Future In Sight
"Hold the line!" Zhang Shi shouted. His player army was pushing back the Undead coming out of the Teleportation Gate off the center of the city while Heaven's Dawn's members were preoccupied thinning out the numbers of the monsters turned Undead that Dave had released through the East as a result of the monster outbreak he had caused.0
"We can't keep this up!" the White Ghost shouted, "The longer we stay here, the more Skelly gets to secure his Kingship. We need to move now!"
"And how the hell do you suppose we do that? If we make a run for it, the monsters outside will slow us, and the Undead spawning from the gate will catch up to us. We'll be surrounded!" yelled Zhang Shi.
"We're already surrounded!" the White Ghost shouted back.
"Yes, we are surrounded but at least we are inside a city, well protected by its walls. If we go out, we'll really be sitting ducks," argued the Blood Rage guild master.
"No, I have an idea. Wan Yi, your Legacy, use it!"
"You sure? If I use it now, it won't last until we make it to Skelly, not even if we use the mounts," questioned the Heaven Dawn guild master.
"We don't have any other choice. The Barbarian God Legacy is the only thing that can drive away these creatures. Use its ability to call in the monsters of this area. Let them make a way for us. We'll rush to the capital! Leave the mounts, they are a liability at this late hour."
"It's a six-hour run to the capital, my Legacy will be disabled two hours after use," Wan Yi replied.
"I know that, but those two hours will be all we need. We should be able to gain enough distance between us and the monsters so that they'll never catch up to us."
"I trust you," Wan Yi roared loud and mighty until the muscles on his body gained a bronze sheen. Dark tribal tattoos slithered over his body painting him a devilish appearance.
His hair grew until it reached his back, then the avatar of a topless warrior wielding a spear and with an uncanny resemblance to Wan Yi himself appeared behind him.
"Nature's Call! Beasts heed my command and come forth!" Wan Yi demanded.
His voice resounded miles and miles away from the city of Nora, beckoning any monster that was of a lower level than Wan Yi that had been lucky enough to not get affected by the Undead's curse.
The monsters raced each other to answer Wan Yi's call. The Barbarian God was attuned to nature, and the beasts had to follow.
"The beasts should be here soon. Until then we will have to hold out. We'll also need someone to hold the gate. Zhang Shi, how many of your troops can you spare?" the White Ghost asked.
"Why me? Use your own troops!" Zhang Shi was unwilling to part with a portion of his forces. This surprise attack made it quite obvious Skelly was not as hurt as they wanted him to be. He would use all the advantages he could get to secure the East for himself.
"Don't be such a dick!" Wan Yi shouted "Now's not the time to argue. I've already used my Legacy to get us all out, so asking you to leave some of your troops is only fair. Otherwise, I'll turn them against you and I swear I'll start a slaughter right here and right now, and none of us will be getting the East!"
"God darned savage! Shi Unit, Zan Unit, Ro Unit, hold the gate for us with your lives. The rest of you, follow behind the members of Heaven's Dawn."
"Now was that so hard? And just to make things totally fair, I'll have one of our units staying here to support yours," the White Ghost conceded.
Instead of appearing thankful for this gesture, Zhang Shi only clicked his tongue, confirming the suspicion the White Ghost had had.
The Blood Ragers guild master was notorious for being a shameless schemer. This time as well he had intended to fake his sincerity by holding the gate only to let them escape and run after them with some distance. But by ordering an extra unit from Heaven's Dawn to stay, the White Ghost guaranteed the Zhang Shi's troops would have no choice, but to actually hold the gate for as long as needed. If they did not… well, Wan Yi had already threatened what would happen.
"Wan Yi, your beasts are here, let's get going," Zhang Shi hurried with barely hidden spite in his voice.
"Yeah, thank god this isn't the Wilds, this skill would have never worked there."
Wan Yi ran ahead of the group, swatting away the incoming Undead left and right. They were all low leveled, at most Undead Captains, merely nuisances designed to get in their way. But who knew… perhaps stronger ones were hiding further behind? Once he broke through, the rest of his Knights and Barbarians followed after.
Zhang Shi's archers supported them from behind, and any unit that could sprint ran after the leading group.
The players left the city in a steady stream, once they were out, they were shocked at the sight of the battle going on further in the woods. Monsters fought monsters, often they fought against their own kind, only that one part was undead and the other was still alive.
