0Her gaze gradually shifted to Ding Yiyi's back. Her mind was filled with the scene of Ding Yiyi being hit by a car and sent flying. Somehow, she slowly stretched out her hands.
Close, one step closer, and with a gentle push on her shoulders, she would fall into the traffic, a car would roll past her, maybe more, her flesh would shatter under the wheels.
Excited! Nervous emotions fed her crazy thoughts. Seeing that her hand was only a few centimeters away from her shoulder, the crowd suddenly became restless.
With the green light on, the pedestrians hurriedly headed to the other side of the street. Ding Yiyi took a few steps forward and turned her head, only to see Soong Mengjie standing there with a strange expression on her face.
Soong Mengjie was so scared by her own thoughts that she broke out in a cold sweat. Was the evil person from earlier really him? The person who wanted to kill someone turned out to be him?
Her body could not help but tremble. She wanted to control it, but the trembling became even more intense. Her mind was like a bubble.
"What's wrong with you? Are you not feeling well?" Ding Yiyi returned to her side.
Soong Mengjie took a step back as if her thoughts had been exposed. With her hands placed back, she said with a pale face, "It's nothing, I suddenly have a stomachache."
"If you're not feeling well, then go to the hospital." Ding Yiyi was slightly anxious.
"Stop pretending." Soong Mengjie suddenly said.
She was stunned. "What?"
"Did you hear what I said yesterday? I've said so many bad things about you, what's your motive for worrying about me now?" She somewhat lost control of her voice and shouted out, causing the surrounding people to glance at her.
Ding Yiyi saw that she had lost control and said flatly, "Because you are not in my memory, so your words are harmless to me. If they are not, I will not hate you."
Soong Mengjie took a step back and couldn't help but chuckle. "No harm?" "Hehe, look at me, I'm just a clown. No one cares about me."
"I said I wouldn't use Ding Yiyi's identity to interact with Ye Nianmo. The one you should deal with shouldn't be me." Ding Yiyi approached her. "You can't ask for love."
Soong Mengjie looked at her with a change in expression, "Do you like Ye Nianmo?" She added, "When you read about him, your expression was different from when you started. I can't be wrong."
"I have feelings for him." Ding Yiyi admitted it straightforwardly. Before she could finish, she was interrupted.
Soong Mengjie was furious. "You said it's impossible for you and her, you liar."
"Mengjie," Ding Yiyi whispered. "It's impossible for Ding Yiyi to drink with him. The current me is Emily." "Even if I don't like him, you still won't get him."
This was not the first time Soong Mengjie heard these words. She was angry, she was unwilling, why couldn't she get it, she could do anything for him, as long as he asked, but why didn't he tell her, why didn't he even give her the chance?
"I'm not listening. I know that none of you think highly of me. So, I can leave now, right?" She ran toward the road, not noticing that the green light had turned back to the red light.
Soong Mengjie saw a seven-person SUV turn a corner in her direction, and the turn light stung her eyes.
She knew that she should move now, or else her body would be sent flying. However, even though her thoughts were very active, every muscle of her body seemed to be frozen. Just a slight movement of her finger would require a lot of effort.
In a daze, a force pushed her to the other side, causing her to stagger to the side and fall to the ground.
The delicate skin of her palm was cut by the coarse concrete floor, and her thoughts were jumping along with it. The pain in her body was completely unable to keep up with the jumping of her thoughts.
She watched the car stop, and the people around her were talking loudly, the huge car blocking everything. She couldn't see Ding Yiyi, and she didn't know how she was doing.
"Yiyi?" She murmured absentmindedly, tears streaming down her face, the past playing out in her eyes like a movie.
She cried as she got up. In her arms, she took off her heels and ran in the direction of the car. "Yiyi!"
One person slowly stood up from the side of the car. The car emergency brake didn't hit Ding Yiyi, but when she pushed Soong Mengjie away, she bumped into the car and fell heavily onto the ground.
She was hugged by someone while she was in a daze. The person's body kept trembling. "Sorry, I didn't want you to die. I really didn't want you to die."
"Mengjie?" Ding Yiyi felt her back being heavily pressed down. She could only grit her teeth and try to remind her, but the other party seemed to be in a state of fear and just apologizing.
The driver, an old Chinese woman, said he would drag them to the hospital and call the insurance company.
"No need, I'm fine. Please leave." Ding Yiyi waved her off before coaxing Soong Mengjie back to her hotel.
In the hotel, she poured her a glass of water. "Drinking some water will make it more comfortable."
Soong Mengjie took the water and saw the abrasion on her hand. Her voice became choked with sobs again. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that."
"I know you didn't do it on purpose. See, I'm fine now, right?" Ding Yiyi consoled her in a soft voice.
The atmosphere was silent. Ding Yiyi knew that it was obviously unsuitable for them to talk, so she decided to leave. However, she was stopped by a call. "Can you accompany me for the night?"
