Everything was alive: trees, flowers, grass, and people.

Li Qingcang's answer made Ye Tianxin smile sweetly.

The two of them stood under the redbud tree. As the breeze brushed against the branches, the petals of the redbud flowers fell and scattered onto the ground. It was as though the redbud tree petals rained down on Ye Tianxin and Li Qingcang for this specific moment.

"Tianxin, Qingcang."

Wu Tong was holding a small bamboo basket in her hand. She walked to Ye Tianxin's side and said, "Tianxin, guess what your mom brought for you."

Wu Tong lifted the green cloth on top of the little bamboo basket and exposed the bright red little cherries inside.

When Ye Tianxin looked at the bright red little cherries, she almost felt like she was tasting something sour in her mouth.

"Mom, where did you buy these from?

"They were sent over by air from the Town of Jiameng. Your grandmother said that you liked these a lot."

Ye Tianxin wasn't overly polite with her. She picked up one of the cherries with her slender fingers and dropped it into her mouth.

"It's delicious."

Li Qingcang was happy to see her smile. Her smile was like the sun; it would warm and illuminate those people whom she loved, and those who loved her.

"Tianxin, Qingcang. There's something that I want to tell you two."

A tinge of embarrassment flashed across Wu Tong's face.

Ye Tianxin ate the cherries and asked, "Mom, what's the matter?"
