SUGAR MOMMY (PART 2)

"What's your plan for tomorrow?" Ge Chen calmly asked.

Xue Lin shortly replied, "Going to the school." 

Her eyes were on the dishes in front of her. She had no time to talk to her husband.

Noticing that she was more into food than him, Ge Chen wanted to talk more. 

He inquired, "What about the girl you wanted to meet?"

"I'll meet her after school." Remembering something, Xue Lin added, "And another thing. I'll take my car tomorrow. You can go with me."

Ge Chen nodded and started eating. 

They ate without any interactions. Chef Hui served them dishes one by one. 

There was a harmony in the dining room that gave Chef Hui and the maids a tranquil feeling.

Breaking the silence, Ge Chen suddenly asked his wife, "Will you drop me home before going to the girl's house?"

Without moving her head, Xue Lin answered, "That's the plan."

Ge Chen suggested, "How about I go to the girl's house with you?"

Xue Lin was going to eat the fish tofu. Her hand paused in the midair. 

She looked at her husband and asked, "Why do you want to go?"

Ge Chen coolly answered, "I'll play detective."

Xue Lin couldn't imagine Ge Chen in detective disguise. Even so, she got a bit excited, "You want to ask around about the girl? Sure. It will help me a lot."

Ge Chen smiled suddenly in response to her reply. "Let's do it then." 

Thump! Thump!

Xue Lin stared at his face for a moment before taking her eyes off him. She looked at her bowl of soup.

'What's this? Why is my heart suddenly beating fast? It's so weird. It's not the first time I saw him smiling. It's kind of different than usual. But why is my heart so loud? Heart, shh! Don't make so much sound!'

Scolding her overly excited heart, she focused on her meal.

The next day, she wore a white t-shirt, a baby pink colored jacket and a skirt. Tying her hair like a ponytail, she looked at herself in the mirror one last time before grabbing the bag.

"Are you ready?" Ge Chen asked from the bedroom. He was wearing his bodyguard uniform.

"Yes, I'm done." Xue Lin came out of the walk-in closet. The lights of the closet turned off automatically. 

They climbed down the stairs and as usual, head Butler Ru Shan was there to see them off.

Xue Lin's car was left at the entrance. She took the driver's seat and Ge Chen sat on the passenger's seat.

She smoothly drove out of the mansion's area.

It had been a while since she last went to school. Everyone greeted her.

"Miss Fa, it has been months. Did you finish your study as you wanted?" the Principal asked her.

Xue Lin applied for a few months off to complete her lesson in Germany.

She answered, "Yes, it was very helpful. Thank you."

"You have become thinner, Miss Fa. You should take care of yourself more," a female teacher said.

"I will, thank you."

"Miss Fa, you haven't been able to eat much due to study pressure, right? Why don't I give you a treat?" a male teacher proposed.

There was no way Xue Lin would decline the offer. "Sure, thank you," she humbly accepted it.

The male teacher: "…"

The teachers around him sympathized with him. 

'He just joined and offered her lunch out of politeness. He doesn't know Miss Fa Xue Lin never rejects free meals. Poor him. He didn't get the first payment and now he has to feed a foodie.'

During lunch, Xue Lin ordered her meal and waited in the cafeteria. 

"Miss Fa, may I sit next to you?" that newly appointed male teacher came and asked.

"Sure," Xue Lin shrugged. She didn't care who sat next to her.

The male teacher smiled and sat next to her. "I was supposed to treat your meal. Have you ordered your meal yet?"

"Oh, yes, I did. You can just pay for the meal." Xue Lin didn't back away from taking the opportunity to have a free meal.

The male teacher's stretched lips slightly creased. "Oh, okay. What did you order?"

"Rice cake soup, noodles, and strawberry ice cream," Xue Lin gave him the list.

The last bit of smile he had on the male teacher was gone. "…I think I'll order a cup of coffee for myself."

Xue Lin didn't think too much. She just nodded. "Okay."

Ge Chen just finished his shift and went to the nearest cafeteria to eat. 

