8.119 Can You Not Go?*
On the surface, all was calm and peaceful but only the players knew that an open war would begin anytime soon. 1
Cyrus was right to calculate that there would be a war between guest players and werewolves. However, he failed to take into account that human hearts were the most unpredictable. There were tens of players on the ship, all harbored different mindset and different plans. Through the series of coincidences, the open war would be brought forward to day three instead of seven.
…Well, it did not change Lu Yizhou's grand scheme anyway. On the contrary, it might be better this way. The more chaotic the situation was, the easier it was to experiment on his conjecture.
However, he needed to do that in a way that would not be overruled by the system. Just like in the previous quest, because Lu Yizhou coincidentally found Ella's diary which unlocked a breakthrough about the black witch, Diana was able to trigger the special quest and brought the time forward until they finally cleared the game in two days. Everything was a series of coincidences and this time, too, Lu Yizhou needed it to be the same.
There was no suspense after the voting session ended. Captain Rong had been prepared and before the eliminated werewolves could even react, they had already been apprehended, rendering them unable to come up with any tricks to save their lives.
Only their cries of mercy and plead of innocence echoed in the air even after they had been dragged out of the hall…
Lu Yizhou took his gaze off them and shifted to Captain Rong. It might the the trick of the light but for a split second, Lu Yizhou seemed to see greed flashing through his otherwise heavy gaze. Lu Yizhou calmly made eye contact with Cyrus across the room and knew that he had not seen wrongly. Cyrus nodded, indicating that they would try to find out more about the daytime version of Captain Rong.
Actually, there was something about the young girl's death that Lu Yizhou was doubtful about.
He was certain that every player on this ship had tricks up their sleeves. At least, they knew how to not court death in this place that was riddled with deadly trap. However, the young girl's accident happened in broad daylight and her corpse was coincidentally placed in a spot that was not so conspicuous but could be easily found if someone had keen eyes.
This was the main problem Lu Yizhou could not fathom no matter how he thought about it.
The girl's body was already dragged to the hull, why not throw it straight to the ocean to erase the evidence?
Certainly, the culprit would not be so stupid as to eat without cleaning their mess, right? Something clearly smelled fishy here. For some inexplicable reason, Lu Yizhou's gut instinct warned him that a conspiracy was brewing behind the scene…
If Lu Yizhou could think of it, certainly Cyrus and Luan also could. Lu Yizhou nodded and entrusted the task to them.
He turned and offered his hand to Ellen. "Shall we go?"
Lu Yizhou could tell that Ellen was distracted, obviously by what he had said earlier. Along the way, Lu Yizhou could not help but ruminate on it. He did not feel like he had said something wrong, except for how he had let slip on how he did not care about his werewolves teammates at all. Could it be the matter that had been plaguing Ellen?
Both of them were silent along the way, each immersed in their own thoughts. Sister Chen, who was accompanying them (more like keeping an eye on this pig surnamed Lu so he did not land his greasy paw on her model again), did not notice anything at all.
When they arrived at Ellen's room, Sister Chen reminded him of the schedule like usual. "This afternoon, Photographer Song would like to take the last set of photos of you and Chu Lingshe." She offered a skeptical glance at Lu Yizhou, adding, "...He also told me that Mr. Lu, you have to be present on the set and be prepared in case he wants to continue the session this morning."
Ellen nodded to indicate that he understood. He waved his hand impatiently and was ready to close the door when Sister Chen exclaimed hastily, "Don't forget tomorrow's meet and greet session. You have to take a full rest and appear in your best condition for the fans, okay?!" Her implications could not be clearer. This was plainly a veiled threat for Lu Yizhou not to do anything to Ellen which could affect his stamina tomorrow.
Alas, before she could get a reply, Ellen glared at her and directly slammed the door on her face.
Sister Chen was so angry that she almost pounded on the door again. Alas, in the end, she could only swallow it back down and simmer in her own fury. She wanted to prevent her cabbage from being devoured clean by the pig, but what could she do if the cabbage was the one who actively sent himself to be eaten? How frustrating!
Lu Yizhou asked after hearing Sister Chen's retreating footsteps, surprised. "You have a meet and greet session tomorrow?"
"Yes, that's the program arranged by the company." Ellen rubbed his forehead, plopped himself on the couch and slumped bonelessly against Lu Yizhou's body. "We're on this ship to take a special photoshoot session with Photographer Song and in order to boost the popularity before the exhibition comes out, the company set up a special meet and greet session for a limited number of fans and paparazzi."
That's also one of the reasons why the tickets for the cruise ship sold out almost immediately after it was released. For those lovestruck fans, this was the golden chance to spend seven days in close proximity to their idols. Not only that, they could also attend the special meet and greet session! Who would waste such an amazing opportunity?
Lu Yizhou's brows furrowed deeper and his originally solemn face became even more grave. Meet and greet session. A space where a lot of people gathered together. Also, the imminent war between the guest players and werewolves…
This was not simply a gut instinct anymore but he was 100% certain.
—Something terrible was going to happen during this upcoming event.
For example, if Lu Yizhou was a werewolf who was obsessed with clearing the game, then he would seize the chance to perform a massacre. A group of fatty sheep had been delivered to the mouth of the starving werewolves just in time when they could not endure it anymore. How could they ever resist?
The more Lu Yizhou thought about it, the uglier his face became.
Ellen keenly sensed the plunge of temperature around Lu Yizhou. He straightened up and asked worriedly, "What's wrong?"
Lu Yizhou pursed his lips. "Can you not go?"
"...Huh?"
"The meet and greet tomorrow. Can you not go?" Lu Yizhou asked with the most serious tone he could muster. His time was running out and hence, he did not hesitate anymore to pierce through Ellen's disguise. "...You're a guest, aren't you, Ellen?"
