One of them was the former Crown Prince who was missing from the royal assassination three years ago, while the other was the very person who topped the wanted list of the army. She and Dr. Feng had taken great lengths and risks to hide the two of them in the research institute, but if the army found them… No! She must not let that happen!

There was no time to waste. The military warship was going to arrive in a few minutes!

Dr. Feng made a split second decision and crouched down beside Lu Yizhou. "Come on! Put him on my back!" He urged Dr. Xiao in an anxious tone. "You go and support Zachary! We have to go! Now!!"

Zeke stared at them back and forth, his golden eyes frenzy in panic. He hugged Lu Yizhou closer to himself as though it was the only way he could prevent the man from being taken away from him. "G–Go where?! He is injured so badly, how can we move him just like this?!" 

He had no idea to what extent Lu Yizhou's wounds lay, but judging from Dr. Xiao's shaken reaction earlier, he could surmise that it was not anything good. Even until now, Lu Yizhou had not stopped bleeding! He was bleeding so much that Zeke's clothes were also getting soaked in blood! Zeke's heart trembled in extreme fright. What if they were to aggravate the wounds along the way and… made the situation worse and even caused him death?!

To begin with, Dr. Feng did not have great patience as Dr. Xiao. He hollered right in front of Zeke's face, causing colors to drain from the latter's face. "If he stays here, then he will definitely be dead by the time the army arrives!"

"Zachary!" Dr. Xiao suddenly grabbed his shoulders and forced him to look her in the eye. "It's okay, I promise you. He will live. I will definitely save him! Do you trust me?" The strong conviction and determination in Dr. Xiao's eyes were blinding and that was just the anchor he needed to stabilize his unnerved soul. As if he was a dying man desperate for air, Zeke hung onto every word Dr. Xiao said and finally loosened his tight hold around Lu Yizhou's body.

Biting his bottom lip hard, he watched anxiously as Dr. Xiao pulled Lu Yizhou's body up and draped him over Dr. Feng's back. 

"Ugh—!" The veins on Dr. Feng's forehead bulged out from the sudden addition of weight on his back. He almost could not stand up and toppled to the ground along with Lu Yizhou. Goodness, what the hell did this man eat to grow so heavy?!

"Can you do it?!" Dr. Xiao asked as her hands hovered restlessly around Lu Yizhou's limp body, afraid that Dr. Feng would unceremoniously drop him to the ground.

"I… can!" Dr. Feng spat out through gritted teeth. Then mustering every drop of hidden strength inside his body, he forced his legs to stand up straight and bellowed toward the other two. "Let's go!"

Dr. Xiao nodded and helped Zeke to his feet.

Together, they left the rooftop and rushed down the stairs as if their lives depended on it. Sweat trickled down Dr. Feng's face like bullets and the muscles on his entire body screamed in protest as he forced them to overwork. Never before had he been cornered to such a desperate situation. As the head administrator, his job required him to stay in the office and supervised the working of the main system. He could do them all with a swipe of his hand. Where had he ever carried someone so heavy while running down so many flights of stairs? 

There were a few times when he felt like his legs were not his own anymore, but as he sensed the weak puffs of breath against his neck and Lu Yizhou's body warmth that was quickly dissipating, he could not bring himself to give up. He had no choice but to grit his teeth and keep going forward! Unknowingly, he had broken through his physical limit.

Dr. Xiao and Zeke followed closely behind him.

Zeke's eyes were focused on Lu Yizhou's back as well as the trail of blood that dripped down his body. So much blood… There was so much blood… Each droplet of blood that fell from Lu Yizhou's body was akin to hot oil that splashed onto his icy heart, sending waves of aching numbness down to his fingertips. His entire body was drained of strength and he would not have been able to walk had Dr. Xiao not supported him along the way.

Along the way, he could not keep his mind from wandering wildly. Could Lu Yizhou hold on before they even got out of this place? 

"The blood…" he murmured in a daze, his voice almost inaudible. "What if they found Lu Yizhou's blood…?"

Dr. Xiao cast a quick glance at the head administrator and saw that the latter was so tied-up with bearing Lu Yizhou's weight that he could not spare a moment to talk. As such, she took the initiative to answer. "It's fine. The system will take care of it." She thought that this answer would not be enough to give Zeke a peace of mind, and thus, she started to ramble,

"In case you don't know, we have already been prepared for a situation like this. You have been with us for three years, and there will be times when the government will do regular inspections around the institute. When that time comes, Dr. Feng will bring you to the neighboring building. He has prepared a car there and then, he will take you to a hiding place. We have a medical cabin on standby. So long as Lu Yizhou is put inside, then his life will not be in danger."

Truth to be told, Dr. Xiao was downplaying the urgency by a whole level. The government's routine inspection was scheduled and when the time was near, Dr. Feng would bring Zeke away a few days before. The whole operation would be very secretive and smooth. It was totally different from now, when they were fleeing under everyone's gaze and also carrying a severely injured patient.

However, Zeke was obviously not in a lucid state of mind. It was already commendable of him to be able to stay awake for so long after having just woken up from a coma, especially after everything he had gone through after that. 

When he heard Dr. Xiao say that Lu Yizhou would not be in danger, a sliver of relief wormed into the crack of his heart, almost prompting him to burst into tears right then and there. It was through sheer willpower and pride that he managed to hold it back. 

The journey to the neighboring building was smooth, if they could exclude the heavy snow and uneven grounds due to the explosion earlier. At least, the army was clearly too preoccupied with the reappearance of exploding crystal balls to notice them.

Dr. Xiao pulled open the door, shoved Zeke into the shotgun seat before helping Dr. Feng to place Lu Yizhou on the backseat. Because this was a hover car that had been prepared for Zeke, there was an emergency medical kit equipped inside. As soon as Lu Yizhou settled inside, Dr. Xiao immediately climbed up after him and connected the detectors to his vitals.

In an instant, alarms blared out inside the hover car as the detectors showed glaring red warnings!

Zeke stared at the very weak pulse on the screen and felt as if his entire world had screeched to a halt. His breathing, his blood flow, his heart, even the tremors on his body, everything stopped in that split second as he watched Lu Yizhou's heartbeat line slowly becoming flat.
