she coming back?"
"It might not be Sister Chen." Lu Yizhou had an inkling on who it was. "May I invite them in?"
Ellen gave him a skeptical look.
Two minutes later, Cyrus and Luan stepped into the living room and faced the defensive Ellen who was half hiding behind Lu Yizhou's back.
"Hello," Cyrus greeted them with a smile and when his eyes landed on Ellen, they softened—to be exact, he was more like a father who was looking at his son. "We meet again."
