8.120 Impossible Task*

Ellen stared at him for one long moment, so long that Lu Yizhou felt the oxygen around him thinned and he could not properly breathe. He had been prepared for the worst, but the thought that Ellen would be caught in the crossfire tomorrow filled him with an unprecedented sense of anxiety and fear. Lu Yizhou did not fear death, nor would he shy away from pain.  2

…He was only scared that this man, whom he cherished more than his own life, would get hurt.

Ellen's lips moved. "If I say no… will you believe me?"

That answer was so unexpected that Lu Yizhou could not react for a moment. "You're not…?"

Ellen shrugged with a self-deprecating smile on his face. "I did not enter this world as a player, how can I possibly get a role? In your eyes, I might be considered an NPC."

Lu Yizhou's eyes widened in surprise. Ellen was an NPC who did not have a role? No, that's not right. Even if he was an NPC, then he would still get the 'guest' role. It was just that NPCs did not realize their own role, they only thought that they were an ordinary guest who came to enjoy the seven-day luxurious cruise ship vacation, unaware that they were heading straight to their demise. In this way, it could explain why Ellen was unaware.

…But what about Ella? Last night, Lu Yizhou had confirmed her role as a 'doctor' and Ella would not lie to him. If Ella could get a role, then she was considered as a player in the eye of the system. 

Looking at Ellen's casual look, he did not seem to realize the discrepancy between two personalities in his body.

Lu Yizhou was getting more and more confused. Ellen said he was not a player, but Ella's words claimed otherwise. Then… what about Ellie? Lu Yizhou's heart gave an uneasy jolt. It was already the third day, but why didn't Ellie wake up yet? Both Ellen and Ella had appeared on the very first day so was it normal for Ellie to remain asleep until now?

"Is there something wrong?" Ellen asked calmly, a hint of caution flashed through his eyes too fast to be noticed even by Lu Yizhou's keen eyes.

Lu Yizhou was brought out of his thoughts by Ellen's voice. He then raised his eyes to Ellen's face, trying to find the slightest hint of clues but found none. He frowned. Ellen did not seem to lie to him but Lu Yizhou had a hunch that he was still hiding something very important. Rather than brooding in his own thoughts which ended up affecting his trust toward Ellen, Lu Yizhou chose to ask him directly instead. "What about—"

Dingdong!

The doorbell suddenly rang out, cutting Lu Yizhou off sentence. He shifted his eyes toward the closed door with a faint murderous aura. If not because he knew who was standing behind the door, Lu Yizhou would have ignored it in lieu of continuing his conversation with Ellen. Alas, he curbed his temper for the time being and sighed. "Do you mind if I invite Cyrus and Luan in?" He asked Ellen.

Ellen did not have a problem with it and thus, Lu Yizhou got up to open the door for the guests. 

Cyrus and Luan's faces did not look too good. They did not waste time on pleasantries and directly recounted their discoveries. After the voting session ended, Cyrus and Luan decided to approach Captain Rong to see if they could find out something about him.

"He's too tight-lipped." Cyrus said with a grim smile on his face. "Obviously he knows something, but it's not easy to get the hint out of him. But at least, we can prove one conjecture. The creature you saw last night in the engine room should be him. His body reeks of blood and rotten flesh. Honestly, it's appalling."

To be able to make the usually calm and composed Cyrus to show such a disgusted look, this Captain Rong was quite commendable. 

Lu Yizhou nodded. "Yes, that's already within my expectation. He should be the final boss for the eliminated werewolves."

Werewolves were superior to the guests in any way. They got the right to kill and could remain offensive until the end, contrary to the guests who had to rely on the voting session during the day. The balance of power was already unfair to begin with and hence, the system came out with something to offset this imbalance.

With Captain Rong's presence, it should have become a fair game. However, the presence of human heart had turned it into a precarious thing.

