Not So Mini Sun
Luan stiffened when he sensed Dr. Feng's head leaning softly against him like a baby bird seeking comfort, the man's shaky exhale fanning across his neck. He could not believe what was happening. Dr. Feng, he… he was revealing his weakness? Willingly? That genius Head Administrator who was secretly dubbed as a workaholic robot by others? 1
Luan froze, not knowing where to put his hands or feet. However, when he heard the man admitting how tired he was and saw the apparent exhaustion on his features, all of his disbelief and hesitation melted away only to be replaced with heartache – an immense heartache.
His heart ached for how foolish this man was, how endearingly foolish. He clearly sat on the top, his intelligence was second to none, yet he put in twice or even thrice the effort than those who were less capable. Sooner or later, he was going to overwork himself to death.
Distressed, he placed his hand on Dr. Feng's back and patted him not unlike how a mother would comfort her child, while his other hand snuck around Dr. Feng's waist to support him. "You're working too hard," he sighed. "You're so smart, but why don't you know how to rest and take care of yourself once in a while?"
Feeling the warmth of the body that embraced him, Dr. Feng only wished he could get closer and thaw the frozen part of his body. And he did just that. He shoved his hands into Luan's pocket and almost groaned at how toasty it felt. Luan's temperature was more on the higher side, and after being exposed to cold wind for the past few hours, Dr. Feng had the impression that he was hugging a not so mini sun – one that was attractive, brilliant and had a very soothing voice that could drain all of his stress away.
He could feel his muscles loosening, slackening as if there was an invisible hand that kneaded them one by one until they were soft and fuzzy all over. His body became a mass of heavy fluids that was fully supported by Luan's strength alone.
Why…? Why was it so easy to lower his guard down around Luan? Why was it so comfortable being in Luan's embrace? Why was it so warm? Or… was it only because the one who was with him right now was Luan and not anyone else?
It took Dr. Feng's lagging brain a few seconds to register Luan's question. By then, he was already feeling so cozy that he could fall asleep on his feet. He let out a tiny snort from his nose and conveniently sniffed Luan's scent a few more times while he was at it. "Funny to hear this coming from a system…"
Luan squeezed his shoulder as if in admonishment, "Even if I am a system, I still know to stop when my hardware overheats. I know how to be in standby mode when I am idle. Unlike you."
"Sure, sure…" Dr. Feng grumbled under his breath, his words becoming softer and softer with each passing second. "I still need to check up on Lu Yizhou and Zachary, so… wake me up in half an hour…" After that, his breathing turned long and even.
Luan sensed it right away when Dr. Feng's weight on him became heavier. He lowered his glance and saw that the renowned Head Administrator had fallen asleep just like that. Not only that, he was also snoring faintly.
"Ha…" Luan let out a brief chuckle. Exasperation, helplessness, distress, fondness and deep affection, all of them were encompassed within that gentle laugh that echoed amidst the empty building.
After hugging the man for a while, he scooped Dr. Feng into his arms and carried him inside.

In the end, Dr. Feng slept for one and a half hours.
Rather than Luan waking him up, it's more like he was awoken from the soreness on his body. Then he found out that Luan had been massaging him all the time he was asleep. Dr. Feng could not believe his ears when he heard this. He used to be such a light sleeper that he would wake up if his terminal vibrated. Just how the hell did he continue to sleep like dead when Luan was making a dough out of his body?!
In response to his amazed exclamation, he received a flick on his forehead. "It's because you are too tired, silly," Luan said with faint laughter in his eyes.
Thanks to this reminder, Dr. Feng's mind automatically drifted to the time when he leaned against Luan. Heat spread across his cheeks and his heart fluttered. He was not embarrassed to let another person take care of him, but… it was another matter altogether to voice his grievance like a spoiled child! Whenever he looked at Luan, he would remember how he had complained in a soft and sticky voice and… augh! His brain must have been flooded with water for him to do something like that! How embarrassing!
"How are your shoulders? Does it still hurt?" Luan asked as he kneaded the curve of Dr. Feng's shoulder with his strong and broad palm.
Dr. Feng fought not to flinch and shrink back at the touch. Was it because Luan had been massaging him for a while? He found that the man's hand was… scorching, to say the least. It was like everywhere he touched was licked by the tongue of flame, making Dr. Feng's skin tingle all over.
He cleared his throat and raised to his feet with a gait as natural as possible while shrugging Luan's hands off. He was used to pulling all-nighters. He only needed a little rest to clear his mind. Coupled with Luan's heavenly massage, he did not feel as uncomfortable as before. "It's okay. Your massage helps a lot. Thank you… damn!" He pretended to turn on his terminal and was shocked when he saw that he had slept for more than an hour. He forgot all about his embarrassment and demanded angrily, "Why don't you wake me up?!"
It was already past 5 am, he still had not checked if Lu Yizhou and Zachary were fine! What if something happened to them in the middle of the night?!
Thinking up to here, he started to gather his belongings and ran his hair through his tangled hair, flustered.
Luan's gaze was glued to him all the way. "How can I bear to wake you up when you're sleeping so sweetly?" He murmured with a voice so soft that it could barely be heard.
Dr. Feng was typing a message to Dr. Xiao and asking her to come to the institute as soon as possible. Hearing Luan's indistinct voice, he raised his voice without looking up, "What did you just say?"
"...No," Luan said. "Nothing."
But it did not seem like nothing though? Dr. Feng shot him a skeptical look. However, he really did not have time to idle around anymore. He gathered his hair and tied it into a low ponytail as usual, then he told Luan. "I'm going to check on Lu Yizhou and Zachary." It was only when he had taken two steps that he remembered to add, "...I will definitely inform you later if I have to go somewhere."
Luan was taken aback slightly. He looked at the tip of Dr. Feng's ears that were tinged with red, and a soft smile graced the corner of his lips. "...Okay."