Two colleagues were with him. One of them stared at the passing restaurant and exclaimed, "Isn't this our Counselor Fa?!"

Ge Chen and the other colleague halted on their tracks and looked in the direction the other colleague pointed.

Ge Chen spotted Xue Lin eating her meal. Next to her was a man, drinking coffee.

He stared at them and then subconsciously asked, "Who is the guy?"

The first colleague answered, "You don't know him. He is the new physics teacher who joined our school three weeks ago. He is a polite, amicable guy. I never saw him eating with anyone."

"Maybe he has hots for our Counselor Fa," the second colleague shared his thoughts. "She is pretty popular."

"Is she?" Ge Chen asked. His eyes were still fixed on Xue Lin and the new teacher.

The second colleague replied, "Yes, look at her face. She is around twenty five or so. But does she look like one? She looks like a high school girl. Which man doesn't like young girls?"

Ge Chen: "…"

The first colleague agreed. "That's right. It's like she will never age. Any man would get hot for her. I heard many male teachers in our school have a crush on her."

"What about you? Do you like her?" Ge Chen looked at his colleagues.

The security guards exchanged glances. The first one said, "Why won't I? She looks young. She acts sweet. She is calm and quiet. She will be the perfect wife any man can wish for."

Ge Chen was speechless by their evaluation. He asked, "What if she is already married?"1

The two security guards were startled. 

The first colleague retorted, "What are you saying? Everyone knows she is single. Did you see her with any man? Counselor Fa is so pure and innocent."

Looking at his dreamy face, Ge Chen's eyebrows creased a little.

The second colleague said, "She might become a wife soon. Look, how they are sitting so close. The ship must have started sailing."

The first colleague lamented, "Yes, we missed our chances."

"It's not like we had any chances. She must want to marry someone more educated."

"Right, we had no chance from the very beginning."

"True."

Ge Chen couldn't stand their conversation regarding Xue Lin anymore. He walked away. No one knew what he was thinking.

"Maybe it wasn't a good idea to drop your CV as a single woman," Ge Chen commented.

Xue Lin was about to start the engine when her husband made the statement from the passenger seat.

She looked at her husband and asked, "Why is that?"

"…Nothing." Ge Chen didn't know how to say it.

How could the husband explain to his wife that her male colleagues had 'hots' for her?

Just thinking about it made him feel bitter.

Xue Lin didn't comment and just stared at her husband. 

She wondered, 'What's with him? He was just fine this morning. Now his face is gloomy like a cloudy sky.' 

"Is it going to rain now?" she asked subconsciously while starting the engine.

"Rain?" Ge Chen looked outside. "I don't think so. Why do you ask?"

Xue Lin: "…" 

Only then did she realize what she just said.

"Ah… nothing. Just felt like asking." She drove the car to the new client's house.

Ge Chen was looking outside the window. 

He suddenly asked, "What were you talking about with the teacher in the restaurant?"

Fixing her eyes on the road, Xue Lin replied, "Huh? What restaurant?"

"At lunch, you were with a teacher."

"Oh, yes, he wanted to treat me to lunch because I was so skinny."

Ge Chen's eyes narrowed. "…Is that so? What's his name?"

"I don't know," Xue Lin casually answered.

Ge Chen stared at her; a bit surprised. "…You don't know?"

Xue Lin scratched her right cheek. "He told me but I forgot."

"He is the new physics teacher."

"Oh, he is? Wait, is he newer than me?"

"You didn't know?"

"Did I need to know? I don't think it will be in my exam question."

Ge Chen: "…"

He had no idea what to say to his clueless wife. However, his chilling mood certainly became a lot better.

They reached their destination in thirty minutes. Xue Lin gave her identity to the guard. The guard was notified about her beforehand. He opened the gate for them.

She drove inside. The first thing that came to their view was a huge lawn with a fountain and flowerbeds. There was a huge mansion waiting for them.

However, things seemed a bit chaotic. One ambulance and two police cars were standing in front of the mansion.
