If it was just because of her feelings for Zhai Yunsheng, Lucy would not have acted irrationally.

However, the family compass made her do this.

"Is that the case? Perhaps, there's something else that made you ignore the overall situation and act irrationally," Elder George responded. His gaze was sharp.

"That's not the case. Elder, please believe me."

"I will trust you just this once. However, if I learn that you lied to me or you made some other mistake, then you will end up just like your father."

"I understand. Please don't worry."

Lucy's heart was as cold as the winter breeze.

For the Goodman family, she was just a pawn that could be abandoned at any time.

She was constantly walking on thin ice. If she did something wrong, the family elders would easily give her up.

As they were eating with their daughter, the couple's appetite became extraordinarily good.

Wen Nuan actually cooked soup. Thankfully, the soup tasted alright.

"I will try my best to make the soup more delicious the next time you drink it," Wen Nuan said. She knew that her cooking skills weren't great. However, if she could cook for her daughter in the future, she was determined to improve her skills.

"It's good," Jian Yiling replied softly. She didn't look at Wen Nuan's eyes. However, she was trying her best to respond to her mother's care and concern.

As usual, Jian Yiheng and Jian Yichen came over for dinner as well.

After Jian Yiling ate for a while, she suddenly used a hand to cover a position on her chest. It was as though she felt uncomfortable.

"Yiling, what's wrong?" Jian Yichen said in panic when he noticed Jian Yiling's hand was covering her chest.

"I'm alright."

"I will take you to the hospital for a checkup right now!" Jian Yichen said as he pulled on Jian Yiling's wrist.

"What are you doing?" Jian Yiheng said as he stopped his brother from pulling Jian Yiling. "You made her wrist red."

Everyone else seated at the table did not understand why Jian Yichen reacted this way.

Upon hearing Jian Yiheng's reminder, Jian Yichen realized that he was applying a lot of pressure on his sister's hands.

"I'm sorry," Jian Yichen hurriedly released his hand and apologized.

"It's okay," Jian Yiling replied. Then, she said: "Brother Yichen, I have something to say to you."

Jian Yiling wanted to speak with Jian Yichen alone.

The two of them went to the study and closed the door behind them. This meant that everyone else was unable to hear the conversation between them.

Everyone outside was puzzled and worried.

Wen Nuan asked Jian Shuxing: "What happened to Yiling? Is she alright?"
