Let Me Meet Her

When Lu Yizhou came out, he was shown this video by Dr. Feng. After all, the message was intended for him in the first place.  1

All the while, Lu Yizhou stared at the youth on the screen with an extremely focused gaze. Aside from the tightening line of his jaws, he did not show any other reaction. 

Seeing that, Dr. Feng let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, this video was retrieved after Lu Yizhou had met Zachary, otherwise he could not guess how violently Lu Yizhou would react to it.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the hands he had put inside the pocket were clenched so tightly that indents were formed where his nails stabbed the flesh. He was used to hiding his emotions in front of other people. As such, no matter how sour his nose was, or how his heart felt like it was grinded bit by bit with every droplet of tears 55 shed, Lu Yizhou still looked as calm and composed in others' eyes.

He shot a glance at the man lying in the cabin through the glass window. 

I will wait, he whispered inwardly. No matter how long it takes, I will wait for you so… just take your time to recover.

"Thank you for showing this to me," he told Dr. Feng once the video ended. 

Lu Yizhou understood where the video came from at once. This must have happened somewhere during his last confrontation with experimental subject 17 who decided to blast herself to bring him down. The only one who could save this message for him was… 666. 

Pursing his lips, Lu Yizhou recalled once again how unpleasant his last meeting with the system went. He was not an ungrateful person. 666 had been his companion for so long, yet he could not even bid farewell to the system one last time. This matter had been stuck in Lu Yizhou's mind for days. He could not help but ask Dr. Feng's permission. "Can I see 666 again?"

As expected, Dr. Feng showed a confused look. "What would you meet the system for?"

Lu Yizhou lowered his gaze and said quietly, "There are still a few things I haven't said to it yet."

"Are you getting sentimental, Lu Yizhou?" Dr. Feng asked, incredulous. In his opinion, this young man had always been level-headed and never let his emotions run ahead of him. "They are just machines. There is no way they can feel emotions like us humans."

Lu Yizhou understood where Dr. Feng came from. As the person who had built the system with his own hands, he must have treated them only as tools to aid humanity. Nobody would consider them as companions like Lu Yizhou. He understood it fully, but…

"I'd still like to request one last meeting," he uttered in a firm tone.

Dr. Xiao, who had been silently watching their interaction, suddenly offered her support for Lu Yizhou. She addressed Dr. Feng with a displeased look. "Just let them meet, won't you? Why are you so black-hearted? It's not like this request will consume your lifespan or something."

Dr. Feng was rendered speechless by the woman's rebuke. He took off his glasses and pinched his brows, exasperated. "You're right. It's not difficult for me to grant them a meeting. But 666, this system…" he showed an angry yet helpless look, just like a father who was talking about their rebellious son. "I have no idea how the system did it, but it almost breached through the security layers in the main system. Can you believe it?! My eyes almost popped out of my sockets when I saw the data! Of course, I have to investigate this matter to the very bottom!"

Oh, their thrilling escapade had been exposed at long last, Lu Yizhou immediately realized what was going on. 

As a conscientious Host, he felt like it would be too inhumane if he were to let 666 face Dr. Feng by itself. It was already a scaredy-cat to begin with. How was it supposed to survive under Admin God's relentless interrogation? As such, he took the initiative to take the blame, "It's me."

"...Pardon?" Dr. Feng blinked, confused.

"It's me who told 666 to do that." 

Then Lu Yizhou explained in a simple and concise manner of his wish to stay longer in each world to accompany his lover and how he forced 666 to alter the time limit, the way he took advantage of the A-level world to get to the kernel highway, as well as his fight against the vicious bugs which resulted in 666 obtaining a new ability. 

During his explanation, Dr. Feng's expression had already undergone several degrees of changes, starting from shock, disbelief, speechlessness, until the end… he had no idea what kind of face he was making as he had become too numb from the series of shocking news that came out of Lu Yizhou's mouth. This young man… Not only did he manage to conceive a new AI inside the system with Zachary, he had even roped the system to rebel with him!

Dr. Xiao clapped for him with an awed look, her voice slightly breathless. "...Amazing. That is such a brilliant feat, Lu Yizhou. As expected of the unnamed hero of the Capital Planet."

Both Lu Yizhou and Dr. Feng shot her a speechless look.

"That reminds me…" Dr. Feng held his forehead as if afraid that his head would fall off anytime soon from the stress Lu Yizhou gave him. "I have been trying to contact your… daughter — Bianca, isn't it? Unfortunately, it is not very successful. She is too slippery. Every time I thought I could catch up to her, she would always leave me behind in the ditch. Even when I used your name as bait, she would not respond either."

As expected of my daughter, Lu Yizhou was secretly proud inside his heart. It was only right to be keen and cautious against strangers. He was glad that all those lessons of self-preservation he had given Bianca through years of growing up had not been in vain. When all was said and done, he could not even ascertain Dr. Feng's intention toward her. It was still better to wait until Lu Yizhou showed up.

"Let me meet her." Lu Yizhou said. "If it is me, she will definitely appear."

Dr. Feng had also planned this. Now that Lu Yizhou had proposed it first, he immediately agreed and took the young man to his office. 

At first glance, it looked like a normal office with a long mahogany table, swivel chair, a set of low table and sofas for guests, and a potted plant on the corner. However, as soon as Dr. Feng put his palm on a certain section of the wall, the light on the ceiling abruptly dimmed and the four enclosed sides of the wall broke down to be replaced with a boundless sea of flowing data.

Lu Yizhou stared at the breathtaking sight in front of him, mesmerized. He felt like he was standing on the bottom of the sea with countless glowing small jellyfish swimming freely around him. He reached out to poke a string of codes which coincidentally passed by in front of him, and they trembled and shook their body as if they had really come alive.

"This is my work area." Dr. Feng casually sat down on his swivel chair and pulled the hologram keyboard in front of him. His fingers flew smoothly in midair and at the same time, another string of codes appeared out of nowhere and joined into the stream of flowing data. "I have summoned her. Let's wait."

For the past few days, Dr. Feng had spent countless hours in his office, working as he waited for a response from the other side. Yet it was as if his calls were small stones sinking into the deep sea, unheard and unnoticed. This time, he had also been prepared for a long wait. In the meantime, he opened the unread messages in his terminal and started to work. 

"Just sit anywhere you like," he told Lu Yizhou without looking up.

Alas, never had Dr. Feng expected that they did not even need to wait for a minute. He had only read the first sentence of the message when he sensed a disturbance on the other side. Shocked, he lifted his head to see a bunch of data materialized in front of Lu Yizhou to form the silhouette of a young girl with two pigtails. 

"Daddy!" A cheerful, crisp voice echoed in midair as the incandescent figure threw itself into Lu Yizhou's arms.

"...?!" Dr. Feng's glasses almost slipped off his face.
