Touching Reunion

Upon hearing that question, Dr. Feng became even more confused. "How do I know that, you ask? I am not stupid. If your relationship is not good, then why would you mistake me as him when we first met?"2

Luan recalled his previous blunder and the corner of his lips turned down, extremely upset. However, he could not deny the surging relief in his chest when he heard Dr. Feng's innocent reply. Oh that's good, so he still had not found out anything yet…

He knew that it was ridiculous of him to hide this matter from Dr. Feng. The longer this went on, the more guilty he felt. He was so used to being transparent with this person that having to hide such a grave secret was slowly killing him from the inside. But more than that, he feared the day that Dr. Feng would learn the truth. Even more than knowing Luan's intimate relationship with Cyrus inside the simulator, he was more afraid to see Dr. Feng acknowledging this relationship with utter sincerity…

He couldn't. Just thinking about it was enough to make his core tremble and shiver in excruciating pain.

As such, no matter how guilty and agonizing it felt, he still chose to drag on day by day, trying to bury the truth as long as possible.

"Oh." Luan blinked and swiftly adjusted his expression. "You're right. We indeed got along well with each other. But you're already swarmed with work all day long, I don't want to take up much of your time."

Dr. Feng was slightly taken aback. He did not expect that Luan would be so sensible. For a split second, he was unable to put into words what he was feeling right now. Was this the complicated feeling of a father upon knowing that their son had grown up and could start to share their burden? With an amused snort, he chided Luan softly, "Why are you so silly? If you want to talk about him, of course I will listen."

"Mn…" Luan lowered his lashes to hide the bitterness in his eyes. "I will keep it in mind. Thank you."

"You're welcome," he said with a smile, not knowing how his light reply was akin to a harsh jab to Luan's sore spot.

Even though Luan readily gave that answer, Dr. Feng still held a little nagging doubt on the back of his mind. Somehow, he could sense traces of reluctance in Luan's tone whenever they talked about Cyrus. If their relationship was indeed as good as Luan had claimed it to be, then why did he look unwilling to talk about Cyrus?

Dr. Feng rubbed his chin as a hypothesis popped up in his mind.

Had they parted on bad terms?

That was possible. According to his daily observation, Luan had a very taciturn personality and he was often expressionless, making others unable to guess what was going on in his mind. If one did not scrutinize him closely, one would not be able to catch the micro reaction from his body. If he had a fight with Cyrus, then he would most likely be unwilling to say it out loud.

If that was the case… then the reason why he was spending his time here instead of inside the simulator could be explained! The two of them must have been fighting!

Dr. Feng felt like he had found a breakthrough after being stuck in a bottleneck for a long period of time. Like this, it seemed like the answer he had been seeking for was already close at reach. His whole person became more relaxed and satisfied, and he was even humming a tone when he worked, causing Luan to cast doubtful glances once in a while. This time though, Dr. Feng did not mind it any longer.

Children ah… if they fought, then they should quickly make up with each other!

Dr. Feng was secretly concocting a plan in his heart. He had to let Luan and Cyrus meet again. However, in case Luan would see through the plan and explode in rage out of sheer mortification, he had to do it secretly so as to not wound the system's fragile heart.

A few days later, the opportunity Dr. Feng had been waiting for finally presented itself.

In this period of time, he had been discussing the best form for Bianca because the girl just could not come to a decision. She was hesitating for so long that Dr. Feng could not bear to see it any longer and finally butted in. Their research institute did not dabble in robotics, but Dr. Feng's vast network made it easier for him to make a custom order as long as he gave the detailed and right specification.

He was talking about the pros and cons of a human body when Luan, who had always been silent, suddenly interjected, "I want a body too."

Dr. Feng raised his head in surprise. "Huh?"

"I want a body too. Just like this." He pointed at the presentation of the humanoid body that was shown on the hologram screen. His voice lowered, almost as if he was pleading. "Can't I?"

"Luan wants a body too?!" Bianca's eyes lit up and she beamed from ear to ear. "That's great! Then, we can play together with Daddy later!"

"Mn," Luan replied with a light smile.

Dr. Feng did not think too much about it. Either way, he was going to commission a robot body for Bianca, so one more order would not make any difference. Moreover, this was the first time Luan had ever asked him for something and naturally, he wanted to fulfill it to the best of his ability.

"Sure," He agreed decisively and beckoned for Luan to come closer. "Come and tell me what kind of body you want."

Luan looked down at his own form and blinked. "Just this body is fine. I don't have many requirements. As long as it can move, I am already satisfied."

Despite Luan's casual demeanor, Dr. Feng still could not rest assured. This was the system's first humanoid body after all. He would not accept anything other than perfection! "How can you be so casual? It won't do…" Grumbling under his breath, he opened a new document and started to type a series of sophisticated and advanced specifications he would like to apply on Luan's body. He was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he failed to realize the incredibly tender gaze Luan used to look at him.

Bianca looked at them back and forth and her sharp eyes flashed in a certain understanding. But because she liked Luan more, she decided not to say anything in the end. Well, it was none of her business anyway. She was only a little girl who liked to play, sleep and repeat!

Dr. Feng finally launched his plan when the first prototype was sent to the research institute. He had deliberately prepared an empty room for Luan to test his new body and under the guise of having important work to do, he left Luan alone and returned to his office.

Yet as soon as he sat down on his seat, he activated the pinhole camera he had placed in the prototype's right eye. He had expended a lot of effort to find this kind of old-fashioned camera that could not be detected by the system, just to investigate the root of the problem between Luan and his virtual character. Now it was finally time to see his effort bore fruit!

With surging anticipation and excitement, Dr. Feng monitored the room closely and awaited the touching reunion of two friends who had parted on bad terms. He even patted himself on the back for doing such a good job. Heavens, was there anyone more considerate than him in the entire research institute?

On the hologram screen, he saw Luan sizing the prototype body up and down with a thoughtful look on his face. Then all of a sudden, there was a distortion in the space behind him and the faint silhouette of a slender man made of countless dots of light could be seen. Luan seemed to notice something because he abruptly swiveled around in shock.

"Luan!" The fuzzy silhouette gradually solidified to form Dr. Feng's virtual character which he had modified with his own hands. The man smoothly threw himself into Luan's arms and hugged him tightly, his voice choking in emotions. "Luan, I missed you so much!"

Dr. Feng raised a brow, intrigued. Oh? It did not look like they were fighting. Had he been wrong all along?

"You…" Luan was so shocked that he only found his voice after half a day. He placed his hand on Cyrus' shoulders as though wanting to push him away, yet in the end he could not bear to do it. "Why are you here?" His voice was filled with a kind of resignation and tender helplessness.

Cyrus raised his head, his beautiful eyes that were identical to Dr. Feng were brimming with tears, sending powerful jolts straight to Luan's heart. "You still dare to ask why I am here after you disappeared all of a sudden?! You—" Unable to continue his sentence, Cyrus went on his tiptoes and sought Luan's lips in a messy and passionate kiss.

On the other hand…

After seeing this scene, Dr. Feng was so shocked that he directly fell off his seat, crashed to the ground and knocked his glasses askew. Even then, he still could not tear his gaze away from the hologram screen.

W–What the fuck was going on here?!

Luan and Cyrus— why were they… kissing?!
