C1465 Marry of the Wealthy Class 1393
As she walked out of the hotel, a chilly wind blew. Other than the car, there were only a few people walking in a hurry. She waited for a while and still couldn't find a taxi, so she could only walk forward alone.
A black car followed her leisurely as she walked. Ye Nianmo saw her rushing forward with her head down when she reached the intersection. He was so scared that he almost jumped out and wanted to get off immediately.
It wasn't until he saw her safely cross the road that he finally felt relieved.
Ding Yiyi, who was wearing high heels, got tired as she walked. She stopped to rest, but her heart was aggrieved as she thought about what Ye Nianmo really meant!
There was a vending machine right next to her. She walked quickly to the vending machine, took out some change and bought a bottle of beer. Through the glass window of the vending machine, she suddenly saw a car parked quietly not far behind her.
She immediately recognized the owner of the car, and a surge of warmth flowed into her wronged heart. She turned and walked away with the beer, looking through the glass door of the shop to see what was going on behind her.
As the car followed her, she suddenly had the thought of teasing him. She thought to herself, who told him to be so outrageous today, I can't possibly make a harmless joke with him.
Thinking like this, she quickly walked away. Coincidentally, there was a small alley in front of her. She hid behind a pillar, taking advantage of the hazy night to observe the outside.
Soon, she saw a car parked not far away. Ye Nianmo got off the car. After he looked around, his sharp eyes locked onto the entrance of the alleyway.
Seeing how calm he was and how he didn't seem to be in a hurry, Ding Yiyi held her breath and continued watching. His brows slightly furrowed as he walked towards the corner where she was hiding.
She thought he had found her, but he didn't. The night was dark, but there was still a faint moonlight. Through the moonlight, she could clearly see the worry on his face.
It wasn't because he wasn't worried, but because he knew that he couldn't solve the problem, so he hid all his worries and fears in his heart.
That sentence caught her off guard. She suddenly panicked. She didn't even have the heart to tease him just now. She only wanted to find a quiet corner to sort out her messy thoughts.
She took advantage of the darkness to retreat and burrow deep into the alley like a headless fly, grooming herself as she thought.
Have you fallen for Ye Nianmo? He clearly didn't remember anything, but why did he have such a reaction?
Why did he not resist when he kissed her and just give her a slap?
Why would there be a heart that wanted to see him so anxious to make things worse?
Why did his heart sometimes beat so fast?
When a question and another question came to mind, she found herself lost. It was a winding alley, mostly isolated bungalows, each courtyard with a concrete wall.
There was a mess of graffiti on the concrete walls, and a few bungalows next to it were lit up, but either by the scrubbing or by the men's voices.
She was somewhat vexed. She looked at the darkness of the night to determine their direction. The front, back, left, and right were all so dark that it seemed that any path she chose was very dangerous.
The street lamp stretched her shadow very long. She did not dare to leave this light source, fearing that if she went deeper, there would be bad people. But then she thought if she didn't leave, wouldn't it be even worse if bad people came and saw her standing here alone?
After thinking about it, she still chose a path to walk deeper in. Just as she turned around, her arm was grabbed. She screamed as she tried to shake it off.
"I've finally found you." Ye Nianmo saw her reaction was big so he quickly patted her back and said, "It's okay, I'm here, I'm here."
Looking at him, Ding Yiyi felt her heart being pulled back to its original place. The fear she felt just now was so real, and her heart was so peaceful now.
Ye Nianmo held her hand and walked outside. She looked down at her tangled fingers and soon walked out of the alley.
"Why are you following me?" She asked in a low voice, "I was deliberately hiding just now."
Ye Nianmo sighed, "I know, but even if you did it on purpose, I will still go find you." He paused. "Unless you are dead, I will look for you no matter where you are in the world."
Tears rolled down her face as she wanted to cry. She hurriedly turned her head away and didn't say anything until a large hand gently rubbed her hair. The man let out a low, helpless sigh. "You …"
He opened the car door and said seriously, "Do you want to sit inside by yourself or should I carry you in?"
Ding Yiyi couldn't help but twitch her lips. After that, she bent down and got into the car, driving away.
When they arrived at the house, Ding Yiyi said good night and got off the car. She didn't turn around, but she could feel the gaze from behind her. When she heard the sound of the car leaving, she sighed and prepared to enter.
The familiar voice from inside made her pause. She was about to push open the door and enter, but the contents of the conversation made her unable to move her feet.
In the apartment, the coffee on the table had long since turned cold. Outside, the night was dim, and the two people in the room were sitting on opposite ends of the sofa. The atmosphere was cold and cheerless.
"I've said so much just to make you think highly of Yiyi. Aren't you guys lovers?" Soong Mengjie was slightly anxious. She knew how important Edward was to Ding Yiyi. If he spoke, then Ding Yiyi would stay away.
