35: The High Table

The High Table

"Ladies and Gentlemen, let me present to you… the 'High Table'." I said, showcasing a large gold coin. 

"Fuck man!! Is that real gold?!?!" Yeah… that was Deadpool's concern. 

"Yeah, it is. But I didn't call you here to give free gold." He puffs his cheeks. "I called you here to talk about the association."

They remained silent as they already knew I was going to make our group into an actual working association.

"What will be the purpose of this association?" Marc asked.

"To control the underworld." This got everyone to raise an eyebrow… even Deadpool.

How did he do that? Don't ask me. He is the freaking Deadpool.

"You must be fucking joking." 

"That I am not… I am very much serious." My answer made him fold his arms. 

"And how are you going to do that?" I smiled when Betty asked me.

"Let me explain." I said before unrolling a chart that had a flow chart drawn on it.

"This... my love. Is how we are going to do it."

"What is that?" Domino asked.

"I will expl-" 

"Ye, pal… explain fast." My eyebrows twitched at the comment. 

"That, I will. But do not interrupt me amidst my explanation. I do not like any interruption." Then a chuckle escaped. "But if you don't understand something, feel free to ask."

All of them nodded.

"Very well. Let me start from the basic structure."

"The entire association will be controlled by 12 people who will hold the 12 seats of the high table." They were focused. "But the seats won't actually be under individual control." 

"What do yo-" Domino was about to ask but instantly covered her mouth. Looking at her, I smiled.

"It's alright. I told you that you all can ask if you don't understand something. As for the question… it is very simple." 

"Despite a single person sitting on a chair, the power won't be given to that single individual… but instead it will be given to their families." 

They all looked confused.

"Let me explain it simply. The family will elect a person to sit on the seat but the person will merely be a puppet. The decision making power will belong to the head of the family… Who funnily enough, won't be allowed to take the chair. But he and the future heir will have the most power in decision making."

They nodded.

"But that is just a single seat. No seat alone can take 'major' decisions on their own. They must be able to bring the majority of the other seats to their side in order to make any major decisions."

"What if both parties have the same number of votes?" 

"Very good question, Domino." Indeed it was. "But I will answer that after a while."

"Below them will be the Adjudicators… The Judge." They were confused. "The problem with the underworld is the lack of rules and regulations. As long as the crimes can be organized… They will succeed." 

"Organized crime… sounds COOL!" Of course, it was Deadpool.

"Anyways. As the name says… They will be responsible for making the judgments within the association."

All of them nodded.

"Below him… no, the next one is separated from the rankings." That rank won't fit in this hierarchy.

"So after that will be 'The Theatre' which will be looked after by the 'Director'."

"Theatre… Like in those dramas?" 

Domino's question made me chuckle hard.

"No. It will be called the theatre but in reality, it will be responsible for teaching kids the art of assassination and war." 

"Kids?" Marc didn't seem very happy about it.

"Yes, kids… Especially orphans or homeless ones who were thrown in the streets… We will take them in and teach them how to fight. Those who don't have this talent will be sent to work and study in other departments." 

Making the kids work as slaves… no… not slaves but trained soldiers. Was I evil? Of course, I was… But I didn't give a shit.

"The Director will be the one who will be in charge of this level." 

"Moving onto the next stage… the Continental." 

Again they were confused.

"The Continental will be the safe haven for the assassins and mercenaries. It will include every service from transportation to lodging to tailoring and cleaning. And as a matter of fact, it will also be responsible for making the major business deals… And by major, I mean the extremely big ones which need the approval of the 12 seats to get the 'OKAY'."

"Moving on… We have the Pawn shops and the Public Library. They will work as the name says but to the mercenaries of the association, they will provide weapons and items required for the missions."

"That sounds like heaven for a weapon lover." Domino… Oh Domino, you have no idea.

"Lastly… well there are two, but you only need to know about one. The last one is the Administration Office. Sounds very authoritative but in reality, they are the call center. Most of the missions will be accepted there. From placing bounty to kidnapping. Everything will take place there… Unless the mission is extremely big and it needs the permission of the High Table."

"Did everyone understand?" I asked and Marc raised his hand.

"Where… do you stand in all of this?" 

A large smile grew behind my masked face.

"That's what I was waiting for and that is also related to the question that Domino asked." 

"What?" Marc preferred straightforward answers instead of twisted ones.

"I will stand above the High Table… I will take the position of the Elder."

"The Elder… sounds old?" Deadpool… *Sigh*

"The Elder will only take decisions if there is a conflict among the 12 seats or if the votes end in a draw. The Elder's decision will be above everyone else." 

I looked at them. "Any more questions?" 

Betty raised her hand. "Yes, Betty?"

"Are there any rules that need to be followed?" 

"Very important question… and the answer is a yes." I said.

"So what are they?"

"There are 13 rules. The first one is… never mess with someone's dog."0

[A/N: So, I am doing daily release for DC in my pa treon. Why does that even matter? Well, the thing is... Instead of doing 2 chaps for marvel, I am doing 1 chap for marvel and 1 chap for DC. Which means... I will start uploading my DC fic before the initial plan.

I will upload the DC one by the start of next month.

And someone please suggest me a good Vampire Diaries/The Originals or even Teen wolf fic. I have read Cambrian's one. And please no Yaoi and it has to he male MC.
