10.40 What's The Big Deal?

It took only less than ten minutes from Christian's reaction to go from 'are you fucking crazy?!' to 'well, I suppose I have nothing better to do. Being in prison is so damn boring anyway.'  1

And hence, the matter was set just like that and Lu Yizhou obtained a lucky teammate he was hoping for. As for Percy, there was no need to persuade him to join the group. He directly offered himself as soon as he heard Lu Yizhou's offer to Christian.

For starters, he had been desperately trying to seek a way to escape the prison, and now he had a bunch of capable teammates, so why should he refuse? Moreover, Pandora was in that group… Pandora, whom Percy believed could grant his wish. Pandora, who was his only ticket to revenge. As long as he could get rid of Lu Yizhou, this pesky bastard, then he was certain that Pandora would definitely be willing to hear him!

Four people, each harboring their own thoughts, eventually formed a team to break out from prison.

As they grew further from Z-level, the corpses upstairs had ceased their movements. At first, Lu Yizhou wanted to check it out to see exactly what they were up to, but on second thought, he curbed that intention. If they wanted to break out of prison, then they would go through those corpses sooner or later. It would only be a waste of time and effort to investigate them right now.

At least, this incident proved that those corpses really existed in order to prevent people from entering Z-level, just like a bunch of mannequin guards. But for what reason? And who had arranged them here? Lu Yizhou glanced at his lover beside him and let out a quiet sigh. Even if he wanted to ask, it's not like Pandora could remember anyway…

Earlier, Christian had pressed the button to S-level and so, the group could only stop there temporarily. The lights were still out and the prisoners were sleeping deeply thanks to Pandora's hypnosis ability.

"We should do it now," Lu Yizhou proposed.

He wanted to break the mystery in this simulation as soon as possible. What was the connection between this space and experimental subject 55's mind? How should he shuffle between both eras? In the end, what had happened a century earlier that caused Pandora to be trapped in this place? There were still a lot of unanswered questions in his mind. In the elevator earlier, Lu Yizhou had seized the advantage to skim through the method to break the curse according to the system.

There was only one line written on it — Break out of Nightingale prison.

As soon as he brought Pandora out of this place, then he would be able to break the curse. This was in line with Lu Yizhou's speculation at the beginning. He was certain that the system would not lie to him otherwise it would violate its own purpose of existence to assist the transmigrator.

Lu Yizhou could only play everything by ear and tried to break the curse first. And what would be a more ideal time than now when everyone was deeply asleep?

"Sure," Pandora agreed easily. He had no qualms about going along with Lu Yizhou's plans, but the two protagonists clearly did not think so.

Percy was just too cowardly to go along whereas Christian was more cautious. He had been here for two years and he could confidently say that he knew the prison's layout like the back of his hand. However, even if he knew, it did not mean that he could bypass those stringent security without losing a limb or two. Not to mention that they still had a chip in his body that would generate electricity with only one press.

For the past two years, Christian had explored the prison every night when the prisoners were unconscious. He discovered that whatever supernatural power that caused them to fall asleep had been limited only to the prison building. As soon as they went out, there were still night patrols, guard dogs, high voltage fences, and watchmen on the tower who were not affected by the spell. If they alerted even one of them, then the alarm would be issued and the whole prison would enter a lockdown state. By then, getting first level punishment would be considered very lenient.

Christian relayed his opinion to Lu Yizhou honestly.

Beside him, Percy was already scared just by imagining the mere consequences and almost backed out right there and then. Christian did not even deign him a glance. He was focused on taking in Lu Yizhou's expression and was taken aback when he did not find any traces of fear or hesitation. The man's silver eyes were as calm as usual as if he already had everything under control.

Christian asked in surprise, "You're not afraid?"

Lu Yizhou glanced at him. "I have a way."

[En, it's decided. We will rely on you. Remember, the two protagonists' lives are in your hands.]

[666: T–This responsibility is too heavy for 666 to shoulder… QAQ]

[So, do you want to give up?]

[666: N–No! 666 won't give up!!] Something in Lu Yizhou's tone gave 666 a strong hunch that it would receive terrifying consequences if it were to say yes… QAQ Help, this was coercion! 666 was not given a choice from the start!

Lu Yizhou ignored the system's pitiful wailing in his mind and nodded to his temporary group. "The traps won't be activated so there is no need to worry about alerting the others. If there is something we have to be careful of…" he paused and his eyes turned grim. "...then it should be the corpses upstairs."

Percy's legs shook so badly that he had to support himself on the wall. "W–We have to go through those corpses?!" He recalled the horrifying sea of crimson he had seen earlier as well as the grotesque appearance of the prisoners who died with unwillingness and hatred in their eyes. He was so scared that he almost fainted again!

Christian gave him a disdainful look. "If you're afraid, then stay here. No one has forced you to come with us."

How could Percy stay in this place for any longer?! Moreover, without Christian here… then those people would be able to do anything they wanted to him! Percy shuddered just by imagining it.

He instinctively turned to Pandora, whom he had assumed was the most powerful of them all. "P–Pandora, you really can't do anything about them?" Because he was unconscious, Percy did not hear Christian's confession under the Devil's Whisper that Pandora could control the corpses.

As for Christian, that piece of memory had been erased from his mind. It was not until Percy said this did he suddenly recall an important point. His eyes widened as he gazed at Pandora in astonishment. "That's right… I remember those veterans saying that you can control them!"

"Really?!" Percy's eyes lit up. If he had a tail, then it would definitely wag excitedly behind his butt right now.

No sooner than a flicker of hope was ignited in Percy's heart, it was instantly doused by Pandora's merciless answer. "How am I supposed to control those corpses? Ridiculous." He gave an amused snort as if he had heard a funny joke.

Colors drained from Percy's face whereas Christian's expression darkened in an instant. "You really can't?"

"There are a lot of rumors about me in this place." Pandora shrugged and his lips tilted into a sweet yet chilling smile. "But how much of it is the truth? You can guess the answer on your own."

Christian sank into contemplation. Pandora was right. He had indeed heard a lot of things about Pandora from the veterans. Hearsay he was a two meters tall monster who liked to feast on raw meat. There was also a rumor saying that he was an evil spirit who was left behind by those prisoners who died in the tragedy ten years ago. He had also heard that nobody could look straight into Pandora's eyes because they would turn into stones and that's why he was locked in Z-level where the light could not reach…

He thought of the rumors and then compared it to the long-haired teenager in front of him. Christian suddenly learned that human beings were not only treacherous, but they also liked to spread false rumors. No wonder that they died after gossiping about Pandora.

"It's just a few corpses, what's the big deal?" Lu Yizhou's voice broke through the tense silence. His casual attitude was so stark against the dreary atmosphere that it was almost comical. He looked around then walked to the nearest door and pulled the metal door off the hinges. Under his tyrannical strength, the rusty door issued a harsh shriek before it was torn off. His movement was so smooth and easy it was as if the door was as light as a feather.

Under everyone's stupefied gaze, he handed the metal door to Pandora. "Use this to cover yourself."

Pandora blinked in surprise, then accepted the shield happily. "Sure."

Lu Yizhou walked to another door. This time, instead of pulling off the entire door, he only tugged the metal bar out of the panel, breaking it with a loud crack. Its length was comparable to his lower arm with the thickness enough to pierce someone's body easily. He was very satisfied with it.

Swinging it a few times in the air, he beckoned for the group to follow him. "Let's go."

Christian and Percy: "..."
