Li Zhu was watching the surveillance footage together with three soldiers around him. Although he had failed to sneak into Zhao Bolin's private laboratory, he did not sit still either. He learned Professor Zhao and Student Lu's schedule for a few days and then, taking advantage of when they were busy in the laboratory, he secretly planted a few pinhole cameras along the corridor on the fifth floor!

The image quality was not actually that good compared to actual CCTVs. However, it was just enough to monitor the two people's movements. 

Li Zhu, together with Yang Tengfei and his subordinates, had been preparing for today.

At first, he could not bring himself to believe it when Commander Yang informed him of Professor Zhao's promiscuity. Or perhaps, he just did not want to believe. In Li Zhu's eyes, Zhao Bolin was his teacher, idol and an ideal researcher whom he always looked up to. His infamous reputation notwithstanding, Li Zhu thought that he was omnipotent. It was not until Yang Tengfei showed him the video taken secretly of Zhao Bolin 'playing' with Lu Yizhou did Li Zhu feel his world turned upside down. 

Just because of a sexual exchange, Zhao Bolin could even let an unrelated person enter his most sacred place! How could such a cheap person become his idol?!

All of the hesitation and apprehension in Li Zhu's heart for 'betraying' his teacher dissipated in an instant. He accepted the task Yang Tengfei issued and became an internal spy who would give a regular report regarding the experiment. Professor Zhao's secretive act of prohibiting him from entering the laboratory solidified his doubt. By now, Li Zhu was almost 90% certain, Zhao Bolin must be lying to him regarding the progress of his experiment!

He bit his nails and revealed an anxious look when he stared at the empty corridor on the screen. "Why hasn't he come out yet?"

The soldiers around him were more steady in temperament. They reassured him, "Be patient. He will definitely come out. It's not like he can hold his bladder all day long."

On the top center of the computer screen was a front camera. As of now, the camera was actively recording the situation inside the room, thanks to a certain system who had turned into a spy these past few weeks.

[666: Host, you're right! They really want to act today! Holy shit… how vicious!]

Lu Yizhou could not help but sneer. Contrary to their speculation, he could indeed hold his bladder all day long. After becoming a zombie, his metabolism had undergone a massive change. He could actually survive without water and all of the Xiao Tuns he had eaten ended up becoming a source of energy for him. However, he deliberately stayed inside the laboratory to see what those people wanted to do.

Yang Tengfei had personally escorted Zhao Bolin to the military basecamp, leaving only Li Zhu and three soldiers who guarded the buildings. These four people were also the main enforcers for today's operation. Or to be exact, it was Li Zhu and the three soldiers were mainly for support. 

If not for Li Zhu informing Yang Tengfei of Lu Yizhou's superb fighting prowess, perhaps Yang Tengfei would only leave one soldier behind. Ordering three of his subordinates to assist Li Zhu already showed how cautious his nature was. However, the three soldiers were not too anxious.

After all, there was no way an ordinary student could fight against three special forces soldiers with guns, right?

Li Zhu twisted his fingers and glanced at the clock once in a while. This was the first time he would attempt something like this and his forehead was soaked in sweat. For some reason, he felt ill at ease as if something would go wrong in the middle. After ten minutes and no signs of Lu Yizhou in the corridor, he asked again, "Should we call him out? What if Professor Zhao returns midway?"

"Don't worry," the soldiers dismissed his worry. "Zhao Bolin will not be able to return today."

Li Zhu's concern was proven to be superfluous because less than a minute later, the door to the laboratory finally slid open. "He has come out!" Li Zhu exclaimed in excitement, his cheeks flushing due to the tension. "He has finally come out!"

The three soldiers stood up, readjusted their protective gears, fastened the dark green helmets, and grabbed their guns. In an instant, their aura turned sharp, typical of a soldier who had blood in their hands. "Let's go, Student Li. Do you still remember your mission?"

Li Zhu could not help but hold his breath. Under the soldiers' penetrating gaze, he clenched his fists and said tensely, "I remember. We will create a fake zombie invasion and a fire. When the alarm rings, you will lead Lu Yizhou away from the fifth floor and knock him out. In the meantime, I will sneak into the laboratory and copy the files in Professor Zhao's computer."

"Good." They nodded in satisfaction. "You only have fifteen minutes. Failure is not an option."

Li Zhu took a deep breath. This was for the sake of humanity, he told himself. He was doing it for everyone's sake. Leave Lu Yizhou to the three soldiers, and his job was only to steal the data! This was all Professor Zhao's fault. If not for him being treacherous, then this day would not have come! After doing prep talk on himself, Li Zhu's nervousness soon receded and his clear eyes gleamed in determination, "Yes, sir!"

While Lu Yizhou was doing his business inside the bathroom, one of the soldiers prepared smoke bomb for the fake fire whilst the other punched the emergency fire button. Sharp alarm blasted through the air, breaking the tranquil atmosphere. Zombies were attracted by the loud noise and they all started to rush toward the Biology Building in unison!

Rapid footsteps climbed up the stairs. The soldier tightened the bandana around his mouth and nose whilst rushing to the bathroom. Inside, Lu Yizhou was leisurely pulling up his zipper. He did not show any hint of panic at the thick smoke that gradually spread around. Upon seeing the soldier, he merely raised a brow.

The soldier faintly sensed that something was off but he could not put a finger on it. He put on an appropriately urgent expression and demanded with a muffled voice, "The zombies have suddenly gone berserk. The building is on fire! Come on, we have to get out of here as soon as possible!"

He rushed forward and grabbed Lu Yizhou's arm, intending to use the chaotic situation to pull him downstairs. Alas, he found that… he could not move at all…?

Rather than a person, he felt like he was dragging a solid block of steel! The soldier almost tripped on his feet due to the inertia. Taken aback, he swiveled around and shouted with a twisted look, "What are you waiting for?! We have to—" Next, he suddenly choked on his words.

—Because the person behind him was staring at him with a smile that did not reach his eyes.

The instinct honed through years of confidential missions immediately warned him of a great danger. All the hair on his body stood on its end. Faint chills ran down his spine. He finally realized what was off with the man in front of him. Too calm! Even when he barged into the bathroom, Lu Yizhou did not show a hint of surprise. It was as if… this person had expected his arrival…

But how…?

That was the last thought in his mind before everything abruptly turned dark.
