A Heated Argument

Li Zhiwei had bumped into Ye Linlang at the doorway while shopping for wedding gowns. They did not expect to run into each other there.2

"Zhiwei?"

Ye Tianxin instinctively stood in front of Ye Linlang, protecting her like a child. Everyone knew how much Li Zhiwei liked Xie Xuning and wanted him for herself.

Li Zhiwei thought about how Ye Tianxin knew how to protect her mother.

She had not done anything, yet Ye Tianxin had already jumped out in defense. "I heard you're getting married. Is that true? If so, congratulations."

Li Zhiwei smiled sweetly and held Li Bai's hand. "Let me introduce this man. This is my fiance, Li Bai."

Li Bai smiled warmly at them. "Hello, how do you do?"

Ye Linlang nodded slightly in acknowledgment. Li Zhiwei simply stood at the door. "Tianxin, your father's still at the hospital. How are you in the mood to go shopping?"

The last time Ye Linlang and Li Zhiwei met was at the club, but that wasn't a pleasant memory. Now, Li Zhiwei was making things difficult for Ye Tianxin.

Ye Linlang would not allow anyone to criticize her daughter. "Her father is at the hospital. There are nurses, doctors, and policemen around to take good care of him. What can a young girl like her do even if she is there? Is she supposed to stand around just for show? It's not your business whether Tianxin is a filial or obedient daughter."

The last time they met at the club, Ye Linlang was not in a position to argue with anyone since she did not remember her real identity. Things were different now. As Tianxin's mother, she would not allow Li Zhiwei to look down on her daughter.

"Ye Linlang, let me be clear about one thing. If Xuning hadn't saved you, his leg would not be amputated. What have you done for him? Xuning loves you so much, but are you even worthy of his love?"

Ye Linlang looked at Li Zhiwei coldly. "Li Zhiwei, that is your fiance. Does he know that you are still thinking of some other woman's husband?"

Li Zhiwei was seething with anger when she heard that.

How was she thinking of someone's husband? If not for Ye Linlang, Xie Xuning would be hers. It was Ye Linlang who took him away from her. She had robbed her of her happiness. How could she still be so arrogant? The only reason why she could face her so confidently was because of Xie Xuning's undying love for her.

"Tianxin, can I talk to your mother alone?"

Ye Tianxin had initially wanted to refuse, but Ye Linlang assured her that she would be okay. "Tianxin, your godmother will be here soon. Why don't you wait for her here?"

Both Ye Linlang and Li Zhiwei walked out of the boutique together, leaving Ye Tianxin and Li Bai looking very worried.

"They won't get into a fight, right?" Li Bai looked worried.

Ye Tianxin thought for a while. Both women are educated and sophisticated ladies. Surely they would not stoop so low and resort to fighting.

The cafe next to the boutique was decorated like a tropical forest, with music playing softly in the background.

Two dignified women had walked in, looking very grim and not talking to each other.

The waiters began talking about him.

"Ye Linlang, you're behaving so arrogantly only because Xuning loves you. Why are you so heartless? You left him 20 years ago and now you are back. How can you come and go as you wish? What do you take Xuning for? He loves you so much that he would give up his life for you. What have you done to repay him? He's now lying in the hospital, yet you are shopping for wedding gowns?"
