Right???
It took Dr. Feng a whole night to deal with the military procedure. Fortunately, no other mishaps happened and the other researchers were not stupid enough to reveal Zachary and Lu Yizhou's presence when it was evident that the Head Administrator himself intended to hide them. Or in other words, they did not dare to offend him at all.0
As for the traitor, in consideration that he was only used by the enemies to gather information, Dr. Feng only chose to fire him and ban him from any future position in the institute. Losing his position as the researcher in the Capital Planet's most advanced institute was already the most severe punishment Dr. Feng could mete out.
Relieved, he left Dr. Xiao to deal with the aftermath and drove to the house outside the heart of the city to check on both his patients.
He had thought that they would still be resting after a long arduous day. Yet to his utter surprise, he found one of them sitting in the living room with a cup of steaming coffee while reading the news about yesterday's 'terrorist attack' in his terminal.
Dr. Feng paused in the doorway. For a second, he thought that he was hallucinating due to the severe lack of sleep. He rubbed his eyes, but the scene in front of him remained unchanged. He checked the time and found that it was only six in the morning. He recalled that he had specifically advised Lu Yizhou to stay in the medical cabin for a full twenty four hours to ensure that his burn wounds would not get infected. So what the hell was this person doing out here?!
Lu Yizhou noticed Dr. Feng's presence and did not look surprised at all. He gave a subtle nod of acknowledgement. "Good morning, Dr. Feng. Do you want a cup of coffee?"
Dr. Feng tried and tried to endure, but in the end he could not help but curse under his breath. He raked his fingers through his hair, further messing up his crooked ponytail before striding into the living room. "Goddamnit, I knew that I shouldn't have–" His words abruptly halted when he caught sight of the metal trash bin beside Lu Yizhou's feet.
Aside from the leftover sachet of instant coffee, there were lots – and he really meant it by saying a whole lot – of bandages that were tainted in old and new bloodstain. Dr. Feng's face paled due to anger, but in the end his concern over this man won over everything and he scanned Lu Yizhou's body anxiously, "What's wrong? Why is there so much blood?!"
"Sshh, please lower your volume," Lu Yizhou glanced at the closed bedroom with a frown. "Zeke needs a lot of rest."
Oh there was nothing wrong with Lu Yizhou's words, nothing at all. Yet for some reason, when Dr. Feng connected two and two together, an inconceivable possibility surfaced in his mind. The corner of his lips twitched. "You didn't climb out of the medical cabin to move into his room, right?"
They should not be that desperate… right???
Lu Yizhou took a sip of his coffee calmly. "If he didn't see me when he woke up, he would get worried."
"But is there a need to go that far?! Do you need to prove your virility too?! I know you two are lovebirds but… argh!" Dr. Feng yanked on his ponytail, frustrated. It was true that only birds of the same feather would flock together. Both of them were a pro in driving him crazy! In the end, he could only let out an exasperated groan as he gestured at the trash bin like mad, seething. "Can't you at least wait until your wounds recover? What do you think he will react when he sees this?!"
Lu Yizhou cast him a speechless look as if he could not figure out why Dr. Feng reacted so strongly like this. "Don't worry, I was planning to burn them when you arrived." As though to prove his words, he took out a lighter from his pocket and set the bloodied bandages on fire. Flame crackled inside the metal trash bin and it did not take even three minutes for everything to turn into ash.
Then Lu Yizhou raised a brow as if asking, 'See?'
"...That is not my point!" Dr. Feng was really going to go crazy soon. However, he still took into consideration that Zeke was deeply asleep and did not dare to raise his voice for fear of rousing him.
Taking a deep exaggerated breath, Dr. Feng tried to adjust his mentality in the shortest time possible. After all, he was someone who had braced through countless rain and storms. He refused to let these two annoying lovebirds mess with him further! "Get up," he ordered coldly. "Let's go back to the medical cabin and check whether you have broken this body of yours or not."
Lu Yizhou put on a helpless look. He had no choice but to comply. He knew that he would not be able to persuade Dr. Feng otherwise, not when he was the guilty party in the first place. Standing up, he instinctively leaned his weight to his left uninjured leg and limped forward. The bones in his right leg were broken and no matter how advanced the healing technology in the medical cabin was, there was no way it could mend broken bones in a short few hours. But fortunately he did not need to get up at all last night, otherwise there was no way he would be able to fool Zeke with his lousy act.
In a way, it was truly miraculous that he would be able to engage in intimate acts with his lover in his current condition. No wonder Dr. Feng was so enraged.
…Exactly how did this man manage to climb down the stairs last night? A complicated look flashed through Dr. Feng's eyes when he stared at Lu Yizhou's back. Even now, Lu Yizhou did not have the slightest intention to ask for help when it was clearly so difficult for him to walk. Cursing under his breath, Dr. Feng finally resigned to his fate and stepped forward to grab Lu Yizhou's arm and sling it over his shoulders. Just blame him for being soft-hearted!
Surprise flickered in Lu Yizhou's features for a second before he awkwardly uttered, "Thank you…"
"Hmph!" Dr. Feng did not even want to waste his breath on this stinky brat. He supported Lu Yizhou to go up the stairs and helped him into the medical cabin. To no one's surprise, Lu Yizhou had aggravated his wounds due to his excessive movement last night. Dr. Feng gave him the ultimatum to stay inside for at least six hours and he even sat outside to supervise him.
Dr. Feng immersed himself in catching up on work and gradually, the sun rose to its highest vantage point in the sky, spilling a radiant light through the window. It was already noon when Dr. Feng turned off his terminal and walked toward the medical cabin. He saw that Lu Yizhou had his eyes shut peacefully inside. It was unknown whether he was really sleeping or not.
He was just checking over the progress of the healing when there was a loud thump downstairs, followed by a hysterical screech, "Lu Yizhou—!!"