In other words, not only did the werewolves have to be on guard during the voting session, but they also had to be careful not to be stabbed in the back by fellow werewolves, especially the one who liked to take sneaky videos. And to top it off was the flesh eating Captain Rong… 

Lu Yizhou kneaded his temple. This world was too full of pit, even a seasoned assassin like him could not help but be drained mentally after being besieged from all sides.

"Do you have a plan in mind?" Cyrus asked. At first, he had assumed that the open war would commence on the very last day but obviously, the tense atmosphere during the voting session proved him wrong. The plans they had discussed yesterday were not suitable anymore.

To his surprise, Lu Yizhou said readily. "Yes. If everything goes according to plan, then we might be able to clear the game in two days."

Three pairs of eyes snapped to him in shock. 

Lu Yizhou added, "But I still have a few things I have to confirm. As soon as I can confirm my doubt, then we will leave."

Cyrus was stunned. Then, he threw his head back and laughed. "Alright, let's listen to your plan."

And so Lu Yizhou did. Obviously his plans received a lot of complaints, especially from Ellen. However, the four of them discussed it until noon and gradually felt that it was feasible. Ellen still had a few protests but upon seeing that Cyrus and Luan started to be persuaded, he could only sit back and sulk by himself. He did not even want to look at Lu Yizhou until the meeting concluded.

Lu Yizhou helplessly rubbed his head only for his hand to be swatted away by the angry little leopard. He felt sweet and bitter at the same time. He knew that Ellen was worried for his safety but he really had no other choice. In order to force the truth out of Ellen's mouth, Lu Yizhou could only resort to this plan.

"I will be okay, I promise," he said softly.

Ellen harrumphed, stomped his way into the bedroom and slammed the door, using every way he could to throw tantrums.

Unfortunately, this time, Lu Yizhou had already made up his mind. He could only try to coax Ellen later. Lu Yizhou saw the two men off and closed the door behind him. In an instant, the last vestige of temperature in his silver eyes chilled. He did not beat around the bush and told the two others, "Something is wrong with Ellie."

Cyrus and Luan were taken aback and glanced at each other in obvious bewilderment. They had already known that there were three personalities inside Ellen's body but because of the lack of interaction, they could only rely on Lu Yizhou to be the informant. "What's wrong with her?" Cyrus asked.

Lu Yizhou relayed his doubts in a few concise sentences. When he finished, Cyrus and Luan's expression sank, they clearly perceived the severity of the matter. As for what had really happened to Ellie, none of them was the wiser. Cyrus carefully observed Lu Yizhou's solemn face and asked, "And… have you gotten anything from Ellen?"

"Not at all." Lu Yizhou said honestly. The corner of his lips turned downward and he could not help but sigh. "Ellen is too defensive. Not only that, he's also brilliant and astute. As soon as I breach into a sensitive topic, he will skillfully divert my attention, using lies mixed in with the truth to mislead me. It's a pity…" His lips curled into a bitter smile. "If he can just tell me, I will share the burden with him without any hesitation. But at this rate, getting Ellen to fully trust me is an impossible task."

Lu Yizhou could confidently say that he knew his lover very well after all of the worlds they spent together. However, meeting Ellen was akin to a slap right on his face. He was stuck, unable to break down the wall around Ellen's heart, nor could he persuade Ellen to let him in. Ellen's defenses was perfectly impenetrable, as if…

…as if he could die if he let someone in.

Cyrus and Luan glanced at each other, at a loss on how to comfort the gloomy Lu Yizhou. However, it turned out that the man did not need any comforting. He quickly composed himself and redirected his focus to the matter in hand. "Tonight, Ella will wake up. I will try to ask her if she knows something about Ellie. As for the bug…"

He made eye contact with the two men in front of him and cold glint flashed through his eyes. "...they have already messed around enough. It's time to get rid of one of them."

Cyrus and Luan's eyes lit up. They had been waiting to exact this revenge for so long. "Okay!"