Edward was surprised by her judgment, "We are lovers, but she is her, she is an adult, she has the right to choose between love and not love, why should we restrain her?"
"It's not like that," Soong Mengjie explained with difficulty. "You're lovers, how can you endure her flirting with other men?"
Edward was a little angry, "Please take note of your words," a good knight's education allowed him to suppress his anger, "Miss Soong, like I said, the meaning of a lover's existence is pleasurable, not binding. If one day I find out that I am in love with someone else, then I will also leave her."
He got up and said, "It's too late. See you out."
"But she stole my man. If she wasn't here, Ye Nianmo would have liked me. Why didn't I want anything that was mine?"
Soong Mengjie yelled at him, her face full of despair and indignation. She didn't understand, she really didn't understand, why everyone could be happy so easily, while she was so hard.
"Even without Ding Yiyi, you won't be able to catch him," Edward walked towards the door. "No, if you don't change, then you won't be able to catch any man."
Soong Mengjie lowered her head and asked, "How do I change it?"
"Be yourself. If you want to leave, then let it leave. The love that is left behind is pity. If love wants to come, then let it come. The love that blocks rejection is only love."
The rest of Edward's voice disappeared from his throat. He looked at Ding Yiyi who was standing outside the door quietly and said softly, "You're back?"
Soong Mengjie turned around abruptly and took a deep breath. "Yiyi."
"Looks like we need to have a good talk." Ding Yiyi was very calm. There were a lot of words in the room. Although the woman who attacked her called her best friend, she didn't remember her. She didn't feel too sad that she didn't have the ties of her past.
Soong Mengjie clutched her handbag tightly, her head held high like a broken tin. "Alright."
"Tomorrow." Edward said, "We'll talk about it tomorrow. It's too late today, it's not safe outside."
When he spoke, he only looked at Ding Yiyi. Soong Mengjie sneered in her heart. She was probably the only one who was unsafe. Carrying her handbag, she walked out. "Then let's set a time tomorrow."
"It's hard to get a taxi at this time of the year. I'll take you there." Edward picked up his coat from the hanger and pretended to follow her out.
Soong Mengjie raised her head to look at him in surprise, then looked at Ding Yiyi. The latter didn't seem to be unhappy at all. She lowered her head and said, "No need. I can do it myself."
After she left, Edward turned around and put his coat back on the hanger. "Go and rest now."
"Edward," Ding Yiyi's throat was dry. "Do you really not care about what she said?"
He walked up to her and put his hands on her shoulders. "As a man, I care, but as a lover, I hope you have the freedom to choose between love and not love."
"You're really very good, really very good." Ding Yiyi lowered her head and muttered.
Edward's eyes showed a hint of bitterness, "Love doesn't have to be together. I believe that my mother loved my father, but she left. Yiyi, if you don't love me, then you can leave."
Her body trembled. She subconsciously wanted to refuse, to explain, to press a finger on the soft lip.
He shook his head. "What you're saying right now is not what you're really thinking, so go to sleep."
Ding Yiyi went back to her room hesitantly. She stood at the door and looked at the furniture around her. She had lived here for half a year and it was filled with memories.
Was half a year's worth of memories enough to support her thoughts for the rest of her life?0
The next morning, Ding Yiyi ate the dumplings in her bowl without taking a bite. After a whole night's worth of food, she didn't know what to say to Soong Mengjie. 1
"Do you need me to send you there?" Edward asked.
She thought about it, then shook her head. "I'll go and explain it to her."
Edward nodded and didn't force the issue. He got up, cleaned up the dishes and put them into the dishwasher, then turned around and walked into the dark room.
"Edward," Ding Yiyi opened her mouth. "Let's talk sometime."
He turned and smiled. "Okay." The moment he entered the dark room, his shoulders slumped down. He knew that one day, he would be waiting for that moment to come.
After breakfast, Ding Yiyi texted Soong Mengjie, "Where do we meet?"
"I'm at the crossroads in front of your house."
When Ding Yiyi arrived at the intersection, Soong Mengjie was already waiting for them at the intersection. The two walked closer and closer in silence.
"Let's find a coffee shop." Ding Yiyi suggested.
Soong Mengjie did not object, "Alright."
The two walked on, one in front and the other behind. No one spoke, as they were separated by half an arm.
At the next intersection, which happened to be a red light, there were a lot of people waiting to cross the road. From time to time, someone would rub their shoulders.
Soong Mengjie stood behind Ding Yiyi as she watched the traffic flow by. Each car carried a whistling wind as they passed by.
She imagined the speeding car colliding with a person's body, sending the person flying a few meters away. There was no chance of survival.