Soong Mengjie forced a smile and said, "Even if you don't remember, we used to sleep in the same bed. Sometimes we would chat until morning before we went to eat breakfast together."
Her eyes were filled with memories of the past and the fragility of the present. It was unbearable to reject this woman who was as fragile as glass.
Ding Yiyi agreed and told Edward before she stayed in the hotel.
Soong Mengjie didn't mention what happened at Edward's house at all. She implored Ding Yiyi to go shopping affectionately. The two of them strolled around the mall as if nothing had happened.
That night, Soong Mengjie brought a pillow for her. "You used to sleep on a pillow that was a little higher. I said it wasn't good, but you just couldn't change it."
"I'm used to sleeping on low pillows." Ding Yiyi said.
She froze for a moment, then nodded with a wry smile. "Yeah, you're Emily now, not Ding Yiyi." After changing Ding Yiyi's pillow, she climbed onto the bed.
Ding Yiyi felt a little uncomfortable. After all, she had no memory of Soong Mengjie at all. It was strange that she had to sleep with her for a night.
Soong Mengjie didn't seem to notice her awkwardness and continued, "We used to talk about what we were going to do when we were young. You said you were going to be a jewelry designer."
"Did I say I was going to be a jewelry designer?" Ding Yiyi asked in surprise.
She nodded. "You and Ao Xue both chose the jewellery design, but her achievement was a bit better than yours."
"Did I design it well?" Ding Yiyi asked, a little moved. It was a strange feeling, as if the two unrelated people were connected because of a single thing.
Soong Mengjie smiled as she took out her cell phone. After searching for a while, she handed it to her. "Look, this is something you designed yourself."
Ding Yiyi saw two news photos. One was the picture of her standing next to Ye Nianmo, and the other was a picture of a jewel.
"Ever since you married Nianmo, you rarely use your brush. This is the last jewel you designed, so of course you have Ye Group. You don't need to worry about selling your jewellery."
Ding Yiyi came back to her senses. "So you're saying that there aren't that many people who like my jewelry?"
Soong Mengjie avoided the issue and said, "If there wasn't Ao Xue in that era, you might have paid more attention to her," she smiled. "But there isn't her anymore."
"Who's Ao Xue?" Ding Yiyi's mouth opened quickly as she asked this question.
Soong Mengjie looked at her with a complicated expression, "Your sister, she also loved Ye Nianmo but died in the end."
Ding Yiyi's heart skipped a beat and she subconsciously refused her offer. "Thank you, there's no need to say anymore."
Soong Mengjie didn't finish her sentence. Lying on her back, she said softly, "Go to sleep."
Although the two of them no longer spoke, Ding Yiyi was not sleepy at all. Through Soong Mengjie's narration, she knew that her past was perhaps much more complicated than she had imagined.
In a daze, she fell asleep, but in her dreams, she felt someone crying. That cry was low, as if she had suffered a lot of grief.
The next day, she saw Soong Mengjie's eyes were red and her expression was dispirited. Before she could ask, the other party spoke up first, "I give up."1
"What?" Ding Yiyi was confused.
Soong Mengjie began to pull out her luggage. "I'm preparing to go back home. I'm just asking to be humiliated here."
"You, you didn't even listen to me finish yesterday," Ding Yiyi said, holding her hand. "I have feelings for Ye Nianmo, but that's limited to the slightest difference in Emily's feelings for him. If you were to say that love isn't counted as love, then I know that you two are lovers, so it's still impossible for me to be with him."
Soong Mengjie put the clothes in the closet one by one, then turned around to pack up the items on the table. Only after she was done packing did she solemnly say, "He and I weren't a couple, after you burned your body back then, his grandma asked him to find another woman for reasons of health. He was very loyal to you, so he looked for me, hoping that I could pass myself off as his girlfriend to hide my intentions."
She sighed, her expression downcast, "It was my fault. I fell into his little warmth, lost myself, and made the extravagant hope that I shouldn't have."
Ding Yiyi's mind was very clear. Every word that the other party spoke was clearly etched into her mind, unravelling the questions that she had never been able to understand.
While she was still in a daze, Soong Mengjie had already dragged her luggage out the door. She hurriedly chased after her, only to see that the other party had already boarded the elevator.
It was a tiredness that she had never felt until now. She had thought of Emily, but she was becoming more and more connected with the people and things of the past, and because of one of her movements, everything of the past began to change.
Soong Mengjie didn't go directly to the airport after coming out of the hotel. She took a taxi to Ye Nianmo's hotel.
At the door, Ye Bo happened to be going out. When he saw her, he stopped her, "Young Master is not here."
"I want to see him." Soong Mengjie insisted. On the way, she had already vowed to tell him all of her feelings, even if he didn't want to.
Ye Bo sighed, "Master is really not here. Miss came to pick Sister Xiaoxiao up and brought her home today."
Soong Mengjie loosened her grip on the suitcase and stared blankly at the tightly shut door. Then, she forced a smile. "You really didn't give me a chance to confess."
