C7 Accidental Fire

"Me?" Shen Ruyu laughed lightly as she lowered her head. "Forget it. I probably don't have the battle spirit bloodline anyway."0

"Please, have you seen me touching the pearl?" Feng Yixiu waved his hands up in the air as he nudged her in the right direction. "Even I accomplished a miracle, so why can't you? Trust me on this."

Seeing how hesitant she was in testing out her ability, he placed his hands on her shoulders and whispered soft encouragements. After all, if he could do it, he wouldn't be surprised if she could do it too.

"Fine, I'll give it a try." Knowing that she wouldn't be able to get anywhere without trying it out, she stepped onto the platform and held the pearl in her hands.

Just as she was about to release it, the Spirit Summoning Pearl started to emit dazzling red light. The entire room immediately warmed at the night as everyone took a step back.

The scarlet stream of light was different from Feng Yixiu's pure white light. While the brightness wasn't as glaring, it felt like a hot flame had burst in the middle of the classroom–almost burning everyone up close.

The wooden platform suddenly burst into flames.

"Oh my god! The fire!"

The homeroom teacher immediately jumped down from the podium as he wrenched his hands away from the pearl. This was the first time he had ever encountered such a situation. Sweat trickled down his forehead as he glanced around the room, trying to think through the screams of panic.

He grabbed hold of the fire extinguisher from the other end of the room and directed it at the blazing fire in front of them.

"Student Shen!" he called out. "Get out of the way."

Feng Yixiu circled his arms around Sheng Ruyu's waist and carried her to the side. It was a good thing that his movements were as quick as light, otherwise, they wouldn't have missed the dry ice that blew from the extinguisher.

It took the students another minute to come to their senses. By the time they've snapped out of it, they immediately flapped their hands and threw in their bottles of water, hoping that it could ease the flames. Fortunately, the flames didn't spread. They were safe.

However, the same couldn't be said for the platform. The brand-new podium was now pitch-black, having been engulfed by the flames.

"Heavens," the teacher murmured, but he couldn't really care less about the platform. The school could take care of that. What he was looking at were the three students standing around him. He didn't expect that he'd be having three students who would pass the exam.

The old man stumbled back onto the ground, staring at the three students. Something rumbled in his chest.

At this point, he was probably going to be the most well-loved teacher in this century! Everyone hearing this would bring their sons and daughters into his class, hoping that he'd turn them into heroes. Holy crap! This was his opportunity to shine!

"See? I knew you could do it!" Feng Yixiu nudged her by the shoulder, jumping excitedly.

"Right …"

Even then, Shen Ruyu didn't look as excited as he was. Instead, she simply glanced up at him with a smile.

"Now, there are three students from our class who have the qualifications to take the Martial Exam." The teacher finally regained himself as he stared up at his three students. "Tomorrow, three of you will gather at the entrance of the school to complete the final parts of the Martial Exam. I hope that you'll smoothly pass the exam to qualify as students in the Battle Spirit Academy!"

He wiped off the dust that clutched itself around his shirt as he stared calculatingly at the three of them. This was certainly better than what he was expecting.

"Yes, Sir," they all said in unison.

"Go home and get some rest. You must be there by 7 AM, and make sure to set your alarm this time, Student Feng! We don't want you to be late," he emphasized.

After all, Feng Yixiu had always been late for class.

The young boy scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment. "I'll set up ten alarms," he promised. "I won't be late."

"Still as glib as ever. No wonder Shen Ruyu takes a liking for you." The homeroom teacher poked his head with a smile before leaving the classroom.
