A loud noise came from the President's office. A flower vase had been thrown onto the floor, the glass pieces splattering all over. 1

The secretary stood in front of the desk, shuddering. He did not expect the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to release news of Ye Tianxin joining them as the spokesperson now.

"Your Excellency, the investigation team had reported their findings on the Xie and Li families. There is nothing fraudulent about their businesses."

Nothing fraudulent?

The President sneered. He didn't think that anyone's background could be so clean.

It was still possible for them to be frauds. He did not believe that the Xie and Li families would be so honest.

"Get them to do another investigation, but make sure it's more thorough this time."

The President closed his eyes. In the past, both families had kept a low profile. He was not bothered by the power they held in their respective offices.

Now, he was panicking over their increasing influence.

It was either him or them. There was no other solution.

"Your Excellency, do I need to tell the Minister of Foreign Affairs to come over?"

The secretary thought that if the President would exert some pressure on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, he would not be able to appoint Ye Tianxin as the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"That won't be necessary."

The President gave a dismissive wave with his hand. Ever since he agreed to cooperate with that man, there was no turning back. Anyone who made any decision to do something was clear of the consequences. He knew what he was getting into; there was no turning back.

Just then, the phone on the desk rang. It sounded like a death bell from hell. He let the phone ring for a few seconds before picking it up.

"Hello."

"Congratulations on completing your first battle."

The man on the other end of the call sounded jubilant.

He had waited so long for this day.

From today forward, the Xie family would cease to exist in the Empire.

"Everything is still in the air. Don't be so certain. The Xie and the Li families are very established in the Empire. It won't be so simple to get rid of them."

The President knew this after reading the investigation report of both families. Crushing them was more difficult than he expected.

The two families were rich; one billion dollars was no big deal to them. They could fork out 10 billion dollars easily.

He had made the case out to be very serious by instructing the investigation team to look into the Xie and the Li families. Now, the tables had been turned on him.

"Your Excellency, you must have confidence in yourself."

Confidence was all a lie. He was not confident at all.

The Xie and the Li families had been operating in various areas in the Empire. They were a force to be reckoned with in the capital.

Both forces were connected in a very intricate way. It was not all that easy to destroy them.

As the President, he had orchestrated everything. He'd lose it all if the plan failed, but what if it succeeded?

"I've already followed your instructions. Please let my family off."

The man laughed out loud on the other end of the phone. "Your Excellency, you must be joking. I am a good citizen who respects the law."

The President was depressed.

When he began dancing with the wolf, he should have been prepared that he would be swallowed by the hungry wolf one day.

"Is that so?"

The man nodded fervently. "Of course. Anyway, I wish Your Excellency all the best in advance. When both families are destroyed, I will personally give you a handsome reward."

The President looked at him with disbelief. "What makes you so confident? Aren't you afraid that our efforts will be for nothing?"
