Once Again

Lu Yizhou's eyes abruptly snapped open and he shot up sitting, there was none of the drowsiness in his alert silver eyes. Dr. Feng, however, pressed his shoulders back down and told him in a firm voice, "Stay here! I will go and see what happens." He did not give Lu Yizhou any chance to refute and immediately turned away to rush toward the source of the voice – Zachary.1

Even though Dr. Feng looked calm on the outside, his heart was rapidly sinking in dread. What happened? What the hell could have happened in this place? Had the enemies found their location and chased them all the way here?! No, it couldn't be!

He practically flew down the stairs, crossed the living room and slammed Zachary's room open, his breathing harsh and uneven. "Zachary…?!" 

His eyes immediately zeroed in on the young man who had evidently fallen from the bed, judging from the blanket that was still tangled up with his legs. From Dr. Feng's position, he could only see Zachary whose head was hung low, shoulders trembling faintly. 

Had he broken some bones?! 

Dr. Feng's poor heart almost jumped out of his throat as he sped forward. "Is there something wrong?!" He crouched down and held Zachary's shoulders and his heart sank even deeper when he found the tears on his golden eyes. He was immediately reminded of the time when Zachary tried to stab himself with scissors and the anxiety in his heart surged to a brand new peak. "What's wrong? Are you hurt anywhere? Hurry up and tell me!"

"Dr. Feng…?" Zeke's eyes widened in surprise when he saw that it was not Lu Yizhou who had come to check on him. He grabbed Dr. Feng's sleeves tightly and his face became ghastly pale. "W–Where is Lu Yizhou?" He glanced at the doorway yet the man he was seeking for was nowhere to be found. If not for the intense soreness on his back, waist and legs – well, practically his whole body – he would have thought that last night was merely a pipe dream…

The Head Administrator was afraid that this young man would come up with another episode of 'this is not my reality' and seek another method to harm himself. He hastily tried to reassure him. "He's fine! He is still alive and kicking. He is just upstairs and it's not very convenient for him to come down now. What about you? Why are you screaming so loud?!"

"Ah, that…" Zeke became sheepish when he recalled his frenzied scream earlier. "Forget it. It's nothing at all."

Dr. Feng had just wanted to blurt out 'how could it be nothing' when Zeke rubbed his teary eyes. The platinum ring that rested snugly around his fourth finger was especially eye-catching when it reflected the sunlight. Aside from Dr. Xiao, Dr. Feng could be considered as the closest person to Zachary in the sense that he was the one who had checked up on him almost everyday when he was still in a coma. And he was goddamn sure that this ring did not exist yesterday. So the only possibility was…

All of a sudden, he seemed to have discovered the reason why Zachary was so frantic. 

Dr. Feng: "..." Speechless.

All of his panic and anxiety receded away in a flash and his gaze contained the same coldness as the way he used to look at Lu Yizhou earlier. "Can you get up?" He asked in a frosty tone. "What the hell are you thinking, trying to get out of bed by yourself? Do you think you're so powerful now?" 

He could not help but sneer. Fool him once, shame on them. Fool him twice, shame on him! He had wasted his feelings to worry about this dog shit couple. The blame entirely lay on him!

Zeke could not figure out why Dr. Feng suddenly acted like a different person. However, he was the guilty party here so he sensibly kept mum and conveniently used Dr. Feng's help to hoist himself up. He had gotten too anxious to get down from bed to the point where he forgot that his legs were still useless, even more so after the passionate session last night. Wait, no, this was not his fault at all but Lu Yizhou's! 

How dare that beast put a ring on his finger without even saying anything?!

The more he thought about it, the angrier he was. He was so furious that he could not wait to catch the man by his collar and bite down on his lips until they bled! However, Zeke suddenly recalled what Dr. Feng said earlier and a powerful jolt wrecked through his heart. "Wait… what do you mean by it's not convenient for Lu Yizhou to come downstairs? What happened to him?!"

Dr. Feng stared at him with a complex look. Zachary was too keen. There was no way Dr. Feng could hide this matter from him. After all, they were living under the same rooftop. Sooner or later, he would find out about Lu Yizhou's condition. But deep down, Dr. Feng also had his own motive. He wanted to give Zachary a head's up so he could prevent Lu Yizhou from coming up with any shenanigans in the future that would cause his injuries to turn for the worse. Just as he opened his mouth to explain, Lu Yizhou's voice suddenly came from behind him,

"Nothing happens."

The man clearly did not obey Dr. Feng's words and he immediately climbed out of the medical cabin as soon as Dr. Feng was gone. Now, he was leaning against the doorframe while coincidentally putting less pressure on his right leg. The gaze he directed toward Dr. Feng contained a faint warning when he stressed once again, "Nothing happens at all."

"..." The corner of Dr. Feng's lips twitched. Fuck you, do you think I am afraid?! He let out a mockery sneer. "Hehe… keep pretending. Let me see how long you can keep up this act for!"

Now it was Lu Yizhou's turn to be rendered speechless.

Zeke looked at Dr. Feng and Lu Yizhou back and forth. In the end, he settled his anxious gaze on Lu Yizhou, the previous anger forgotten. He knew Lu Yizhou too well. Especially now that he had regained all of his memory, he knew that this person had a tendency to hide his pain and discomfort. As such, he could immediately guess that Lu Yizhou's condition must have become worse. The thrill and excitement of receiving the ring was cut into half and was replaced with deep remorse. It was his fault. He should have noticed it last night, but… 

Not only did he fail to notice anything, he even seduced Lu Yizhou into… oh God!

"Are you allowed to be out of the medical cabin?" Zeke scanned his beloved's body anxiously but did not find anything amiss. "You didn't break your body last night, did you?!" After all, they had gotten carried away and done it too wild last night. Damn it… exactly how strong was Lu Yizhou's physique to keep up such a strenuous exercise for a long period of time?!

"I'm really fine…" Lu Yizhou let out a helpless sigh. In one glance, he could tell that his lover had almost figured out everything. Why was he so sharp at a time like this? Lu Yizhou straightened up and walked into the room. His gait, albeit still smooth and natural, contained a subtle limp that could not be ignored. He deliberately crossed the room in a few large strides and arrived at Zeke's side before the man could worry excessively about him.

He took Zeke's hand in his and offered a reassuring smile. "Do you think I will lie to you about something like this?"

"You definitely will!" Zeke rebuked angrily, not giving him any face at all. "Why are you walking around with your leg like this? Sit down!"

Helpless, Lu Yizhou could only let himself be pulled to the bed. He rolled the ring on Zeke's finger to divert his attention. It worked because Zeke was once again reminded of the existence of this tiny accessory around his finger. "Do you like it?" Lu Yizhou asked in a very soft and gentle voice. "I have it made in the exact same design as our ring."

The rims of Zeke's eyes instantly reddened. He had also noticed it firsthand when he woke up and felt the icy and hard sensation around his finger. This ring… it was identical to the one he had worn when he was Oliver and Terra. Both times, he had gotten married to Lu Yizhou and it was this ring that had accompanied him until the end of his life… 

When he thought of those beautiful memories, an intense pain seared through his heart. It was sweet yet painful at the same time. To think that he would be able to wear this ring again in reality… "How can I not like it?" he replied, his voice thick and nasally.

Lu Yizhou could not contain his smile. He reached out to cup Zeke's cheek and wipe his tears away. "Sweetheart, once again… will you marry me and grant me a lifetime of happiness with you?"