Brutality reigned. But they didn't have the time to admire the scenery. They had a mission to complete and time was running short. They needed to get to the capital as fast as they could. Skelly has already stayed in the capital for a long while, and by the White Ghost's calculation, if everything went perfectly with any incidents, they would arrive in six hours at the capital, leaving them with only two or so hours to kill Skelly and secure the kingship.
The White Ghost was certain of his success. Warlord might have succeeded, but it was due to the sudden intervention of the Abyssal Knights. Fortunately, he had something in his inventory that would be able to deal with them, leaving only Kis'Shtiengbrah to fight.
"Hurry!" The White Ghost shouted to his allies.

"What's the situation, Bud?" Dave asked. He was currently busy removing the rubble from the palace area.
"They are running toward the capital, They took routes avoiding the cities of this kingdom" the Ghoul answered.
"Huh, well, I had sorta hoped with all their macho talk they'd man up and fight inside Nora, but that White Ghost guy is rather annoying," Dave complained and threw away another boulder that easily weighed hundreds of pounds.
"Yeah, that guy is pretty smart," Blaster agreed, "But remind me, why are we doing this?"
"The Kingship needs to be officiated in the palace room. For that we need the area cleaned."
"But you have a lot of Undead, why do you have us do this?" Flanker asked annoyed. He disliked menial work outside of the game, and his character wasn't exactly suited for it inside of it either.
"Because I can't afford stationing my Undead here. Right now, every single one is needed at the frontlines. Hell, you should be thankful. If they didn't get you out of that Dungeon you guys got stuck in, you'd still be there."
"Yeah, that royally sucked. We missed out on all the fun," Lone Arrow lamented.
"Yep, you really did. I tell you, you haven't lived until you drove around in a shark chariot. It was so much fun beating all of those guy's asses. I'm telling you you should have seen Warlord getting knocked around," Dave teased them all with a smile on his undead face.
"Stop bragging man. Your Class is broken. You are the only SS-Class Legacy holder and it allows you to control guys way above the average player. Heck, they are above the top 10, which you by the way lead, so it was only natural you won." Perfect Shot stated annoyed at Dave's tone.
Dave shrugged, "You can't really blame me for that. I worked hard to get where I am. Also it's not like I have them all the time. This time is more like an exception. Now, let's keep working. I'd like to start building things right away!"
"Can't you just use the city management option?" Fortress asked.
"That will cost money," Demetri answered. The player with the blue kimono was the only player sitting at the side and actually doing nothing but spend his time making calls.
Flanker noticed the slacker and walked toward him while pulling up the sleeves on his Priest robes. This action was mildly intimidating at best.
"How come you're sitting there lazing around? We all got work to do. Who do you think you are to be the exception?"
Demetri smiled at the Priest and asked Dave, "He's the Priest who always ruins things by speaking, right?"
Dave nodded. "Yup that's him alright. Anyway, I am not responsible for him, so I got nothing to do with whatever he says."
Flanker tilted his head. Before his mouth could do what it was infamous for, Lone Arrow had quickly messaged him informing him of the situation.
Flanker's face immediately whitened becoming on par with Dave's ghostly tone. His whole demeanor made a 180 and he cordially said: "Well, there is no need for you to help us. We should be enough. You must be tired from this day's work, let me give you a massage."
"No thanks," Demetri frowned, "Anyway, I got some of my employees to contact your company, mister Ruster. My guys are quite interested in your new project and they'll contact your H&R development team soon."
"Oh, thanks, that's great. Ophelia will certainly be happy." Dave didn't say anything else as he suddenly felt a cold stare coming in his direction. "Guys, I think I'll go and take a small nap. I've been at it for hours and feel the fatigue. It should take the guildies a few more hours to get here. Enough for me to catch a break. Call me if anything turns up, okay?"
"Yeah, I'll make sure of that," Lone replied.
"Sweet dreams, Davey <3" the PM came before he logged out. Since he was currently securing his Kingship his digital avatar was left behind instead of disappearing. It was basically an empty hull, that his friends would have to protect until his return.
Today's effort has turned out to be quite beneficial. Though he was not out of the waters, he was close. He had already prepared a few surprises for the party that was coming their way.
In a couple of hours, Dave's mission would be completed.
He would officially become one of the pillars of the world of Conquest, ruling over an entire kingdom!
